OGAE Poll 2021: Malta's Destiny wins with "Je Me Casse"

The annual Eurovision prediction poll comes to a close today, and we finally have a result. The winner of the OGAE Poll 2021 is Malta’s Destiny with “Je Me Casse”. One of the favourites to win Eurovision, the Junior Eurovision 2015 champion picked up a massive 363 points across 43 voting clubs.

In second place is Switzerland’s Gjon’s Tears. An early poll leader, the “Tout l’univers” singer missed out on victory by just six points. In total, Switzerland received 358 points to secure the silver medal. Also on the podium is France’s Barbara Pravi. “Voilà” received an impressive 318 points.

Last year’s OGAE Poll champions — The Roop from Lithuania — placed fourth overall with 301 points. Rounding out the top five is Cyprus’ Elena Tsagrinou, who picked up 238 points.

Malta wins the OGAE Poll 2021

The OGAE Poll 2021 took on a new format this year. The first 21 fan clubs delivered their points one by one daily. Then, the remaining 22 clubs announced the points altogether at once on Friday 7 May in a grand video.

In the end, it was an extremely close battle between Malta and Switzerland. The final result was dependent on the votes from OGAE Lithuania. They awarded seven points to Destiny, which was enough to extend her lead beyond the rest of the competition.

At the other end of the leaderboard, ten countries were left on zero points. Albania, Austria, Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia and The Netherlands received no points from any voting clubs.

Jendrik’s first zero of the season and probably not his last.

0 points for Benny Cristo is a real bummer, though. I really see him qualifying.

The first JESC winner to win the big one? She’s already in a good spot, stealing the OGAE title from Gjon in the final week.

Think back in 2016 France scored over 400 point’s and placed at number 1 on ogae scoreboard while Ukraine got 88 points and placed 9th position but what happened in May in real world….ukrain won and france didn’t even get to top 5 kicked out…ypu remmember that don’t you..so don’t be fooled by ogae unreal vote the result will be different for sure

Loreen, Netta and Duncan are reading your comment wondering what you’re talking about.

Of course the country winning the OGAE voting doesn’t indicate that it’s gonna win the real ESC. Get that out of your mind and spread my comment to all the users here thinking like you. OGAE is strictly a fan vote, that’s all. They never claimed that they were predicting the future winner of ESC.

This ain’t that kind of year. I wouldn’t be surprised if one won the jury vote and the other won the public vote, and less than 10 points separate the two. [I’m looking at Gjon and Destiny in this matter, and I don’t think either will finish worse than 5th.] If they romp on one card, they’d better score very well on the other, or whoever finishes 2nd and/or 3rd on both cards might steal it. [France? Lithuania? Iceland?]

You have to have a mix of televote and jury voters or preferably win both the jury and televote and this song does this perfectly. It has jury appeal and even televoters will get behind this. I think people are having a hard time seeing this on stage. I think on Sunday we will get a taste of why this is ranked at the top of the betting odds. A song doesn’t necessarily need to unique to win. Maybe Malta have played a little bit safe, but what’s the problem with that? I’d be happy if they win. I won’t… Read more »

You guys really need to stop being so bitter. I see people saying that songs are “overrated” or that “that song is horrible and doesn’t deserve to win”. Do you guys know that just because you personally like a song it doesn’t make it objectively good? You really need to stop believing that what like is quality and remember that art is SUBJECTIVE.

Exactly! I dislike a number of songs.. many of which are in the top 10, but I will never say they are overhyped. They’re just not my taste.

Not everyone likes rock songs but both Finland and Italy are in top 10 (almost). Some would say they are overrated when truth is there are enough people who like rock songs which may place them that high.

The most intelligent and positive comment I ever read on the site. Well done. If only all of the comments reflect your line of thought it would be nice skimming down the comments. But lately with all the hate that is being posted towards countries that are being touted to win just because they have other favourite countries is making me just skip the comments section of each posted article.

What importance does this actually have? Most of the fans are not members of OGAE clubs, so this isn’t really useful as a prediction. I think the My Eurovision Scoreboard App community top is way more useful than that. I believe that it combines around 100 000 fans’ tops.

If any of the fans countries win the ogae and jury polls they would say that such polls reflect the outcome of what might happen on grand final night, so why is there so much bitterness because the island of Malta has won these polls?

No offence but who is actually televoting for Malta this year? She might do well, but this artificial hype and Ogae buying into it is the nail in Je Me Casse’s coffin. You can buy fake views and pop up ads on facebook/twitter you can even buy fake sim cards and try gain points via that method, but the general public of ex Soviet nations, Balkans etc… they are NOT picking up to vote for Malta when better and more relatable songs are in this years Eurovision.

Congratulations to Malta! I hope the results can be similar in the real contest.

Malta, Switzerland, France, Lithuania, Cyprus. That’s not a bad top five grouping. Yes, San Marino got pipped out by one point, but sixth place would be extraordinary for them if everything goes well. I’m perfectly fine with Lithuania reaching fourth place because it’s still very high for them and it could give Lithuania Artists somewhere to go for future contests.

It’s going to be Lithuania since it’s the only country that will constantly get 7 or 8 points from the televoters in Western and Eastern Europe.

Switzerland and France are both aiming for the same target group and won’t do too well in the East.

I’m completely aware of this — if you haven’t read the numerous comments I’ve posted about it on OGAE-related articles. I’m just saying that in almost every polls and odds, the same countries and especially Malta, France, Switzerland, Lithuania, Cyprus and San Marino are most of the time praised by eurofans. That’s what is also happening with the OGAE contest. It shows that it’s gonna be really tough for a song to win this year, and that’s what is exciting. Everything can change until the first rehearsals.

Sot

Wow, Ukraine is surprisingly high and Bulgaria surprisingly low! If they swapped places it would be so much more predictable, so I give them that.

I don’t even have to comment anything about the winner. 1. It’s OGAE, they always come out wrong so mayyyyybe Malta isn’t going to win after all. 2. The results were extremely tight. Congrats to OGAE Russia and Italy tho

Oh, and, one last thing: F in chat for Albania, Austria, Czechia, Georgia, Germany, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal and Slovenia (but mainly Albania and Czechia, they clearly deserved more than null)

Switzerland also received points from branches of 2 countries that aren’t participating at Eurovision this year: Armenia and Hungary. And France received twice its top points from OGAE branches whose countries also don’t compete anymore at ESC: Andorra and Turkey. Really surprised to see Turkish eurofans voting that way btw. I’m not delegitimizing their votes, actually. Not in any way. It’s just surprising to me. Considering the tensions between France and Turkey about the freedom of expression in the press, Charlie Hebdo caricatures and the muslim religion, I didn’t expect Turkey fans to vote for France. French products are currently boycotted in Turkey, so I thought it would be the same with the French song. But I was totally wrong to think that way, and I’m glad that indeed, music is putting first among the Turkish eurofans. That’s all. I wasn’t explicit enough with my previous comment.

Yeah I see your point but you do understand flight schedules right? They were fixed long before the running order was announced and Cyprus although was made to perform in the first half will not be arriving to Rotterdam before Saturday afternoon

Fact: Switzerland and Cyprus finished 2nd and 5th respectively both in the 2019 and the 2021 poll.
Also Greece finished 8th in 2018 and 10th in 2019 so I’m hoping for something better this year that Stefania finished 11th. Fingers crossed.

Happy for Lithuania. This year could bring their best result ever.

I’m fine with their fourth place position because it’s within My prediction range of 3rd-5th place for Lithuania to get their highest result without winning.

I’ll be happy with either Switzerland or Malta. I just don’t want Sweden (Malta) to win again… I fear many countries would start bringing Swedish unispired and calculated songs and that would be terribile

Psss…I can tell you 100% that the Gr jury in the grand final is going to give Fra 12 points…or 10 if they do the mistake to give 12 to diablo…I estimate 6-12 from Gr televoters. So in total from 24 to 16 points.

Baby I’m “almost” 100% sure for this. I’m curious too…nobody tell us something about, only false rumors.
