She’s the last performer to finish among the top 10 at Eurovision for the United Kingdom. And now former Sugababe Jade Ewen is exploring new avenues as she portrays pop legend Mariah Carey in the Netflix series Luis Miguel.
Ever since singing the Andrew Lloyd Webber-penned song “It’s My Time” at Eurovision 2009, Jade has moved from one adventure to another. After performing as part of the girl band Sugababes until 2013, Jade — who achieved fifth place in Moscow — has starred in several West End productions. One highlight was playing the role of Princess Jasmine in Aladdin.
Jade Ewen will portray Mariah Carey in Luis Miguel Netflix series
Now she is moving from the theatre to the television screen. The Netflix series, which portrays the life of Mexican musician Luis Miguel, will return for a third and final season on the streaming platform later this year. Jade is set to portray pop music icon Mariah Carey, who was in a relationship with Miguel between 1998 and 2001.
As Metro reports, Mariah will be central in the third season. The finale of the show will portray the couple’s three-year long love story. Diego Boneta will reprise his role as Luis Miguel.
With her stunning and strong voice, Jade fits to the role like a glove. Earlier, she shared that Mariah Carey was her idol and that she was honoured to play the role. On Instagram, she captioned a teaser with the words: “Get ready, here she comes…”
