She’s the last performer to finish among the top 10 at Eurovision for the United Kingdom. And now former Sugababe Jade Ewen is exploring new avenues as she portrays pop legend Mariah Carey in the Netflix series Luis Miguel.
Ever since singing the Andrew Lloyd Webber-penned song “It’s My Time” at Eurovision 2009, Jade has moved from one adventure to another. After performing as part of the girl band Sugababes until 2013, Jade — who achieved fifth place in Moscow — has starred in several West End productions. One highlight was playing the role of Princess Jasmine in Aladdin.
Jade Ewen will portray Mariah Carey in Luis Miguel Netflix series
Now she is moving from the theatre to the television screen. The Netflix series, which portrays the life of Mexican musician Luis Miguel, will return for a third and final season on the streaming platform later this year. Jade is set to portray pop music icon Mariah Carey, who was in a relationship with Miguel between 1998 and 2001.
As Metro reports, Mariah will be central in the third season. The finale of the show will portray the couple’s three-year long love story. Diego Boneta will reprise his role as Luis Miguel.
With her stunning and strong voice, Jade fits to the role like a glove. Earlier, she shared that Mariah Carey was her idol and that she was honoured to play the role. On Instagram, she captioned a teaser with the words: “Get ready, here she comes…”

Do you watch Luis Miguel on Netflix? What do you think of the choice of Jade Ewen for the role of Mariah Carey in the series? Let us know in the comments down below!
Miguel is not his last name. Luis Miguel is his given name. To refer to him as Miguel as though it were his last name is wrong.
she doesn’t look like her at all but she can sing i guess. dunno an odd casting
That circular picture looks exactly like Mariah Carey!
Oh wow! Jade is an amazing choice, knowing that she kinda looks like Mariah and she roughly has a similar vocal capacity, although no one can beat Mariah… Good luck Jade!
Talent <3 I remember watching her on this Aussie kids tv show back in the day and only realised it was her after I had a google hehe
Amazing! Luis MIguel is an ICON of latin music and she would be known in this part of the world. Like a pink date, Luis MIguel was also very famous in Spain and Italy (he participated in San Remo) and Sadaam Hussein was a HUGE fan of Luis Miguel.
wow this is HUGE! Jade deserves all the best, she had her moment with Sugababes (although her solo career was doing ok after ESC, loved the bop My Man). BBC needs to find this type of artists with charisma and talent. A shame she hasnt been involved much with Eurovision though, she just made a cameo in a drag queen’s Eurovision show announcing her personal points. I’d love to see her involved in the selection somehow.
She also took part in some West End musicals the past decade! Wiwibloggs, interview her!!
