At Eurovision 2015 she told us she was alive en route to the grand final, where televoters placed her in the Top 10. And now Albania’s Elhaida Dani has teased what could be a Eurovision comeback — though it’s not yet clear in what capacity if at all.

Elhaida has been in Albania promoting her new EP ZanIN, which has five new songs: the titular “Zanin”, and “Jam Betu”, “Hajmali”, “Amore” and “Kënga Jonë”. She worked with three different Albanian composers for the release: Elgit Doda, Alban Kondi and Kledi Bahiti. Curiously, Kledi was also behind Albania’s most recent Eurovision entry entry “Karma”, sung by Anxhela Peristeri.

During her stay in Tirana, the Festivali i Këngës winner made the rounds on TV and radio to discuss the EP. On Wednesday she appeared on “ABC e Pasditës” hosted by Ermal Peçi.  Ermal cut straight to the chase with questions about Eurovision and FiK.

Elhaida Dani at Festivali i Këngës 60 and Eurovision?

Of all the years Elhaida might consider a return to Eurovision, this year seems the most written in the stars. It will take place in Italy and Elhaida famously won the first series of The Voice of Italy under the guidance of coach Riccardo Cocciante.

So, is she planning a comeback this December at Albania’s national final?

“This is one of the comments I get, probably every day, because especially my Albanian fans really want me to come back to the Eurovision Song Contest,” she said. “I really don’t know if this is something I want to do or don’t want to do. All I know is that I want to do my music. I want to be on the stage and to perform, which is what I love the most. It doesn’t matter if it is an Albanian stage or a European one.”

That answer doesn’t give away too much. As her loyal fans know, she’s spent the past five years touring with the musical “Notre-Dame de Paris”, in which she portrays the role of Esmeralda. But her recent return to Albania to present her newest songs at a Gala Night in Tirana was a reminder there is local appetite for her music and voice.

But what really gives us hope is the last question from Ermal, where he asks about her future plans.

“I will continue with my tour with ‘Notre-Dame de Paris’ this November in South Korea, then go back to Italy, and in December we will meet again in Tirana, Albania for something else. That I cannot share right now.”

We all know that Festivali i Këngës takes place toward the end of December, and that it’s the big moment on the Albanian music calendar. It’s giving a lot of people hope Elhaida will attempt to become the first Albanian singer to represent her homeland at the contest twice.

Would you like to see Elhaida return to the FiK stage as a singer? Or would you prefer to see her work her magic as a host or maybe even a juror? Let us know in the comments box below!

Prediction: Albania will win a Eurovision Song Contest in this decade. Discuss. 🙂
It would be good to see Elhaida again. I loved last year’s song, so anything like that will probably sit well with me.

Elhaida is a great artist, just not on stage. This cost her a lot in 2015 and I’m not sure Albania wants to risk another NQ as she barely qualified

I loved her 2015 entry, but I still want Elvana more because she has never been at ESC

She was the first Albanian to change the song for Eurovision. She might be the first to participate twice too.

Wow! Just listen to her latest released songs from her LP. Every song is an artsy masterpiece plus every song so far is under 3 minutes, thus a potential ESC song. I really would like her back. We know how much she loves Italy. All stars are in line.

I’m Alive was a great modern and radio-friendly song that should’ve come top 10 based off the strength of its studio version but the live performance was a mess. Her vocals were terrible and the staging was non-existent.

The way you sang her praises for the first half of the comment, to then absolutely cut her off at the knees at the end, pleaaaaseee xp

Agreed on the staging.
Regarding her vocals, she was ill during that time. I can assure you cause I followed her (online ofc xp) like a maniac during the pre Eurovision months and Eurovision weeks. She has proven several other times she’s a great singer. She wouldn’t still be Esmeralda in the live Notre Damme musical if she couldn’t sing.

I liked her live vocals and I don’t get why people think it sounded bad.

Does it really matter? We all know that a fan favorite never wins in FiK.

True, but this would be a special case. She’s still a big name and the broadcaster loves those.

Both. She even temporarily lost her voice some time prior to the contest.

well that is the difference between professionals and amateurs… there are ways to save and protect your voice for an upcoming performance and she went all out months leading to the contest, during rehearsals where those performances dont impact any votes etc…

Yeah your comment reminded me of Jonida, who even quit eating sweets because sugar affects your vocals

Her 2015 song was phenomenal, but I hope that when she reappears, she won’t have the same amount of struggles with her vocals as back then. The Grand Final performance was almost earpiercingly bad

I personally thought the grand final performance was really good lmao. her vocals were way huskier but she was never off-key or anything, and she nailed the high notes
