Gonzalo Hermida

Gonzalo Hermida has tested positive for coronavirus and won’t be able to perform live on stage at Benidorm Fest. The music video for “Quién lo diría” will be used instead.

Earlier on Tuesday, Gonzalo felt unwell, and he later tested positive. He recorded a story on Instagram where he explained he was feeling “broken”, and thanked his fans for their support.

Gonzalo hadn’t had his first rehearsal on the stage of Benidorm Fest. In fact, today he was set to take the stage for the first time.

However, his situation won’t prevent him from taking part. RTVE will allow his music video to be played during Thursday’s semi-final.

Press conference on Monday

Gonzalo attended the press conference on Monday with all the other Semi-final 2 contestants. However, the meeting was in open air and the rest of contestants didn’t have much contact with one another.

The other artists of Benidorm Fest have had to reduce their agendas. Today’s press conference with Semi-final 1 acts has been cancelled and tomorrow’s will only be held with the hosts.

His competitors have shown support on social media.

Artists who had contact with Gonzalo will go through coronavirus tests soon. Meanwhile, the individual rehearsals are continuing.

What do you think about Gonzalo Hermida’s song? Do you think he’ll be able to make the final? Let us know in the comment section below!

It must be frustrating not being able to perform while the rest will surely do so. I wish Gonzalo a speedy recovery! 🙂

If anyone is interested, there is Gonzalo’s recent live performance of a song ”Mi amante amigo” on his channel. While it’s not the same song he’ll be presenting at Benidorm Fest, it does give a clear image of his live vocals, which are just stellar:

Truly bummed for him and wishing him a speedy recovery, but it does seem kinda unfair to have a studio recording compete against live performances, tbh. Irama and Dadi’s cases at least had recordings of live performances.

The most important thing is that he gets well soon. Sending best of my wishes to you, Gonzalo! Both Irama and Dadi achieved high scores while not being technically present, so if people want to vote, they will vote regardless. It’s a beautiful music video, so I hope for the best. It’s my personal third place.

Poor Gonzalo, hopefully he’ll get well soon. I wish he had at least a rehearsal footage to show like Irama in Sanremo or Dadi in Eurovision.
