Sanremo 2022: Elisa “O forse sei tu”
Elisa returns to the Sanremo Festival as a competitor twenty-one years after her only participation. It was 2001 when she won first place with “Luce (tramonti a nord est)”, which has become one of the most famous songs in the history of Italian music. Since then the singer, whose artistic production has always been characterized by the use of both Italian and English, has graced the Ariston Theatre many times both as a guest and as an author.
What do the “O forse sei tu” lyrics mean?
Elisa has convinced herself to return to the competition thanks to this enchanting pop ballad, where the voice of the Italian singer-songwriter moves among a thousand nuances with splendid clarity. It sounds like a hymn to life and the feelings that make it worth living.
The song talks about the “chemistry that there must be in a relationship, the difference that the person you love makes for you”. Understanding each other beyond any silence, being present even miles away, holding each other in a happiness that is colored by the will to live and the “lights of a thousand cities”. The night is the truest and most visceral nest of our thoughts. The loved one, in the dark, in the silence, is like a melody that warms our skin and bones.
“O forse sei tu” lyrics in English – Elisa (Sanremo 2022)
Written and composed by: Elisa Toffoli, Davide Petrella
English translationIt may be that in the end time doesn’t really touch us I would understand you even if you don’t say a word And ask me “How are you?” I will be among the lights of a thousand cities And I will be that instant that will bring you Maybe it’s because among all the mess it seems like spring And ask me “How are you?” I will be among the lights of a thousand cities Yes, I will be that instant that will bring you A thousand times, I have searched for you, I have thought of you Maybe it’s you among the lights of a thousand cities Maybe you are that instant that will bring me |
What do you think of “O forse sei tu”? Could it win Sanremo? Would it work at Eurovision? Comment below.
Why are San Remo’s songs covered in separate posts while other national finals have had much more modest coverage? Please stop the bias before ESC season has even started properly
Ofc that’s true, but it’s disrespectful to the audience here who is very diverse. Anyways probably it’s time for me to start following some other private ESC blog, one where I will not be influenced by bias, but rather where I’ll enjoy all the entries equally.
Goodbye, you won’t be missed.
I’ll be rooting for her, about time a woman won Sanremo and represented Italy.
