EMA 2022 show details

The grand final of EMA 2022 is set for Saturday 19 February. The overall winner will be determined by a 50/50 split between the public and a jury made up of five different panels.

These jury panels will include:

  • Members of OGAE Slovenia
  • Songwriters
  • Radio and television personalities
  • Music performers
  • International artists

After the votes have been combined together, the winner will become Slovenia’s act for Eurovision 2022. Slovenia are set to perform in the first half of the first semi-final on 10 May.

So, knowing a bit about the ways of our Slovenian voting… this could go either way. With the juries I feel like the top 4 will be Batista Cadillac, Gušti, LUMA and Hauptman, not sure on the order of those four. For the televote, I will just go with the youtube views – BQL always wins the televote anyway, because of the fact that they have a huge fanbase and not a lot of people vote. Then the other three will probably be July Jones, LUMA and Batista Cadillac in no particular order. Honorable mention to LPS and perhaps Manouche… Read more »

I wasn’t a big fan of BQL’s song after the snippets were released. It seemed just – ok. But after hearing the whole song and seeing this performance and vocal performance… I was amazed! Def. my choice. Luma seems overrated but I love Hauptman’s song – but not on eurovision stage.

Clearly luma is the standout here . Whereas I can understand people enjoying July. She really didn’t sound great live . And would get lost in a sea of Eurovision bangers

Luma feels genuinly different

LUMA or Batista Cadillac.

I hope LUMA wins, it’s the best song (alongside July’s) and it came out from EMA Fres, a fact that’d made their win refreshing and a motivation for upcoming acts 🙂

Nope, this year it’s a few amazing choices in a sea of terribleness

LUMA are amazing, but will inevitably be compared.

July probably needs to sound better to have a shot.

LPS are really cool, but might not be spectactular enough.

BQL has the weakest song they participated with (though they made worse).

Manouche’s lyrics should revolt voters.

I think Batista Cadillac might be perfect, but do they really stand a chance?

Sorry for being negative, it’s in our nature (Nation of Serfs and all).

What about Si sama? lyrics is controversial? I could translate the title (Are you alone?) and parts of it, but not much. Not with that diction and without lyrics written down. It’s about flerting, no?

The lyrics are considered a bit sexist, the chorus goes something like:
Are you alone, or is your mum at home? Come on, call me back. What about your dad, is he waiting for me hidden behind the door? Come on, call me back.

So it is a bit weird that a middle-aged man is singing about (presumably) a much younger girl who lives with her parents.
So if nothing else, the lyrics are a bit demeaning and dumb.

Thanks for translating! I mean, an adult woman could be living with her parents, and under right circumstances, I could still see her hiding her boyfriend from them. Still, I see how these lyrics are silly and awkward.

Yeah, I do not necessarily think the lyrics are very problematic, but they are definitely not profound or particularly meaningful.
Although as far as I’m familiar with their music (which admittedly is not a lot), most of their lyrics are similarly whimsical and a bit on the nose.

I hope Luma wins I want an EMA Fres contestant to win so it encourages others to give it a try especially as EMA Fres Was really good this year. The song is also really beautiful and could work really well on the eurovison stage

There was an information leak, in which they say that Batista Cadillac are guaranteed to win… I really hope, that this doesn’t happen.

Where did you hear this??
While I think they have a decent chance to win, it is ridiculous to say the contest has been rigged for them.

They are talking about it on official facebook page, under the published running order. They are also last to perform, so there might be something fishy going on.
I hope this is fake as there are a lot of better options (Luma or July in particular).

LUMA is Eurovision ready. The song, the amazing innovative staging… Just copy & paste, add some extra mood lighting & effects and it will sail to the final. July Jones is good and she has responded to comments on YouTube about the sound mixing issues and repetitiveness of the song and promised a revamp. I think after a revamp this has a looot of potential. BQL are contenders and could make the final, although I personally am not a big fan. Manouche are a threat to win and if they do, I will be very disappointed. I think these are… Read more »

LUMA should absolutely go, it would be awesome if an EMA FRES act would go to Eurovision. July Jones has a great act as well, but I think LUMA would do better. Hauptmann is also one of my personal faves, but I don’t know how impactful/suitable he is for Eurovision.

They eliminated that annoying Mia Gucek surprisingly early so I’ve got some faith in the Slovenian public, do it like 2019 and send LUMA to Torino please…

Loved the performance of Girls can do anything and Maj. Also liked Hauptmann. This isn’t such a bad selection.
