LIAMOO "Bluffin" Lyrics (Melodifestivalen 2022)

Sweden is gearing up to select its star for Turin. In the Melodifestivalen 2022 final, 12 superstar acts will compete for glory. Amongst them is Mello veteran LIAMOO, who bids to represent Sweden at Eurovision 2022 with his song “Bluffin”.

Melodifestivalen 2022: LIAMOO — “Bluffin”

LIAMOO, born Liam Cacatian Thomassen, became a household name when he won Idol in 2016. Like many Idol contestants before and after him, the 24-year-old made the Melfest jump in pursuit of an even bigger prize — the Swedish ticket to Eurovision.

This year marks the 24-year-old’s third appearance at Melodifestivalen. In 2018, he placed sixth in the final with his track “Last Breath”, and in 2019 he made it to the podium alongside Hanna Ferm, taking the bronze medal with “Hold You” — the latter track has more than 18 million streams on Spotify to date.

LIAMOO’s newest bid for Sweden, “Bluffin”, was written by Jimmy “Joker” Thörnfeldt, Sami Rekik, Dino Medanhodzic and Ali Jammali.

Thörnfeldt is a familiar name with Eurovision fans. He’s got countless Melfest tracks under his belt, including Tusse’s “Voices” and Eric Saade’s “Every Minute”, the winner and runner-up of Mello 2021. He also collaborated on Senhit’s “Adrenalina” and Elena Tsagrinou’s “El Diablo”, both of which made it to the Eurovision 2021 grand final.

Sami Rekik and Ali Jammali are better known as Medina, a Swedish hip-hop duo, who themselves are also finalists of Melfest 2022. Sami, better known as Sam-E, also took part at Melodifestivalen 2021 with the song “90-talet” alongside singer WAHL, while Jammali makes his Melfest debut this year.

Meanwhile, Dino Medanhodzic is best known as the genius behind Dotter’s “Bulletproof”, which placed second at the 2020 competition.

What do the “Bluffin” lyrics mean?

“Bluffin” is a song about battling demons and burying feelings. LIAMOO sings about hiding all of his secrets and putting on a poker face for the world, even though he’s hurting inside. With lyrics like “All the heartbreaks in my life, they made me lonely” and “I don’t wanna fall in love when I’m this cold”, LIAMOO suggests previous breakups have caused numbness, leaving the singer to feel closed off to love.

LIAMOO told wiwibloggs: “The darkness in the song is really me. I mean lyric-wise, and what its meant for me, but the clubby-dance vibe kinda makes me wanna move, and that I have to move to this song.

“That’s out of my comfort zone because I’m not used to that, like I don’t know what I’m doing […] but I’m gonna bring it to my comfort zone and make it mine.”
