Poland’s Blanka has arrived in Liverpool for Eurovision — and she’s ready to set the stage on fire with “Solo”. After her second rehearsal inside the M&S Bank Arena, we caught up with Blanka at our LUSH Liverpool Lounge.

The Polish star dished on her dance break, the message of the song, and how she’s planning to wow the audience at her semi-final next week.

Scroll down to watch our interview.

Poland’s Blanka “Solo” — Interview after Eurovision 2023 first rehearsal

Blanka had fans buzzing off the back of her first Eurovision rehearsal. On the Liverpool Arena stage, Blanka appears in a purple and orange dress, serving a slice of Mediterranean pop. With her high energy dance break, she’s ready to get the party started in Liverpool.

“I actually started [dancing] when I was four years old”, Blanka told our William. “I’ve been dancing my whole life pretty much, but now I really wanted to get it right — so I hope you guys really enjoy it”.

The Polish Eurovision star also said her personality is different off stage and on stage. She said: “[I’m] a little more shy for sure. When I come on stage, something turns on in me”.

“There’s a lot of components that go into when you’re feeling confident and when you’re feeling good. When you can hear yourself for example…”, she said, suggesting she faced technical issues at the Polish national final earlier this year.

It’s improvement, that’s for sure. With this performance she would actually win preselections. I don’t think this whole dance break matches song’s vibe. Sucks for her that Noa’s is much better but she’s in different semi. I’d say she safely qualifies unless she flops live.

I don’t really like neither Noa’s song or dance break. Sounds very aggressive. i think Blanka keeps it simple but this will be memorable.

Imo It is a nice addition to the performance but I am reading some comments as if this dance break was the 8th Wonder… Anyway I prefer Blanka’s to Noa’s. Noa’s dance break looks like a Drag RACE lip Sync act.

Yeah, I mean…. force a dance break to try to get some points while clearly she’s not the best singer and the dance looks a beat cheap. The staging kind of elevates a dull song but shouldn’t be enough. The Polish diaspora and the easily pleased by a diva dancing will probably, and unfortunately, make it qualify.

It kinds of feels like Estonia 2014 after Sweden 2012. This time is Poland 2023 and Spain 2022. Though Tanja was better than Blanka.

I just hope the audience don’t eat this up. There are other songs that deserve better.

Oh yes, gimme more of that! Whenever Poland gets any points at all, or achieves a relatively positive result, its’s always the damn DIASPORA, diaspora, diaspora !! Roughly 40 countries participate every year, but Poland just can’t be believed to achieve anything down to what it brings. It’s all diaspora, cause only the Polish people are brave enough to book a flight and move somewhere else, and find a job. Other 40 nations are just clueless as to how to do this. I suppose Polish readers can actually thank you for such assumption and take it as a compliment.

Yeah her interview with William felt forced, boring and uninspiring.

But, she comes across as a nice person and her rehearsal was very good. She’s a sure-fire qualifier but I think she will flop in the final, I just don’t see the juries voting for her at all.

Happy for her to see Solo becoming viral in Lithuania (n1 on Spotify there!), I think it can be a summer hit.

The dancebreak sounds forced and out of place, clearly inspired by Slomo and Chanel which is going to hurt the chances of Poland doing better. Unauthentic entries that are inspired by recent ESC hits tend to flop (see Cyprus 2019).

I’ve found something likeable in every entry this year, except in those from Noa Kirel, Blanka Bejba and Luke Black. I cannot find a respectful way to describe how utterly awful I find these entries and how conceited, shallow, arrogant and self-absorbed these three seem to me. I’m really sorry to their fans, I know tastes differ, but I just cannot understand liking their music or behaviour. It seems unfair that artists busy with their music and not promoting their influencer personas, might miss out on getting to the final because of empty, generic horse manure like this. What use… Read more »

On stage she is a diva but that is only a good thing when performing

Off stage she feels very girl next door sort of vibe

nothing did happen though?

Jann also had very poor vocals and an even worse performance, being on his own really exposed with some amateur choreo

Bejba was just an easy target for the salty Jann fans because of being rich, pretty, talented, knows how to look good in front of the camera and as if Edyta Gorniak would allow herself to get too biased, she is a professional singer too i doubt her son can get her to vote for who he is friends with lol

Jann’s vocals weren’t it, but neither were Bejba’s 😉

Yeah, it’s not her fault for being rich and pretty and having great connections, but the concerns about nepotism were legitimate.

All that being said, she’s in Liverpool and she’s massively improved upon the NF performance, and that’s to her credit.

Calling out someone for nepotism feels nasty though

Does she seriously act like she is better than you or me? No, also good on her for ignoring all the nasty hate and just having fun

It makes me emotional when it comes across to me that some people think some aren’t allowed once in a lifetime moments like esc just because ur from a rich family
