FiKmas is right around the corner…and with it the overactive rumour mill in Albania.
The Albanian National Final Festivali i Këngës will once again kick off the new Eurovision season. This year Festivali i Këngës will take place on 19, 20, 21 and 22 December at Pallati i Kongreseve in Tirana. We have our ears to the ground as speculation rises over the potential artists that will take part.
Fans eagerly anticipating Elvana Gjata’s return to FiK will have to wait for another year. But for sure we will see other big names returning to Festivali i Këngës.
So what’s the tea? The following names have been circulating among fans. We’ve had our ears to the ground and are confident that the speculation is accurate and that these artists will compete at FiK 62. Of course, this is Albania, and things can change quickly….
Elsa Lila
For days fans have been wishing and hoping that last year’s FiK winner will return to the competition — and this time with the newly announced 50/50 voting by jury and public. There’s hope that under this system she will win the right to go to Eurovision. Last year she won with the jury, but owing to a rule change it was the public who would decide who went to ESC.
And yes, fans will get their wish as the speculation is correct. The first big name for Festivali i Këngës 62 is Elsa Lila! While we don’t yet know the specifics of her entry, her participation is reason enough to keep an eye on Festivali i Këngës 62.
Besa Kokëdhima
Hardcore FiK fans already know the name. Besa Kokëdhima took part in Festivali i Këngës way back in 2010! She won Kënga Magjike 2013 with “Tutuazh në zemër” ( Tattoo on my heart) and she took part in the Romanian National Final “Selecția Națională” back in 2009. Her return to Festivali i Këngës 62 marks a highly-anticipated comeback. Her track record in the competition and her strong vocal abilities make her a strong contender, and fans are eager to see what she has in store this time.
Vesa Luma & Big Basta
Vesa Luma is yet another exciting addition to Festivali i Këngës 62. Vesa Luma and Big Basta, a dynamic duo in the Albanian music scene, are teaming up this time. Vesa Luma has consistently been a presence in the Albanian music scene, and is known for her dynamic performances and distinct musical style. Vesa Luma already gave FiK some iconic performances back in the day. In 2004, together with Rona Nishliu and Teuta Kurti, Vesa Luma performed the iconic song of FiK “Flakareshë” (Slap) at FiK 43!
As the artists prepare to take the stage, fans and music enthusiasts alike are eagerly awaiting the songs and performances that will grace this renowned Albanian festival.
Stay tuned for updates on the official line-up, song releases, and all the latest news surrounding Festivali i Këngës 62. Whether you’re a longtime follower of the festival or a newcomer to the world of Albanian music, this event is sure to offer something for everyone. I hope Kejsi Tola is in, she has my fifth favourite Eurovision song ever. Hope she comes back with a very strong song and makes it to Eurovision stage again, after 14 years!
And I love Elsa Lila <3
Thank god ! 🙂
I didn’t vibe with FIK last year, but I’m looking forward to revisiting it. FIK feels like the highest difficulty level for national final appreciation… I kinda wish I had encountered it at the end of the season instead of right at the beginning of my first NF season. But I’ve found FIK songs from the recent past that I like in the offseason; maybe last year was weak.
I just want Elvana Gjata back, she was robbed in 2019.
Elsa is boring, give us the girlbop
Elsa Lila’s “Evita” is firmly stuck in my head. FiK is bound to have a few songs that will become iconic or legendary among the fandom.
And of course, Albania is also bound to have the first known entry of “SWEurovision 2024”.
