A new year is right around the corner, and with it new wishes for the Eurovision season. So we have to ask: What do you hope to see at the song contest in 2024 and on the road to Malmö?

Perhaps you want a country to win for the very first time. Of this year’s participating countries, those yet-to-win include Albania, Armenia, Australia, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Georgia, Iceland, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, San Marino, and Slovenia.

Two of the three past two winners — Måneskin from Italy and Kalush Orchestra from Ukraine — sang in their native language….as did last year’s televote winner Käärijä from Finland. Perhaps you want to see another language represented at the top of the podium. If so, which one?

Or maybe you just want a peaceful result, one where the fandom doesn’t splinter into all-out war and conspiracy theories?

Diodato is making a go in Italy’s Sanremo Festival — hoping to finally get to compete after a certain virus cancelled his edition of Eurovision. And there are other potential returnees in the mix at their national selection contests, including Aisel in Azerbaijan, Let 3 in Croatia, Melovin in Ukraine, The Roop in Lithuania and more.

Maybe you’re a member of the press and dream of a slightly beefed up press centre, one which isn’t completely empty in the first few days as everyone waits for “high-reach media” to enter the tent. (Press conferences with zero media are so sad).

Perhaps you want a press room where there are actually places where people can live-stream without fear of the sound or visuals creeping into the background, since the rules under the current regime explicitly ban that. It almost seems like those rules were engineered to make live-streaming impossible…

Whatever your wish, we want to hear it. Shout out your Eurovision wishes below and let’s dream together!

No more juries, or at least a severely lowered percent of the total vote.

Juries just vote for what is bland and will sell well. They’ve shown frequently over the last few years they’ll vote for generic pop so overwhelmingly that the varied opinions of the public is virtually nullified.

That and voting blocs, and the colluding juries mean we can’t really trust them to have 50% say.

I know juries serve a purpose, but the balance at the moment is all wrong and needs to be addressed.

I want to see all the Swedish Winners in a comic intervalact written by Edward af Silen. Abba, Herreys, Carola, Charlotte Perelli, Måns and Loreen.

Perhaps a funny duet about the Swedish/Finnish hate-love relation we have for each other whith Loreen and Käärijä.

Why not let Zara Larsson do a personal interpretation of the Swedish winning songs in a potpourri with her sound.

It would not be a statement in the slightest – it’s a song contest for gods sake, nothing more! It would purely be because of support for Israelis and very probably nothing at all to do with the song. Israel will NOT get the sympathy vote like Ukraine did in 2022 (nor should they) but if they want to win they’ll need an excellent song, simple!

I think jury are actually doing a great job. They take into account what could have a big impact otherwise Käärijä wouldn’t have finished 4th in jury’s scoreboard. But their job is also to take quality into account. Thanks to them, Estonia, Australia and Belgium got a deserved top 10 and Spain avoided a very disrespectful last place. Tbh I don’t understand why people are saying jury did Finland dirty, I think jury were really nice when you know “Cha cha cha” was kind of a joke act (well, joke but actually very strong entry). Jury could have done him… Read more »

I think it was the unanimous vote of the jurors to give Loreen 12 points, which is what is triggering people to not want the jury panel. While I agree jurors are needed to protect some valuable songs (sorry, not sorry, Croatia), it needs drastic changes. 7-9 members instead of 4-5, a variety of backgrounds (you cannot have all 4-5 members have a preference for pop music and expect them to do justice), and the whole jury member background and selection process must be all-transparent, as in, why they were picked, what music they represent or favour, etc. You cannot… Read more »

You are right, jurys were overall quite decent to Käärijä (the Swedish jury in particular was rather classy). Individual jurors are a different story (two of the Spanish jurors for example). I was more surprised about Unicorn finishing second with the jurys, sure it is a great pop performance but the quality of the song is not that high.

Finland was objectively done dirty when you consider very few 12s were given to them by the juries but ZERO of the televoting countries gave a single twelve to Sweden. Why should Sweden win when they haven’t got the full support of the televote? And why should they win when they’re just copy and pasting the Winner Takes it All mixed with Loreen’s original song…exactly the same lineup no changes!

Happy new year to you all. Lots of things on my wish list, but please remember these are personal wishes and don’t necessarily reflect mass opinion:- * Scrap the chosen running order and make it completely random again. * Get rid of pre-recorded backing vocals. * Juries to only have 20% of the total vote. * Have the presenters introduce each entry on stage. * Have only 2 recaps with 1 main interval act in between songs & voting. * Switch it up and announce the televote points before the jury points : there would be some shockers there! *… Read more »

Agree with your suggestion for the running order, it should be a predetermined draw, because some delegations lobby for their spot and its obvious who the front runners will be. Its not a fair system. Other suggestions are good ones , but not practical and will drag the contest on far too long. Keep the pre-recorded backing vocals, the songs sound better. Juries for the time being should stay at 50%. If it is needed then 40%. 20% is far too low, not even worth having it then to be honest.

Germany, France, Spain and The UK all in the top 10, and the countries too used to being top 10 all out of it for once.
The thing that brought the most toxicity in this esc world is now the possiblity to have at the end, one jury winner, one televote winner and one overall winner who could all be different. This method has brought chaos, confusion and toxicity more than everything.
I don’t know how to change that but I’d love to see that disappear.

If Georgia and Latvia NQ in 2024, they tie with Netherlands, so I hope Georgia qualifies and Latvia doesn’t in 2024 and 2025 so that we (Latvia) can have a record of 9 years of not qualifying. We already have a record of most last places in semis, we need the longest NQ streak as well!

My wish is for the return of a random running order draw. This removes the bias of producers wanting certain songs/countries in certain positions to the detriment of others. Eurovision is my favourite live TV music event in the world. I wouldn’t change anything about the music or the production (except bring back live instruments, but that’s another discussion). I want as much chaos and drama as possible!

An Irish win, so the crown is taken away from Sweden for their joint 7 wins. RTE would also struggle to host if they won, so finding a host venue/city would be chaotic. Luxembourg not qualifying. A jury winner winning overall, and the televote winner doesn’t even make the top 5. Sweden placing last. Israel participating, which leads to some countries withdrawing. Greece and Cyprus exchanging no points.

My main wish is for the fandom to be less toxic, and to concentrate on things they do like instead of bashing things they don’t (which, often, turns out to be the majority of songs). I’m a fan of the 50/50 split, though I agree more needs to be shaken up with juries (bigger and more diverse and relevant/current juries). I think the thing that has been overlooked, though, is that with no juries in the semis we are forcing them to choose from acts that the audience has already chosen. It may need more to balance out, though I think it’s a start.
