As part of the previously announced collaboration between Casperaki and San Marino RTV, members of the public have utilized Casperaki’s AI software to generate songs for assignment to an established act. This act will compete in the ‘Established Artist’ category of the Una Voce Per San Marino 2024 Grand Final, aiming to secure the golden ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

There are already ten shortlisted songs, which will undergo finalization during a songwriting camp in London from January 18 to 21. The camp will be attended by a number of (human) songwriters, producers and artists and be led by acclaimed producers TOMMYD and STEFAN MOESSLE. One of the artists attending the camp will be Marie Wegener, who in 2018 became the youngest-ever winner of Deutschland sucht den Superstar, Germany’s equivalent of American Idol.

TOMMYD is an award-winning, multi-platinum-selling Music Producer, Songwriter, Artist, DJ, Tech Entrepreneur, TV Presenter, Whisky maker, and Public Speaker. He believes in Harmony Through Mixology, combining styles to create something new. Having collaborated with everyone from Kanye to Kylie, Tommy is a firm advocate of Web3, decentralization concepts, and the path to true creative freedom. His work has generated over 5 billion streams and sold over 60 million units.

STEFAN MOESSLE, also known as Secret Sounds, is a German/American songwriter and producer. He has recorded and produced songs with numerous musicians and singers worldwide. Notably, his work includes collaborations with indie artists from the New York City area, such as Ashley Jana, Annelise Collette, Carlie de Boer, and Fawn Segerson. He has also contributed to music compositions for the feature film ‘Blood of Redemption,’ Lifetime’s ‘Dance Moms,’ and ABC’s ‘The Middle.’ Stefan co-wrote and produced songs for Mia Martina, Ira Losco, and Jessika feat. Jenifer Brening’s ‘Who We Are,’ San Marino’s entry for Eurovision 2018.

All members of the public are invited to listen to, comment on, and like the Casperaki songs in order to guide the professional musicians attending the songwriting camp in selecting the songs that have the greatest potential. You can find the ten shortlisted songs here: tinyurl.com/sanmarinoesc2024

The artist and the chosen song will be announced at a later date, as per the festival committee of UVPSM.

About Casperaki: Founded with the goal of supporting creators, not replacing them, Casperaki, a London-based startup, is a pioneer in blending music technology with human creativity. With additional tools for melody and lyric development, as well as AI vocalists for demo tracks, Casperaki is dedicated to making music creation accessible and collaborative. The “San Marino sessions” are a unique experiment exploring the collaboration between AI and human in the creation of music.

Key features:

● Casperaki is a revolutionary AI-driven music production chatbot that leverages both music theory and generative AI to allow users to create melodies, write lyrics, and craft complete productions with realistic-sounding AI vocalists

● At all times, the human remains in control, with the AI serving a supporting role

● To avoid legal issues, the system has been designed with input from lawyers to ensure that the human retains copyright protection for their creations

All these songs basically sound the same, and that is artificial, childish and weak. Another fail experiment by San Marino, who are used to make an international line-up, so that in the end they’ll pick-up a Sanmarinese act, like every year…

AI and autotune don’t have any place in ESC. The contest may not be perfect but allowing AI and autotune will destroy its tiny credibility forever.

I love San Marino, but resorting to AI is a very desperate (and pathetic) move from them

Brilliant. San Marino is one of the countries in Eurovision that keeps pushing the boundaries and I love it.

San Marino has left real creatives behind for their stupid vanity project. Another deserved zero incoming. Unbelievable, and with Cassidy Civet ready and willing to bring them to the final! Has anyone heard “Light Up The Room”? Her entry from UVPSM 22? I love that she’s attempting to bring warm acoustic flavored songs to SM, but they keep rejecting her! “Hullabaloo” from UVPSM 2023 was like my most listened non-ESC entry of last year!

Commenting on Wiwibloggs, or holding songwriting camps for AI-driven music? (Or both) 😀

San Marino isn’t qualifying with their garbage nf anyway, so it won’t do any good.

I want back 1in360 but they keep this because this contest for them is the biggest cash out due to tourism of travelling artists there. That’s a truth actually. And they keep also 150-200€ / artist.

This is fascinating and terrifying in equal measure. The songs seem to perfectly combine Luxembourg’s blandness with Moldova’s random lyrics. Karla seems nice, I wonder if she and Super Rob will hit it off in Malmö?

If anyone is among the roughly 34,000 people who live in San Marino: What do you think about this? Are you happy about it?

I’m a big fan of San Marino but this is too much. Replacing humans with robots to make songs is a red line for me. I will not be supporting San Marino this year.

Interesting experiment, but good thing it’ll be just one song. It would be even funnier if they released the songs competing and people could guess which one had ai elements in it.

I love the fact that San Marino exists in Eurovision. They do everything any other country would never do… and that’s actually good.
They have not been very successful with their experiments, at least so far, but I don’t even think that is important.

Which is perhaps why they’re now reworking the songs – you know – with humans. But let’s be honest, there are (human) songwriters that already make robotic, paint-by-numbers songs almost identical to each other without any risks and surprises.

yeah, imho they didn’t deserve that 0 as there were much worse performances than that one (ahem ahem Denmark for example)…btw if you haven’t done it yet, check out their other songs as some of them are really good (and their first ever release in Italian is coming up in a few days) <3
