It’s been the talk of the town all week. And by the end of tonight (or at least the early hours of Sunday), Italy will have crowned the champion of Festival di Sanremo 2024.

The Italian public, press, and radio jury have all been busy voting during the festival. But so too have our readers.

After opening our poll on Tuesday, 4,532 votes have been submitted. We’ve counted and verified the results, and now we can share them in full.

Annalisa is a favourite to win Sanremo 2024

The number one spot goes to Annalisa. She is the only act to earn more than 1,000 votes in the poll.

Their was much anticipation surrounding the star’s fifth festival appearance and she was a big favourite going into the contest. She didn’t disappoint during the first night as she premiered her entry “Sinceramente”. Millions of streams and video views later, Annalisa remains the favourite amongst our readers.

By the closing time of the poll, Annalisa picked up 1,035 votes — 22.84% of the total.

The silver medal goes to two-time Sanremo winner, and Eurovision participant, Mahmood. He’s back for a third shot at glory this year with the song “Tuta gold”, and many would love to see him triumph once again.

Mahmood picked up 784 votes in the poll, which is 17.30% of all those cast.

Earning the final position on the podium is Angelica Mango. This year marks her debut appearance at Festival di Sanremo, and she has certainly left her mark. Within moments of taking to the Ariston Theatre stage to sing “La Noia” for the first time, Angelica became a strong favourite to win the contest.

In this poll, Angelica received 492 votes (10.86% of the total).

Is a solid choice (Annalissa) and I can see it do well in ESC, perhaps not a winner but definitively on the left side of the scoreboard. I doubt this wins Sanremo but we can only hope it does 🙂

I am confused, so hopefully Italians can clarify. I am struggling to identify why Angelina’s winning chances on betting platforms are 15 times higher Mahmood. I would say both songs are valid, and Mahmood is a more well known artist among the older generation, which might not be familiar with Angelina. What then is the main factor leading to victory at Sanremo? Social media; live performance; the audience cheering…

I think that’s mainly due to the fact Mahmood has already won twice in recent years. I guess italians want to give a chance to somebody else.

Funny to see all this people in panic now, but I repeat again and again I thought San Remo was more important for the italians and that they didn’t care at all of Eurovision, that San Remo is not made to choose a Eurovision representative, and that only San Remo results are important but apparently not in fact…

So after a full week leading up to tonight my favourites are as follows:

Songs I love and would really want to win: Irama, Annalisa, Mahmood

Songs I like a lot: Diodato, Loredana Berte, Santi Francesi, Dargen D’Amico, Ghali

Songs I like: Il Volo, Alessandra Amoroso, Mr Rain, Negramaro, Renga&Nek, Gazzelle, Maninni, La Sad

The rest are songs that are either just there for me, or songs I don’t like.

From tuesday to tonight the radio and press juries have voted with a score system from 1 to 10. This means that if the singer Angelina scored a 9 across the juries and the singer Geolier a 7 they had a difference so low that the televote had much more power. BUT! During the final round where the 5 best songs compete and everything resets, each member of the juries (both radio and press) will vote by assigning ONLY ONE PREFERENCE (they have to chose ONE SINGLE person to cast their vote), meaning that they will have a bigger impact.… Read more »

That’s very interesting and thanks for this information. Is there any indication who makes up the radio juries and how do they vote? It’s very difficult to assess how they will rank their preferences. Do they take into account radio streams of each song or they just vote as a professional jury?

Really don’t know; as far as I know they also don’t announce who were thr juries.

Still Irama. Failing that, Angelina and Annalisa. But really, Irama only.

I hope some people will listen to Geolier’s song “I P’ me, Tu P’ te” on studio and give it a chance. It’s a very good song.
It may not be instant and not the best choice thining of Eurovision I agree, but it’s a great track.

The Eurovision Singing contest.

Why did the jury upvote him then?

ThorBeta
ThorBeta

They didn’t! He was outside the Top 5 in Prima Serata which was 100% press jury. He won Seconda Serata which was 50% televoting and 50% radio jury. It’s pretty clear that he won this thanks to televoting, since radio jury used a point system (as Daniel explained above) and not a preferential vote, but this will change in the superfinal when each member of the jury has to vote for one song only. We don’t really know what radio jury will do but it’s rather certain that press jury will rank him low.

Unfortunately he has no stage presence and the song live seems boring and not really entertaining.

No one votes for the studio version. The vote for the live version and if that is terrible, it won’t garner points. Simple as that.

Best options Mahmood, Annalisa and Angelina would be in top 10 or even in top 5. Geolier bottom 5 or 15/20

I feel more and more confident that Angelina will win this. I expect her to be in the Top 3 with televoting, and possibly topping the press jury and the radio jury in the superfinal. Geolier will win the televoting, Loredana and Irama will do better with the juries and Annalisa will be somewhere in the middle in all 3 votes, but I can’t see any of them managing the right combination to beat Angelina. I expect though that it will be very close and exciting.

Angelina will probably have the strongest balance but she really needs to be 2nd with televote tho. Irama or Annalisa will also have support in that.
Also radio jury may go with Annalisa in 1st and Angelina 2nd I think.
This is tough. Indeed it’ll be close and exciting

If Geolier is 5th with the press jury (as I expect) even 3rd place in televoting for Angelina might be enough but it will also depend on the actual percentages in each vote. I don’t know what to expect from radio jury because it’s the first time it’s being used in Sanremo, but I don’t think Annalisa will win it. She was 3rd in Seconda Serata which was 50% televoting and 50% radio jury, behind Geolier (I guess the power of televoting) and Irama, and that’s not a good sign if we assume that she’s doing better than Irama in… Read more »

That’s actually true, a massive blow for Italy. Unironically, any other top 10 sanremo song would be a very strong contender for top 5 and some of them to even win.

It’s a pity Annalisa will not win San Remo. Annalisa has a potential winning song for Eurovision and I must admit her vocals are absolutely amazing. Such a catchy classy kind of song. Gives me goosebumps listening to it, especially at the climax and peak of the song. This would give her a top 5 if not a winner at ESC. Angelina Mango on the other hand has a good song, but it lacks that ESC winning formula. More than likely this will be Italy 2024 song. I like it, but at the 7th-16th position finish is more likely a… Read more »

Annalisa would not win anything 🙂 YOur best shot is Angelina, and its not even a close call. I mean not even anywhere near close. She is more talented and a beter singer and more charming. But Annalise would beat Geolier, sending him would disgrace Italy, gl tonight, i sugest voting, so naples dont send their ghoul 🙂

What i like about San Remo is its all about the songs and the vocal performances. This is what Eurovision was all about in the past. A live orchestra and a live performance. Wonderful
