Nine artists competing at Eurovision 2024 have signed a public letter calling for an “immediate and lasting ceasefire” in Gaza. The signatories are:
- Ireland’s Bambie Thug
- Norway’s Gåte
- Portugal’s Iolanda
- San Marino’s Megara
- Switzerland’s Nemo
- The U.K.’s Olly Alexander
- Denmark’s Saba
- Lithuania’s Silvester Belt
- Finland’s Windows95Man
Their letter, which was uploaded to Instagram, among other places, is reprinted in full below.
“We want to begin by acknowledging the privilege of taking part in Eurovision.
In light of the current situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, and particularly in Gaza, and in Israel, we do not feel comfortable being silent.
It is important to us to stand in solidarity with the oppressed and communicate our heartfelt wish for peace, an immediate and lasting ceasefire, and the safe return of all hostages. We stand united against all forms of hate, including antisemitism and islamophobia.
We firmly believe in the unifying power of music, enabling people to transcend differences and foster meaningful conversations and connections.
We feel that it is our duty to create and uphold this space, with a strong hope that it will inspire greater compassion and empathy.”
Olly Alexander among the Eurovision 2024 artists who sign letter calling for Gaza ceasefire
The letter from Eurovision 2024 artists comes a day after the Queers for Palestine group called for the U.K.’s Olly Alexander to withdraw from the competition over Israel’s participation. They posted an open letter, which was signed by 450 queer artists, individuals and organisations.
“We share the vision of queer joy and abundance you’ve offered through your music, and share your belief in collective liberation for all,” it read. “In this spirit, we ask you to heed the Palestinian call to withdraw from Eurovision …There can be no party with a state committing apartheid and genocide. At a time when accountability is so urgently needed, Israel’s inclusion in Eurovision would enable and cover up its war crimes and crimes against humanity.”
The letter from the Eurovision 2024 artists has divided opinion and elicited strong feelings on all sides of the issue.
Amit Harari, an Israeli news anchor, replied:
“You forgot 1,400 people murdered, raped and burnt in their beds, at a music festival and at their bases on a holiday Saturday morning by terrorists without any previous aggression.”
“You forgot many details. You’re welcome to stay in your comfortable London home and leave your nose out of things you don’t know much about. Dizzy is a great song, by the way. Focus on that.”
Meanwhile, the musician OGGIE applauded Olly’s decision to remain in the competition, writing:
“I’m happy to see that you haven’t allowed the public to make up your mind for you. Being open about where you stand and still representing the U.K. is more powerful of a statement than disappearing, looking forward to you living your dreams.”
On Friday, two hours after sharing the Eurovision 2024 letter co-signed by eight other Eurovision acts, Olly posted another Instagram letter, directly addressing the Queers for Palestine letter. He said he sent the following response to them directly, but wanted to share it in full with the public alongside the collective artist statement.
“I wholeheartedly support action being taken to demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the return of all hostages and the safety and security of all civilians in Palestine and Israel.
I know some people will choose to boycott this year’s Eurovision and I understand and respect their decision.
As a participant I’ve taken a lot of time to deliberate over what to do and the options available to me. It is my current belief that removing myself from the contest wouldn’t bring us any closer to our shared goal.
Instead, I’ve been speaking with some of the other EV contestants and we’ve decided that by taking part we can use our platform to come together and call for peace.
I hope and pray that our calls are answered and there is an end to the atrocities we are seeing taking place in Gaza.
I’d like to thank the many signatories of this letter whose work I deeply admire and respect and hope that we can continue to work together in creating a better world for all of us.”
Eden Golan sings with pain. You can feel the pain. October 7 + hostages…
GOOD to know the TRUTH:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/BCvuBRBP8-w
180 DAYS. 134 HOSTAGES.
Boo Hoo! Let me take out the tiniest violin to play for you!
And I’m calling the Ambul@nce to you Cassette…. Your medical condition is REALLY worsening (oxygen is no longer coming to your brains)…. Poor you….!!
How dare you? Shame on you! This is about HOSTAGES! Do you UNDERSTAND what that is? To add, they are getting v iolated, starved, beaten, they are tortured physically and mentally. They are in pain! They suffer! They don’t deserves this! Outside Israel pictures of them are being spat at, pulled off, burnt, thrown in the bin by people who *should* know better. SHAME ON YOU!
Out of what’s happening this year with Israel, Palestine and all the other Palestinian supporters, some countries may need to be boycotted this year and onward (Israel and Iceland in particular)
Is this Palestine telling countries to boycott ESC or Israel saying it, if its neither, then someone please tell me what’s going on
BAN ISRAEL!
Indeed… B-ring A N-ecessary ISRAEL 🙂 🙂
Let me bring it back to discussion:
#BANSPAIN in Eurovision !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! “From the Ocean (Atl) to the Sea (Med) CATALUNIA will be FREE” !!!!!!!!!!! STOP CATALUNIA OCCUPATION !!! (How does it sound and feels folks? 🙂 )
None of them were in my top 10 anyway (but Israel is ;))
To those who say Israel would be destroyed if they didn’t eliminate Hmas (Roy), I see your country launched an air strike on the consulate of Iran in Syria today. A violation of TWO sovereign jurisdictions. If it was an Israeli consulate/embassy that was destroyed in an air strike it would have been called a terror1st attack and Israel would have had to respond just like 7/10. However it’s okay because it was Iran and Syria yeah? THIS IS WHY ISRAEL IS ATTACKED and why the likes of you, Roy, don’t feel safe there. Tell your government to stop picking… Read more »
Israel was attacked in October 2023. What are you talking about?
Regardless of what you said, something simple: one cannot just go about and tell a sovereign country what to do and how to defend themselves. It’s that basic. Simple. Fundamental. Core.
7/10 was a terror attack, but do to us airstriking the consulate of a country in another.
As I said, if it was an Israeli embassy destroyed today it would have been called a terror attack
“ one cannot just go about and tell a sovereign country what to do and how to defend themselves”. Tell that to Israel they seem to like doing it.
Hopefully Iran and Syria don’t respond now, though I guess it would be their fault if they did.
Israel was celebrating shabbat on 7 October. Young people were dancing and having fun. Families were happy together on their holy day. Communities got together. People were working when and where necessary. Re lig ious people were obser ving.
And consulate staff are just doing their job, much of which is general administration
Those peoples in District-G, WB or Syria are celebrating Ramadan now.
Why they are still being attackted by the IDF??
Being happy together on their holy days? Celebrating.
They hardly cant dance or having fun as all around them is destroyed and many family and friends arent there anymore.
Talking about gaslighting…
As I said on the other comment, I’m done with you because you just try to justify acts of terr0rism and deny parts of October 7th…
I think I’m done with this article too, the upvotes I got clearly give me the idea I did my part here
Upvotes mean nothing.
If you’re done with me and this article, you don’t need to say do. Talk about dramatic. This isn’t an airport, departures don’t need to be announced.
In addition, I haven’t justified 7/10 as you can clearly see in my previous comments but make up your own mind, you clearly see what you want. I don’t support terror of any kind, especially state sanctioned terror.
Best of luck.
B{tch, did you bother to check how many times missiles and drones entered the Israeli air space from Syria before you started to squeal about “A violation of TWO sovereign jurisdictions”? F-ck off buddy. We are not going to be constantly attacked and do nothing about it.
B!tch you fu ck off!
Supporting a gen0c1dal regime is disgusting.
You are constantly attacked because you attack other people. Duhhh logic is clearly lost on you. Fool.
Guys, about time we STOP reacting to Darren’s comments!! It’s obvious he is clueless about basic fact – but tries hard to dissiminate here F@ke News. It is obvious he is NOT (!!) an ESC fan but is here as an Activist on behalf of – and paid by the BDS, disguised as a “Humanitarian” saint… (what a joke!!)… No one is buying you Darren any more, even with a cheap price tag… 🙂
I’ve been an ESC fan since I was a child and have been commentating here since 2014.
I’ve only seen you recently since the genoc1de began though and you only comment about Israel so I think you’re the troll/activist here.
Paid by nobody, just speaking my mind. I get my information from many sources, not just Kan/IDF.
Goes to show what a clueless imbecile you really are.
Z1onist bot troll fu ck off. You know nothing about me
LOVE to see your Hysterical Meltdown – as you get exposed 🙂 🙂 .
Don’t pee on my leg and say it’s raining….
Your lack of wisdom and analytic capacity is more than embarrasing !! (an understatement)
Go back to your Bosses and tell them you are no longer convincig anyone… (aka TOTAL FAILURE 🙂 )
Yawn yawn
Trust me chicken I wouldn’t pee on you if you were on fire.
You talk about me having a meltdown but I will say, watching “fans” from the so called “only democracy in the Middle East” having a meltdown because we don’t justify genoc1de. Is the very definition of hysterical meltdown. Democracy my hole.
Fu ck off you sympathiser of child mur der. It’s disgusting
Your BIG (!!!!) problem Darren, is that Israel does NOT (!!!!) need YOUR (or anybody else’s Validation….) 🙂 🙂 🙂 Those days are SOOOO OVER darling (you just did’nt come to this term yet…).
Now, prepare your self-evaporation (as Leo Varadkar did…)
Don’t pollute the Cyber Space – SAVE THE PLANET 🙂
B!tch still typing? Give your fingers a rest #DoIt4Israel <3
Do I sense you are now Panicking dear…. (before evaporation?) 🙂 🙂
I’ve no need to panic
You do though 😉
Kisses x
Are you trying to seduce me with your Kisses???
You need a kiss because you’re clearly lacking compassion.
Must not have been loved as a child.
There there
Ha Ha Ha Ha…. What a comedian :-)….
Where did you buy Darren, your “Psychology” certificate??…..
A Promo on Amazon or Alibaba?? 🙂 🙂 🙂
Path3tic !!!
Kisses honey xx

I’ve never voted for ESC artists who make political statements of any kind before the contest and I do not intend to start now.
Basic humanity is not a “political statement”.
Let’s all ignore what is happening and live in our own little bubble.
It’s them today, it could be you tomorrow. You wouldn’t want us to be silent then.
Keeping politics out of ESC does not mean I’m not aware of the situation. I only say that politics and ESC shouldn’t mix.
But this issue isn’t political it’s humanitarian.
I agree politics and ESC shouldn’t mix
This isn’t politics though.
The khatufim and their families are human beings so yes, it’s humanitarian regardless.
Darren, we ALL see through your “Humanitarian” disguise (trying to hide your appaling H@m-Ass Activism)….
How about finding a REAL job?? (that will pay you more than your activism Operators?….).
You deserve better than current Yourself…
If you guys keep wanting Israel to stop, trust me, it WILL be you one day.
It’s already happening if you missed it, all those violent protests and millions of immigrants taking over your countries.
Unfortunately, Europe is living in a bubble.
Also, that statement was indeed political no matter how you look at it.
Eww how racist.
Europe isn’t being taken over by immigrants.
But rich coming from you though, considering you’re a blow in in “your” country too.
Not anything against illegal immigartion is racism…
I see what’s going on with the protests and Europeans I’ve spoken to have said many of them are committing crimes.
I’m sure many are also seeking for a safe home, that’s completely fine, but I also see the mess that’s coming your way, even if you don’t.
Kind of stupid saying “it could be me tomorrow”. It sure was me yesterday ?
(That was a laughing smiley)
It’s happening in Mexico and Chile too
@Darren, but Hey they say if we dont do this , they are coming for you in your bubble………………………
I think this happened before in our human History?
Also Im confussed once in a while with all whats happening at this current moment.
Very intense indeed.
I hope sane souls and minds will prevail in the end.
Could be a long battle, but we are gifted with hope.
Greetings and hope from the Netherlands.
It did happen before in our human history.
But from the opinions of others here, it seems it’s okay as long as it’s not their group that gets it.
It should be called out whenever it happens, wherever it happens and by whoever does it.
Auschwitz, Bucha, Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh, Sarajevo, Srebrenica, Mariupol, G@z@, WB it must be called out. Always. Or else it sets a sorry precedent.
Sorry precededent? There is the very serious and heartbreaking issue of the khatufim!!!
There is, forced into wars and conscription fur Bibi’s gain.
No wonder atrocities happen when they’re just thrown into situations like that.
Conscription has been mandatory in Israel for a long time unlike European countries where you can spend your time doing whatever and expecting *everything*.
There are families grieving as we speak so respectfully please don’t mention it.
European nations have conscription.
Yeah Palestinians are grieving just now too, where is there respect?
What continental European country has mandatory military conscription for 24 months minimum for both women and men with refusal under pe nal ty of j ai l and legit os t r ati sa tio n by the comm u nity and that is outside of N A T O, E E A or E U?
Well most European nations are in NATO
But I will reference Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Ukraine, Switzerland and Austria to name a few
So Israel is a country on its own basically to count on themselves and figure out their defence.
Also the only Jewish country in the world as opposed to the various spin-offs and whatnot.
That billions are triggered by the existence of about 14 million Jews in the w w world is questioning. Mindblowing. Buffeling. Confusing. Huh????
Ehhhm The US supports Israel unconditionally and is in various defence agreements with Israel. It’s basically the 51st state. I will say, as some commentators here seem to think because I criticise what is happening that I also denounce the existence of Israel. I do not. I support the existence of Israel however, I do not support what is happening in G@z@, I do not support what is happening in WB, I do not support what happens in Lebanon and Syria. Israel can, and should do better than what Bibi offers. He is leading the people into an abyss. I… Read more »

Go and demonstrate for all the millions who were killed in syria and yemen… hypocrites

Reading the list, some folks just fell out of my grace, and others made me dislike them more
The fact that the Israel entry is depicted with a halo behind her head, like a saint, is really disgusting …
Same thoughts here my friend.
Clever Marketing team, all sugar coating!!
Seens like the Sunrise in the video.
That’s part of the song.
Some people are making a fool of themselves here, criticizing everything about Eden.
I dont see a sunrise in District-G for that matter only death and destruction. Many peoples dying and no sauviour insight soon.
Some people making a fool of themselfs granting Eden the ESC24 Crown,
Aint gonna happen.
Khatufim whose fates are still unknown. Their families and also millions of people aching for them which is more than t o r t u re.
There is at least an international treaty outside of a factually meaningless Geneva convention or more dealing with issues of khatufim and no one seems to care. Why not???
I think those prisoners of war, are more a result of a horrendous t3rro$t attack.
The war started as a consequence of that.
On both sides innocent souls are lost despite the Geneva Convention.
Seens like the Sunrise in the video.
That’s part of the song.
Some people are making a fool of themselves here, criticizing everything about Eden.
True it is the golden circle prop from the music video, they’re saying that Hurricane’s album cover looks like Eden is a saint. Editing team really delulu to make her like this during a humanitarian crisis Israel just made.
Saints are not part of Judaism.
I dont know, but did old images from the Jewish religion depicted a halo??
Its more a Christian thing I guess?
Clever marketing by the israeli delegation, as I said before.
the more hate, the more votes Israel will be receiving yup yup, looking at a televote landslide win now
the country of my dream wife, mommy dana international
Greater compassion and empathy for the v i c t i m s and su r vi vo r s of that tragic day of October would be appreciated, and for their su r v i v in g family members and friends. Greater compassion and emphathy for the khatufim and their families and for those whose fates are unknown and the unimaginable pain all they go through. No one thinks that what happened on october 7th was good. But how dare you act like it was equivalent to everything israel has done before or since. It is not even close.
Many people do think it was good… That’s the problem.
And you’re right, it’s not even close. October 7th was much worse than anything Israel has ever done.
Don’t talk about it as if Israel was always attacking and Hmas did nothing.
Israel has always had to fight and defend itself from different organizations or countries.
“October 7th was much worse than anything it’s as k has ever done”
Like, ew.
Your mask has certainly slipped Roy, you’ve just exposed yourself as a troll. You know full well that reply would get a response.
Roy is right.
The Sa dism of H4m4s, the s3xual t0rtures, the mut ilations.. …
Its incomparable.
No, Roy isnt right as I do try to understand his reactions. I do think about what our israeli brothers and sisters are sharing about the current situation upon their Lands. The onslaught in return is also incomparable. In a free world we should discuss about this with an open view. They block this tool as we are attacking their Right to excist, based on old historical figures. Fpr some this is excistent. Many and many Peoples have a true free and liberated mind. Old historical figures? Please go back in time to the days of the making of the pyramids and the Babylonians and whatnot in the territory of Israel – Egypt – old Mesopotamia – and acknowledge who’s still here *today*.
And *please* describe and explain any war that Jews and Israelis have been ever involved with throughout of all of their histories. Dates, locations, reasons, context, outcomes. Critical thinking and reasoning and diverse, legitimate sources should you wish to go ahead with this.
I mean with old historical figures, as they has always been a fight for the jewish identity. I dont deny this. Im not a professor in History so I cant give you any specific details. Im sorry. Others are more equipped to that. But I have my knowledge out of the Tik Tock level. I dont deny the right for Peoples to excist. Though I can question the acts of a specific regime acting on a heavily disturbed situation upon their lands. If this out of proportion I try to speak out of this. Lets mention after WW2: Korea, Indonesia,… Read more »
Some (not all) of the crimes committed on 7/10 were confirmed to have been false. Many of the deaths at the music festival also occurred as a result of friendly fire.
Do keep up.
What a disgusting comment. You might think it was confirmed as false, but what can I say? You wouldn’t even believe it if it were to happen to you.
@Roy; Im with you on that.
Noo that’s not an Aprils fool joke for that matter.
We should NEVER talk down horrendous att@cks on innocent Humans, wherever on the Planet.
LO.
It is the 3rd biggest terr0r attack, so like… It’s definitely much worse. Plus, the horrors they committed are nothing like anything that is happening in G@za right now, which is just a regular war (as tragic as it is). I was watching the footage of October 7th during that day, as more and more photos and videos were published by the Palestinian Telegram channels. They had no shame, they were looking to share it all with the world, and deleted most of it, but it was too late for them as many people had already kept the footage. You… Read more »
Over 600+ people died on 7/10.
However over 30,000 Palestinians have die since as a result of IDF attacks.
That’s the equivalent of three 9/11s
But I guess those lives don’t count to you huh?
That’s before I even discuss the war crimes.
It’s disgusting that you are okay with that, and make zero reference to it.
Yeah yeah human shields blah blah blah
What had happened since DOES NOT compare.
“Human shields blah blah blah” There’s your problem xD You ignore the facts! Again, I won’t consider Hmas’ numbers as true, it’s a terr0r organzation so I have no trust in what they say. When it comes to the numbers, don’t try and find proportions, it’s war, there will be no proportions. The main difference is that Hmas targeted our civilians (you spoke about 600 but it was actually more than double the casualties that day), while IDF is targeting Hmas but as you said without the “blah” part, human shields (and of course, war, what can you do?) Do… Read more »

When Hmas is building tons of tunnels and none of them is used as shelters for civilians, and when they’re hiding amongst them, that’s how I know for a fact they’re being used as human shields, easy. Lots of steps are being taken to prevent casualties, you just think it’s not happening (are you there to say they’re not trying? “see, that’s your problem). Imagine the amount if the… Read more »
By the way, you didn’t answer to my question.
How do you think we can fight Hmas without hurting civilians?
You didn’t answer my question. HOW DO YOU KNOW??? What you saw a video of a well placed bag of weapons behind a CT scanner? UNRWA “involvement” was confirmed to be baseless hence why countries who pulled their support and now considering resumption of it. Israel isn’t a western country. And they don’t abide by international law, hence Abi is remarks in the past few days. The aid port isn’t sufficient to allow the required Humber if aid trucks in. Only the land crossing can do that, but again, as stated previously, Israel is blocking it. ICJ measures clearly aren’t… Read more »
With enough people in Israel being soldiers or knowing soldiers currently, we know the truth from 1st source, yea, that’s the answer. Now you tell me how to fight Hmas without hurting civilians. It wasn’t baseless as literally employees were caught part of the October 7th attack. Israel is western no matter how you try to twist it. Dude, Jews have been discriminated against since forever. Literally. They cannot live in peace in their own homeland. Unlike the Irish, Spanish and Italian and English and German and Lebanese and Norwegian and Japanese and Chinese folk etc who’ve left their own countries to go to the Americas for example, historically speaking, Jews have actually returned to their ancestral land. The Irish experience was due to persecution actually.
Not to mention the genoc1de that was the famine. But after independence, those who were of settler ancestry fled persecution.
There was also penal laws introduced on the island during occupation by which catholics couldn’t practice their religion, couldn’t speak Irish etc.
during the struggle for independence, the British forces (Black and Tans) burned down whole towns and cities (Cork) as collective punishment.
So not just Jews as you say.
I was talking about the context of the world wars specifically in regard to the Jewish population and the atrocities of the wars where *various* countries, *collectively* persecuted and punished them.
Nevertheless, the plight of the Irish was serious and so was that of the Ukrainian (famine as well) in their times and they are shameful in the European history and something to be acknowledged.
You could have poissened them all with intelligent secret operations.
Look at Russia or China, Iran maybe?? !!
Masters in this craft.
He says something and he gets hated. I seriously don’t get the Eurofans.
Why is it so wrong to sing for peace? I thought we learned this lesson from John Lennon.
Imagine: Eden Golan singing together with a Palestinian artist.
Imagine: Ukraine’s artists singing alongside a Russian band.
Imagine: Armenia and Azerbaijan’s performing a mash-up together.
Tell me I’m out of touch, idealistic and weak, and then watch me as I stand on stage with a piano nearby and shout into a megaphone: “We must sing for peace, now, before it is too late.”
That’s the problem right there – you guys think Israel is fighting the Palestinians as a whole.
Hmas is the enemy, not the civilians.
I won’t talk about the other countries mentioned because I’m sure I don’t know the full picture. Something people around the world should do as well – stay out of topics they don’t know much about.
We all want peace, but I swear to god, some of you guys are living in a sweet bubble that is just far from reality…
“ Hmas is the enemy, not the civilians”
Wonder why most of the deaths have been civilians then. Or why Palestinians have been subjected under the Israeli jackboot for decades, or why the likes of Daniella Weiss openly tells CNN how Arabs have lost their right to live in G@z@ etc etc.
C’mon Roy stop trying to gaslight us.
I will not take Hmas’ numbers of casualties as a fact, but you do you. I will not talk about Daniella because I’m not her and I don’t even know who that is. If you want to ask how come many civilians have died, ask Hmas why they built so many tunnels but none of them are shelters for the civilians. Ask them why they’re hiding in hospitals, schools, refugee camps. We will try to secure our safety while you pretend to be an expert to the middle east. I ain’t gaslighting anyone. By this logic, UK government shouldn’t have fought Nazis, they should’ve just sit back quietly and let all Brits get killed because we’re against the war, and we all know that the best way to stop the war is to be a good victim and take it. Shameful, absolutely, shameful. There’s no way any of these artists can get my vote. Ew
Stop brown nosing. It’s pathetic
Israel are the abusers. Like do you know anything about what they have done? At all?
They really afraid from Eden’s “Hurricane” aren’t they? 🙂 Europe don’t know what coming for them in May…. no one will talk about them… only on Israel, as the world should. Fantastic song and the best vocal this year.
More Israeli threats directed at Europe. Honestly, when is enough, enough?
Where do you even see a threat in this comment?
You know what a real threat is? A ceasefire now with Hmas still standing, that’s a threat, on OUR lives
What threat? Lol There aren’t any threats.
Troy is talking about Eden who will overwhelm the crowd in May, according to Troy who is a big fan of her. If you have read the other comments you know he adores her.
Overhyped song in my opinion.
Just proves that you don’t even have ONE braincell!
If Israeli’s are so obsessed with being accepted as part of Europe and needing to be part of the ESC, why don’t they all pack up their bags and move there. Poland & Russia preferably considering thats where they all immigrated from. Professional squatters.
That’s… not how it works
Hey! Yes, quick history lesson – not all Jews came from Poland and Russia honey 🙂
Besides those who already lived here before 1948, Jews came here from Europe – because of antisemitism and world war 2, some (like my family) came from different Arab/Muslim countries, from Africa and Asia, because of antisemitism of course, some from countries southern to those in Africa, such as Ethiopia, Eritrea, and from many other nations.
You go learn history, then come back and talk to us, ok?
Just a side-note:
Antisemitism is no more important than Islamophobia. Stop making antisemitism a dramatic term that buys you a get out of jail card. All hate is hate, and Jews don’t get a special pass.
Facts
Never said anything against Islamophobia. Hate is hate and we should all condemn it.
The difference is that antisemitism literally leads to the killing of many Jews and Israelis (even non Jews) while islamophobia, at the moment, not as much.
Life is not all about proportions, it’s not symetrical. Jews are more hated then Muslims and more Jews are being damaged by it.
We say Grace for your Words.
True patriotism is being able to criticisize your leaders when they are wrong.
Have you seen the Israelis? We’ve done nothing but that in the last year or so… Before and after the attack…
We all have different opinion regarding the war but you have a massive concensus on one thing – it needs to end with Hmas not existing anymore and with our hostages back home.
Don’t worry, we all criticise the government on a daily basis, but you won’t meet many Israelis wanting the war to be over before they feel safe again.
But it’s not just about hmas though is it? With Israel meddling and bringing more pain and misery to the Lebanon, Syria and so on…..the issue is the Israeli government who are creating the problem with other countries. I never see any of you speaking out openly or acknowledging the problems of your own murderous leaders who are triggering the ‘hate’ you civilians are experiencing. Nobody was a threat until your leaders interfered and created the ‘monster’. And now they’re leading you through one of the darkest periods in your memory but you still blame just hmas. There wouldn’t be… Read more »
Hmas is the one to blame because they committed the attack, simple as that. We left G@za in 2005 and since they elected Hmas and they started launching missiles, we had to act to secure our safety. Don’t blame Israel for anything bad in Lebanon or Syria, that’s on them. Hezb0llah are destroying Lebanon and Assad is destroying Syria, with Iran giving them both support. If Israel didn’t exist, there still wouldn’t be peace in the middle east. If you want to hear what Israelis have to say against the government, you’re just not watching the correct media sources. Come… Read more »
Why is that??
In the Craddle of the Birth of civilisations there has been always wars. Whilst corrupt leaders always spoke about Peace.
Isnt it Time healing this big wound in Human History??
Nobody has the real key, but we are fighting eachother getting it for thousands of years already!!
Isnt it the time to stop this?
AMEN to that
Ah, that’s why there are so many Pro-Pal. protests against H@m@s on the streets of Europe.
Do you remember the last year broadcaster’s collectively withdrew?
That was 1970. And it was not for political reasons.
* Laughs in Austria 1969 boycott*
For those who don’t know: In 1970, Austria, Finland, Norway, Portugal and Sweden boycotted the ESC as they were not pleased with the result of the previous year and the voting structure. Background: In 1969, four entries had finished with the same number of points, so four joint winners were declared. The show’s host in 1969 even had to ask “Mr. Brown” live on camera what she should do with the trophy at the end! We may laugh at it today, but it was a hugely divisive moment at the time. The silver lining of all of this was that… Read more »
And how many threatened to a year ago when russia was booted to save face? Where was that energy this year in light of even more heinous crimes?
Who cares what a bunch of (mostly)unknown singers think about a political situation in the middle east lmaao. They are so desperate for attention.
and what ya are doing here…………………….??
Who cares what you think.
Cry about it
i do, booohh hooh………………..
The time to withdraw from the contest in protest over Israel was earlier this year, before any entries were chosen. Unfortunately, the broadcasters all had no balls and pushed the responsibility of deciding to go to Eurovision on the chosen artist. They’re now being picked on by various groups to withdraw, but why should they? Why should they miss out on the chance of international exposure because the EBU and the broadcasters were toothless? I really feel for Ollie, as he seems to be being picked on more than others. Owen Jones (for non-UK readers, he’s a loudmouth socialist journalist)… Read more »
other countries don’t need to withdraw when there only should be one country outed but unfortunately EBU lacked the balls to act accordingly (out of fears of a negative backlash lol)
also Russia wasn’t technically banned, you can’t ban what is no longer a member, and the russian broadcaster officially left the EBU entirely
That’s what I said, the EBU should have done something, but didn’t. They passed the buck to the broadcasters, who also lacked balls, sp they passed the buck to the chosen singers, who are now facing abuse over going to Eurovision.
A horrible situation all around. At least we know for sure now how awful the EBU is.
Exactly.
The lack of having gutts with the EBU concerning the participation of Israel in ESC24 has laid a big burden on this whole edition.
I hope they dont regret this decision.
If anything goes smooth its good for them.
When irregularities occur they might…….???
Enjoy ESC24
I’m gonna relax and enjoy the shows for the sake of lighthearted entertainment value, fun distraction from all negativity in the world
Also don’t eden her song wouldve been talked about as much if there was no controversy, quite a inoffensive mediocre ballad
All of you on that list, musicians and music lovers and artists, remember who started the war and remember Nova 2023. You check out the piano rendition of a song that sounds very close to “Am Yisrael Chai”, it was performed in the Hostages Square in Tel Aviv by Michael Dickson. I’m so sorry I don’t have your musical talent so please also check out Eyal Golan’s “Am Yisrael Chai” and let me know here in the comments if it’s the same song. Also, check out the song and video of “Ascent” by Matisyahu, the video was shot at the… Read more »
no thank you, have no interest in hebrew music lol
Shoshana Damari is an very good artist from Israel, her songs in Hebrew are very good.
?
I even got a delicious CD of her music, bought in Tel Aviv 30 years ago.
no one cares? i really wouldn’t miss Israel in the contest anymore now
What the hell did I just read
You seem to have a very short memory which is just attached to your georgraphical leaning….the w4r was started decades ago. Not just because this recent trigger happens to be in your life span.
Let’s not erase the decades of Isr4eli m3ddling in G4z4 and all the hundreds of thousands of people erased through that meddling.
The problem are your leaders…..stand up and acknowledge the real issue here instead of being a deliberate amnesiac
You are wrong about everything you wrote there but it’s you who has to live with yourself and that’s good, you have a life, unlike the people who tragically died that fateful day. And it’s a fact that you don’t know what you are writing about. If you are passionate about something you could at least have the curiosity to confirm that what you believe is historical fact and real. You are lacking so, so, so much. The greatest thing about humans is the capacity to learn, *deliberate* learning I mean. Do you know who’s great at learning? Jews and… Read more »
Even if you were from planet Mars, pumpkin.
We dont judge your birth cradlle.
We all ALL humans with the same eternal red Blood.
“The greatest thing about humans is the capacity to learn, *deliberate* learning I mean. Do you know who’s great at learning?”-end of quote.
Well, well you have to be REALLY good in fighting in words with dear soul: AMAAN STORM.
But you need to learn, dear!!
Keep on learning. It isnt there yet.
Peace to you.
Peace, war, they are inseparable realities but I appreciate the sentiment. I love “cradle”, in a word association game I hear “cradle” I say “love” and imo the greatest love song ever is Idan Raichel Project’s “Mimaamakim”. I used to sing it in my head after the fateful day thinking about the hostages and wishing that that they are safe and that there is a home for them, and that they are loved, and that they *will* come home. The song is featured in the closing credits of “The Red Sea Diving Resort”, it’s a very good movie. You should… Read more »
Thanks for pointing at Ascent” by Matisyahu.
Especially the second half is very strong.
Queers for Palestine? Why not chickens for KFC… This is hilarious.. What a wonderful example of unprofessional and biased reportage Wiwibloggs. You refuse listening to the Israeli song calling it “political”, and yet you keep covering such items that are explicitly political against Israel over and over again. Hypocrisy or bad taste? maybe just pure bias against Israelis and Jews. If Israelis/Jews get hurt in Malmo please do not look surprise – you are planting the seeds for that. I said it once, I’ll say it again – I don’t feel safe here and in large parts of the ESC… Read more »
You guys cannot play antisemitism card anymore, it doesn’t work.
…silencing anyone who dare to think otherwise. QED.
we can and you can’t stop us
if Israel wins, we won’t recognize this ESC year from ever having happened
Eden Golan should watch her back, that generic christina aguilera clone with no own personality or talent
Labelling the calls for ceasefire as “antisemitism” is the most stupid thing I have ever heard in my life.
Don’t twist my words please.
I’m not, you are triggered by this Wiwi article reporting on artists calling for a literal ceasefire and release of the hostages.
I’m not triggered by ceasefire efforts, that’s intellectual laziness to depict what I’ve said in that manner. I truly feel threatened and unsafe in the ESC community and in general in the past few months. Lets make an experiment, go ahead and identify yourself in public as an Israeli or Jewish in Malmo (or London, Paris, Amsterdam…), try to wear a Kippa on your head or Magen David on you chest – lets see how you’d be treated. Try to make a reaction to the Israeli song for ESC or say something in Israel favor in this unfolding conflict in… Read more »
The other humans on the Planet, we the Goim are having the same feelings as you Peoples. In this Room I have expercienced also the same attitude from your side. “Who is silencing who here? Who is boycotting who here? And who is reporting in a biased manner against who here?” You blame us for not understanding your situation, but we try and reject the attrocites commited by H-m@s. You are only deffending your point of view, thats the RIGHT One!! Leaving no room for a much needed proper discussion between good hearted People. According to dutch media reports massive… Read more »
A ceasfire will lead to Israel destruction and to the growing of the chance of Ireland to qualify
Your “calls for ceasefire” are calls for Israelis to get killed and have their country wiped from the face of earth. That’s pretty much in line with the definition of antisemitism, you morons.
I wouldn’t necessarily call it antisemitic, but it is rather stupid to call for a ceasefire now.
What do you expect Israelis to do the day after the ceasefire?
We still have hostages there, and even if they return as part of the ceasefire, Hmas still exists.
Can you gurantee they won’t commit another October 7th? Or launch another rockets at Israeli civilians?
If you can’t do that, better to just let us finish the job then.
Believe me when I say both Israelis and Palestinians will do much better without Hmas in the world…
When we, the other humans on the planet are calling out our worries, concerns and shock about what is happening in District-G, the WB and in israel. You and your Ilk are putting those peoples aside with: Anti-semitic, N@zies, t-0rist supporters, evil, mentally sick, desillusional, KF chicken, Jew h@ ters, brainwashed and believing only the newsfeed on Tick Tok……………………………………etc etc. You dont show an opening in dialoque at all. You have closed all the gates. But blaming the others in doing so. How dare you stating: “You all behave like a herd or some kind of a brainless mob, silencing… Read more »
Agree. They are not allowing us to criticise their government yet they are allowed to criticise virtually anyone and call them with whatever bad words exist in the dictionary.
Precisely!!
This heavy vibe will reflect at ESC24 in any shape or form.
WATERLOO 2024, for the good or the bad.
I hope we might be up for some big suprises tho.
For what its worth it ofc.
There are SOOO many wars and conflicts going round in the World.
The kettle is boiling hot.
Stay cool, be proud and speak out loud !!
Let’s come Together!!
from the Netherlands XXX
Calling others ‘You and your Ilk’ doesn’t sound like you wanna reach to others as you claim, Fizzpunk.
Also all your other comments say the exact opposite.
For you it’s not dangerous to go on the street or share your thoughts.
People can even go outside and call to g*s the jews and not get arrested.
This weekend here.
I also don’t get that Queers for Palestine thing. When I first heard the Chickens for KFC, I had a good laugh.
Your mantra is the same as in previous reactions.
You cant gaslight me buddy!!
I hope you and your ilk have a fine ESC24,
You only pick out what you would like to read and whats suiting your narrative,
lets Come Together, EUROPAPA
What do you mean by ”You and your Ilk’ here?
‘Queers’ in general, ‘Queers for Israel’, or anyone who doesn’t agree with you?
Let’s come together?
Together with whom?
With someone who calls others here ”You and your Ilk’?
No thanks.
You only like what you like to read.
Do read some more toxic accusations across the Room in the posts. My words are quite rossy compared to them.
I never want together with you also.
But Hey, Enjoy ESC24!!
Kisses for you and your ilk.
Bye
That’s why I stopped commenting on this site and on r/Eurovision, everything revolves around this conflict and everyone seems to side with H4m4s :/
Everyone sides with Palestine as we have said time and time again.
But no surprise there with an Israeli/Israeli supporter picking and choosing what they want to read.
It’s the likes of you, and Roy who are keeping the site like this by commenting bait to get us to respond. You love the drama.
Tf is u talking about?
But wiwiblogs members love Tel Aviv when they come to the gay parties…
What about Italy’s aggression encircling poor San Marino. Nobody mentions that … only when they give each other 12 points people start reacting !!!!
Is this satire?
Yes it’s satire to lighten up the conversation and if nobody got it then I didn’t express myself properly
Oh okay I thought you’re genuinely asking this lol.
Was I supposed to laugh out loud at this? ’cause I did XDD
Well I you have a bad song…the only logic thing is to go against Israel again.
All this staitments just weeking the moderate Israeli, public ..cus them to belive what the right wing in Israel is right…the world is hostile for jewas.
It’s just keep the peace far way.
The world isn’t hostile to Jews though?
“Hostile” is a bit of a far-fetched word, I’d say more like some countries are unfriendly towards Israel. Specifically countries from the Arab world.
What are you talking about?
Besides the Jews who were targeted around the world, most Jews nowadays are quite afraid to just exist in different countries…
Even before the war, Jews are thinking twice and more if they should even wear Jewish symbols, and Israelis are considering not speaking Hebrew in the streets…
And what about the rampant Islamophobia in streets of the world?
Burka band in France etc.
Every city in Europe has a Jewish/Holocaust museum, Jewish cultural centers etc.
if Muslims so much as open a community center is shrouded in suspicion.
Stop playing the victim Roy, you have more, of fact you’ve been given, more than most in this world.
I can’t talk about Islamophobia because I don’t feel educated enough on this topic.
I can say that hate, racism, such as Islamophobia, is never right and I will always condemn it (see how easy it is to condemn something like that? Unlike those who never condemn Hmas).
But the bitter truth is that there is much more antisemitism in the world, and Jews are truly being hurt and targeted by it.
We’re done playing the victim, don’t you worry about that. We’re just right.
I think it’s pretty obvious we all condemn Hms. Obviously. However, there would be no Hms if Israel didn’t create the conditions for them to come to power. Also the collect punishment of ALL Palestinians and the forced famine, blockade and higher number of civilian deaths compared to 7/10 shows that Israel needs to also be condemned. THIS. IS. WHAT. WE. MEAN. But Israeli commentators on here are so toxic and take it sooo personally. Throwing out all kinds of labels to shut down an argument that they are clearly losing. Grand, stop playing the victim and accept that Israel… Read more »
Applause!!
LETS COME TOGETHER
you are the toxic!
forced famine? really? go and learn facts
Well stopping trucks delivering food into the region, mining farmland do it cannot be cultivated, mass hunger and starvation resulting in people using animal feed to make food.
Sounds like forced famine to me.
YOU are the definition of toxicity. Go find your humanity then come back to me coz you just look dumb af right now. X
@Darren: Touchee, Bro.
Says a Trump supporter in one of the Bible Belt States of the USA.
because is,am is a religion of peace… they brought to europe so much peace.
Tarnishing everyone with the one brush? Sounds like Islamophobia to me.
Though collective punishment is your forte so I’m not surprised.
