Summer is the quiet period for Eurovision fans as we wait for the new season to commence. Thankfully, the music will always continue and a number of Eurovision artists are still producing new songs for us to enjoy.

Contrary to the commonly perpetuated myth about the song contest killing careers, we’re always thrilled to report that singers associated with Eurovision are thriving.

Here is our latest weekly roundup with a selection of the songs released recently by Eurovision stars.

New music from Eurovision artists: 2024 | Week 35

Bambie Thug – “Hex So Heavy”

After representing Ireland in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, Bambie Thug is back and not playing around. We kick off the week with an “Ouija pop” track, as Bambie Thug likes to describe their style, which is actually a spectacular blend of hyperpunk and electro-pop. The music video features two main characters, a witch and a nymph, who bring horror and gothic aesthetics to life with some unbelievably well-realised costumes. The lyrics of their latest track, “You trying to get in my way/ Telling people not to work with Bambie Thug (you the plague)/ Pretty funny how they all still fucking eating me up/ I got revenge on my tongue and I got some diss in my cup/ I got bruises on my mind but that ain’t taking no toll on me/ I know I’m on your mind with all the shit that you stole from me/ Snake, say what you like – but you ‘don’t even know me’/ I’m the muse that you use, pick pocket, you owe me,” speak about revenge, delivering a strong and uncensored diss to anyone who tries to mess with them. Regarding the concept of the music video, Bambie Thug told Kerrang! Magazine:

“The video tells the story of a shapeshifting witch conjuring spells of revenge from the underworld, and a cunning nymph above ground who has stolen a magical machete from the witch. The nymph, basking in her ill-gotten gains and the adoration of others, believes she’s escaped unscathed. But little does she know, the witch has been watching and waiting to strike back. Drawing inspiration from Suspiria and Lord Of The Rings, Hex So Heavy is the first chapter in a saga about reclaiming authenticity stolen by another.”

Victoria & Anitta – “GET UP BITCH! shake ya ass”

Victoria, the bass player of Måneskin—the Italian rock band that won Eurovision in 2021 and achieved worldwide success—has now stepped into the spotlight with a project of her own. In addition to her role as a bassist, she is also a well-recognized DJ, touring the world with her electrifying sets. Now, she’s released her debut song, a collaboration with the famous Brazilian singer Anitta. The track is a club anthem, showcasing Victoria’s incredible ability to transform every beat into a funk EDM masterpiece, perfectly complemented by Anitta’s captivating vocals. Get up out of your chairs and get ready to dance! “Come on, give me more, play some funk,” the song declares—a party invitation that’s hard to refuse. The music video further highlights the incredible chemistry between these two artists.

Jerry Heil – “#AllEyesOnKids”

Jerry Heil represented Ukraine this year alongside alyona alyona, making their country proud. Her new song carries a powerful message about protecting Ukrainian children in times of war. The song even features the hashtag #AllEyesOnKids. It was inspired by the real story of Kira, a 14-year-old girl from Mariupol who, after losing her father, stepped on a landmine while attempting to escape the city. She was then abducted by the occupiers and taken to Donetsk, a territory currently not under Ukrainian control. Thanks to her grandfather’s efforts, she was eventually brought back. Jerry Heil directed the music video herself. The song is a dialogue between a mother and child, with the mother promising that her light will burn bright, guiding the child home. The child, navigating through darkness, follows this thread of light, which resonates like a mother’s lullaby. This quiet but steadfast beacon leads the lyrical hero back to the love and care of those who await them. Speaking about the song, Jerry said:

“I want this track to be the voice of every child dreaming of returning home. And I want everyone who hears it to feel that pain, but also the hope that one day all these children will be back in the arms of their families. I urge everyone to become the voice of the child whose story touched you and to share it on social media with the hashtag #AllEyesOnKids. All attention — to the children!”

Flo Rida & Chase Matthew – “Floats Your Boat”

The well-known international star Flo Rida, who represented San Marino alongside Senhit in 2021, is back and ready to take you on a boat party with his latest song, a collaboration with fellow American artist Chase Matthew. This track is the ultimate summer anthem, perfect for these days as we bid farewell to yet another summer season. The music video radiates good vibes, encouraging you to party and find “whatever floats your boat/ When you’re out on the waves.”

Amir – “Complémentaires”

Amir, who represented France in 2016, is set to release a brand-new album on 13 September, titled C Amir. His latest song, titled “Complementary,” is a beautiful ballad with outstanding lyrics about love and two people living together with one beating heart, their lives beautifully intertwined. The lyrics express the desire to spend a lifetime with a loved one: “Time won’t be harmful/ You know, I can’t wait to grow old with you/ I won’t let you leave the earth/ I’ll put myself between heaven and you.” The song is accompanied by a lyric video, perfect for singing along.

Baby Lasagna – “Biggie Boom Boom”

Get ready for something spooky! Baby Lasagna, who represented Croatia in this year’s Eurovision and won the public’s vote and their hearts, is back with a new song that’s as catchy as his Eurovision entry, but with a dark twist. In the music video, Baby Lasagna is more alive than ever—at his own funeral—showcasing authentic Croatian funeral traditions, such as placing coins on the deceased’s eyes. The video evokes both a vampire story and a sequel to The Addams Family. The lyrics, “Bim bara bim bara biggie biggie boom/ I wanna know what I can do in your room (…)/ Yeah bim bara boom bara biggie biggie boom/ Come on honey let’s dance in your room,” may seem cheeky at first, but they carry a deeper meaning. The song addresses the anxiety that creeps up on a person like an unseen ghost. Marko opened up about the song, its message, and the personal significance it holds for him, saying:

“‘Biggie Boom Boom’ was written on 31st of March 2023 and I felt like it could be something more, more than just one song – a project. Therefore I feel like I need to share this with you, to share how special this is for me. How frightening and exciting this is. Tomorrow the song that started everything comes out.

“The craziest part is that somebody is here to listen to it – you guys. A year ago I was recording, producing and publishing my music but it was barely getting few hundred views, and now there’s an army of you here, actually ready to listen to it, and I just can’t express how humbling that is. How life changing and heartwarming this is. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for truly making 9 year old Marko’s dream come to life.

“The song is sung from a perspective of anxiety and the music video might be dark, but at the end of it, as you will see, it presents light, it presents a way out, it presents hope. Hope that I wish upon all of you who struggle with any kind of anxiety hardships.”

Reyhan Karaca – “Sen Yaktın”

Reyhan, who represented Turkey in 1991, is bringing back the authentic Turkish vibe of the ’90s with a brand-new song that infuses numerous traditional elements. In the music video, she appears full of confidence as she sings about the sweetness and bitterness of love, with both pride and nostalgia. The song captures the perfect summer sound, while the lyrics reflect on a love that has burned to ashes: “What a pity for all those memories/ We lived with lies/ Years passed and you forgot/ Really, what a shame of you!”

Barbara Pravi – “Exister”

Poetic speech and music converge in Barbara Pravi’s new song. The French artist, who represented her country in 2021, is set to release a new album on 6 September. In the meantime, she gives us one more teaser. With a powerful music video in which every emotion is vividly expressed through Barbara’s eyes, she has crafted a song about the value of life and how people are often blinded by the pursuit of fortune, only to find themselves living in a state of unfulfilled desire, even when their lives feel empty: “What’s the point of life/ Exist/ If it’s not to do/ Exist/ All my crazy ideas/ Exist/ And all my furies/ Exist/ Oh, I could kill to/ Exist/ I have neither faith nor law/ Exist/ I don’t look like anyone/ Exist/ Who do you want me to be afraid of?” The song is deeply powerful, allowing the audience to feel the intense emotions of anger and pain that Barbara conveys so well. Speaking about the song, she said:

“Between rage and madness, this song burns and it is by far my biggest performance.”

S10 & Froukje – “Ik Haat Hem Voor Jou”

S10, who represented the Netherlands in 2022, is back with her third collaboration with fellow Dutch artist and friend Froukje. Their new song is the ultimate friendship anthem, with the two girls embodying a modern version of Thelma and Louise. The EDM track features harmonious vocals, with parts where their voices blend seamlessly into one. Titled “I Hate Him for You,” the song is about standing by your best friend and hating her ex after he hurt her. It highlights how, sometimes, a soulmate is a best friend rather than a lover, as the lyrics reassure that if they don’t find anyone else, they’ll always have each other. The music video conveys this sentiment in a funny and cute way, showing the two friends exchanging rings and holding a private wedding ceremony. “Do you hate your ex? I hate him for you/ If no one wants me, I’ll marry you/ No matter how it goes, I’ll grow old with you/ Will you stay with me? Then I’ll stay with you.”

Edurne – éXtasis

Edurne, who represented Spain in 2015, is back with a new album that brings a wave of ecstasy. After releasing several singles from it, the album is now available. She spent two years working on this album, which features 13 tracks. While she has previously included electronic pop tracks in her work, she wanted to revisit this genre with a fresh twist and a touch of retro influences. This album marks her eighth release, underscoring her impressive and enduring career. It includes numerous cheerful dance tracks, showcasing the best of Spanish pop music, with some local influences woven in. Notable collaborations include “Te Quedaste Solo” with NIA, “La Playlist” with Mar Lucas, and a duet version of “Mil Motivos” with Yarea, a song initially released in 2022.

Tina Karol – “Відчиняю”

Ukrainian star Tina Karol, who represented her country at Eurovision in 2006, is set to release a new album on 19 September. The album will open with her latest single, “Opening.” Infused with feminine energy, the song features a music video that highlights Tina’s dynamic dance skills like never before. Tina promises that this upcoming album, which she describes as the best of her career, is filled with themes of emancipation and self-expression. The song is about embracing life fully, finding the freedom to live in a way that makes you happy: “And I open the door to a new day/ And I open the door and drive randomly/ And I open the door to these night lights/ Something beats in my chest and says open it again.”

PEPTALK feat. Montaigne – “Your World”

Montaigne was initially selected to represent Australia in 2020, but the contest was canceled due to the pandemic. She returned to Eurovision in 2021 and is now back with a new song. Her latest track is a collaboration with the American group PEPTALK from New York. Montaigne lends her unique voice to this pop-punk anthem about claiming your world and living your best life. The song is a high-energy booster, perfect for getting you pumped up.

ela. – “Ein Kleines Bisschen Glücklich”

A cheerful tune comes from Germany. Under the name Elaiza, ela. represented her country in 2014. Her newest track, titled “A Little Bit Happy,” has a serene vibe and showcases beautiful German landscapes in its music video, along with her radiant smile. The lyrics reflect on the journey to happiness: “I’ve overlooked happiness for far too long/ I wanted to run before I knew how to walk/ How are you supposed to get there when the goal is moving?/ And how many miles have you covered in the process?” From these reflections, ela. concludes that sometimes luck and happiness find you, and the waiting is worthwhile.

TEYA – Grandma On The Dancefloor

Teya, who represented Austria in 2023 alongside Salena, is back with a new album inspired by an intriguing source. After being possessed by the ghost of Edgar to create her latest work, Teya found herself imagining her future from the perspective of an elderly woman. The album, which features seven tracks, tells a story with each song, blending Europop and ballads in a way that’s sure to captivate listeners. “Behind the Scenes” and “Not Scared of Growing Old,” both of which Teya released prior to the album, add a dark pop flavor. “To-Do List” is a surprising standout with its almost authentic cha-cha-cha sound, referencing the Latin genre, not Kaarija’s famous song.

PAENDA – “60k Savage”

Back in 2019, PAENDA represented Austria, and now she’s back with a fierce new track that will boost your confidence to new heights. The music video, presented through a phone screen, highlights the impact of social media on fame and success. In the song, PAENDA boldly asserts her worth and readiness for recognition: “Mirror mirror on the screen/ Throw me money like a queen.” The catchy, uplifting track explores how, in today’s world, filming yourself and sharing it online can lead to money and fame by putting yourself out there.

Daree feat. Riskykidd, Seth, DJ.Silence & GODSQUAD – “DANGEROUS”

Riskykidd, who represented Greece in 2014, is back with a song about living life on the edge. This hip-hop and rap track is perfect for fans of the genre. It features a collaboration with Daree, Seth, DJ.Silence, and GODSQUAD, who bring an original sound and create a unique beat together. Their combined efforts deliver a fresh and dynamic track that stands out.

Regína Ósk & Svenni Þór – “Óvænt ferðalag”

Regína, who represented Iceland in 2008 as part of Eurobandið, has released a new song with her husband, Svenni. The beautiful ballad, titled “An Unexpected Journey,” marks their 16 years of marriage. The lyrics reflect on the long journey they have traveled together and the joy they find in each other’s company. Additionally, the couple is set to release a new album together, which will come out on New Year’s Day.

KALUSH – “А вона”

We end this week’s roundup with a heartfelt love song from Ukraine. The track, titled “And She,” comes from KALUSH (Oleg) of Kalush Orchestra, who won Eurovision in 2022. Accompanied by an animated music video, the song is dedicated to his girlfriend in celebration of her birthday. Oleg wrote the song while traveling with her on a train to Kyiv, capturing a moment when she appeared truly happy. He also shared that for his girlfriend’s birthday, he wishes her only good health, as it is the one thing he cannot influence himself.

Just to address some inaccuracies:

  1. In Victoria and Anitta: Victoria was on the band that won in 2021;
  2. In ela., she represented Germany in 2014.

Have a nice week.
