The Eurovision 2025 season is beginning to heat up. Over the course of the next few months, we will all fall in and out of love with scores of new national final and Eurovision entries. But that doesn’t mean we forget about the artists from past contests.

Contrary to the commonly perpetuated myth about the song contest killing careers, we’re always thrilled to report that singers associated with Eurovision are thriving.

Here is our latest weekly roundup with a selection of the songs released recently by Eurovision stars.

New music from Eurovision artists: 2025 | Week 4

Marina Satti – “EPANO STO TRAPEZI”

Despite all the success Marina Satti achieved in 2024, there were still critics and trolls who attempted to pull her down. Not one to give up, the Greek star responds with her new single “EPANO STO TRAPEZI” (“On the table”), which once again blends traditional Greek and modern pop sounds.

Satti sings about the media’s unquenchable need for more, and the effects this has on her as an artist: “Inside the loop, inside the bubble / They have it all, yet they want more / Panic grips me, my body’s trembling / I spill my drink on the table.” The accompanying music video expresses this visually — we see the Eurovision 2024 singer being dragged like a lamb to the slaughter, with the watching press transforming into a carnivorous swarm.

Bilal Hassani – “La question”

“What was the question? It all begins with these words. A simple sentence, but one that opens a huge door, that of doubts, dreams and answers that we all seek, sometimes without finding them.”

Bilal Hassani ponders life in his newest song. It’s an emotional ballad that commences with the French singer’s vocals being paired with a piano melody. The song then increasingly swells with extra orchestral accompaniment as the Eurovision 2019 alum pulls off the chains that used to hold him down:

“Sometimes I feel pressure / But I don’t have an ounce / Of contempt and disgust / For this body that I sculpt / I don’t hear the insults / That come out of the manhole covers […] I will not return well behaved / Inside your boxes / I will break all the cages / In which you will lock me / In which I I’ll lock myself in.”

Baby Lasagna – “Stress”

Stress is a staple of life that everyone experiences. This makes it particularly important to find ways of overcoming it. For Baby Lasagna, it’s all about spending time with his loved one. Croatia’s Eurovision 2024 star recommends they should laugh and cry about it together: “You and me and my demons, baby / I’ve been feeling so lonely lately / Let’s throw a party, baby / So you can show me where it hurts, yeah.”

As a mid-tempo piece, this latest single is tamer than the music many fans will know Baby Lasagna for. But it gives us a final insight into the breadth of work we’ll hear on his debut studio album, arriving in two week’s time.

Aiko – “Cleopatra”

Cleopatra is a popular subject for Eurovision stars. Aiko delivers her take on the Egyptian queen with a feisty pop-punk punch. In the lyrics, Czechia’s Eurovision 2024 star compares someone she knows to the Hellenistic pharaoh: “Call her Cleopatra / On the mattress, I guess / She could realign all of my chakras […] Omen, she belongs to no man / Scaring all the romans / Breaks your heart like Trojan / Cleopatra.” Writing about the song on Instagram, Aiko added:

“Cleopatra is to remind you just how badass you are, Cleopatra is about liberation, freedom and the beauty of doing whatever you want. Cleopatra is to be blasted in the car with your windows down.”

Mustii – “MOONDUST”

Back in December, Mustii released his latest studio album, THE MAZE. The LP contained a dance interlude titled “MOONDUST (PART 2).” You may have been confused and wondering why you’d never heard PART 1 before. In a reversal of usual custom, the Belgian star now decided to share the prelude, second.

A driving glam-pop track, Mustii goes through a journey in the song. Whilst he begins by believing a certain person is on his side, the Eurovision 2024 star eventually realises they are more like a drug that is harming him in the long-term: “You really get me / You really understand it all / You really want me / There’s a catch, my fault / This tastes like moondust / For my broken heart / I’ve got so many lies / I need permission to stop.”

Sakis Rouvas – “Kontra Pao”

Get ready to party with Sakis Rouvas. The two-time Eurovision participant for Greece brings us a catchy pop offering so that we can banish the winter blues and alternatively focus on joy. In the lyrics of “Kontra Pao” (“I Go Against”), Souvas reveals that his personal joy manifests itself from blazing his own path and not allowing anyone to define him: “And I am no one’s property / In pain I close the form / That’s why I feel joy / I go against / I fight with everyone and everything / And I love crazy and dreamy / I go against / And I chase lightning.”

KALUSH feat. Хтось Із Заходу – “Горе”

The KALUSHcollab series is back for 2025. This 21st edition sees Ukraine’s Eurovision 2022 champion join forces with Someone From The West. The pair deliver an R&B-rap track about “Горе” (“Grief”), discussing the longing to break free from their pain. They hope their hearts will instead be filled with peace and silence: “My grief flows through my pores / And so it scratches my heart with its claws / My grief, I believe it will soon burn to the end / My grief, I let you go.”

Carola – “Tack”

Norwegian singer Stein Torleif Bjella released a song called “Takk” (“Thanks”) in 2023. This original was a mid-tempo country/bluegrass tune. However, when it came for Carola to re-interpret the song for her appearance on Hver gang vi møtes, the three-time Eurovision singer — and 1991 champion — decided to turn the BPM right up and transform it into a soul-gospel-disco bop. Carola dedicates this particular song to all her fans that have been with her throughout her career:

“Thanks for EVERYTHING – to you, my beloved fantastic audience and supporter for all the years !! Think. Some are new and some have been around for 42 years now. (A pretty large ‘part’ of Scandinavia including..) Absolutely incredible!! So my latest song that I just released, I want to say today a big THANK YOU to you who went far and saw me in concert, who took selfies with me, who I talked to, signed autographs to, prayed with and for, laughed and cried with over the years! Thank you dear.”

Andrei Ursu & Andra – “De-ai fi in locul meu”

Eurovision 2022 star Andrei Ursu is teaming up with acclaimed Romanian singer Andra for this new single. “De-ai fi in locul meu” (“If you were in my place”) is a somewhat stripped-back song driven by percussion melodies. This allows Andrei and Andra to highlight their voices, which blend well together.

Lyrically, the pair discuss how they don’t have the capacity to think about themselves, because their hearts are filled with so much love for the other: “If you were in my place and you saw / How I see you / You would be filled with love / Maybe you would feel too / How my heart seems to forget about me / When I look at you / I would go anywhere in the world / Wherever you are.”

Paula Seling – “Cetatea Mea”

“If the sky were to fall / Over the waters and the land / My country, my fortress / Over the world and then it would watch.”

Paula Seling’s latest single, “Cetatea Mea” (“My Fortress”), is a tribute to Romania and its history. The two-time Eurovision contestant has taken inspiration from the Neamț Citadel in the east of the country and used it to create a dramatic song that mixes traditional flute melodies with rock elements. In the description of the accompanying music video, Seling goes into detail about why she chose to write a song about the historical landmark:

“The piece represents a celebration of the Neamț Fortress, a place with a profound significance for the history of Romania. However, the message of the piece goes beyond the borders of the place and becomes a tribute to the whole of Romania – a ‘fortress’ full of stories, traditions and priceless cultural values. The song’s video was filmed right in the impressive setting of the Neamț Citadel, highlighting the beauty and symbolism of this medieval fortification. It captures the essence of national pride and the deep connection we have with our past. I cordially invite you to discover ‘Cetatea Mea’, a song that urges us to cherish our roots, to look with pride at history, and to celebrate Romania as a city of culture and spirit.”

Chris Harms feat. VNV Nation – “The Grey Machines”

In less than a week’s time, Chris Harms will be debuting his first ever solo studio album. As one final teaser, the German singer has shared “The Grey Machines.” The Lord Of The Lost frontman has collaborated with VNV Nation, a British-Irish electronic music group, for this particular song. They combine their love of 80’s music to produce a synth heavy tune.

In the chorus, they sing: “Why do I need wings to fly / When falling feels so sound / Why do I need open skies / When I can kiss the ground / Oh, The Grey Machines / Revolve in rhythm / Oh, The Grey Machines / A new religion.”

Malik Harris – “Better Man”

Malik Harris begins 2025 with the new song “Better Man.” Germany’s Eurovision 2022 representative delivers an emotional piano ballad that builds in the final moments courtesy of a backing choir.

In the lyrics, Harris takes the first step in admitting that he’s not perfect and a cause behind his failing relationship. But, the singer is not ready to give up yet and knows there are ways in which he can improve for the both of them: “We all have our edges / We all have our flaws / We all have our scars and / Our bridges to cross / But every time I hold you close I know you’re worth it / I wanna be a better man.”

Emmelie de Forest – “Drown In Champagne”

“I’m gonna drown in champagne / And wipe out your name / I go down in one / ‘Till your face is gone, gone.”

Emmelie de Forest is continuing the musical project that she started in 2024. Whilst her songs last year were focused on the positive side of love, “Drown In Champagne” takes a look at the pain it can also bring when it goes wrong. In a post on Instagram, Denmark’s Eurovision 2014 champion revealed that this single was in fact the first of her recent output to be created:

“’Drown In Champagne’ was actually the first song we wrote for this new project and the one that kick-started it all! It’s a classic heartbreak song about dealing with loss and grief in your own way – about finding small moments of comfort.”

Kállay Saunders – “i need you right now”

There’s lots of new music coming for fans of Kállay Saunders since the Hungarian singer is set to release a new album in the coming months. The first glimpse of the LP comes in the form of “i need you right now.” It’s an R&B-soul single that allows the Eurovision 2014 alum to showcase his rich vocals. Commenting about the message behind his latest song, Saunders noted:

“This song is very personal to me. It’s about vulnerability, love, and the need for connection, which I think is something we can all relate to. Creating this track was a journey, and I’m thrilled to finally share it with the world.”

Eva Boto – “Ostani”

Eva Boto kicked off the New Year with a lot of colour. Slovenia’s Eurovision 2012 act invited family, friends, neighbours and acquaintances to be part of her latest music video, where they coloured each other with love — and lots of paint.

The joyous video pairs well with the sentiment of “Ostani” (“Stay”), which sees Eva asking her loved ones to stick with her through difficult times: “Stay with me, when laughter disappears / When the world around us sinks / When the last flame of the fire burns out / Stay with me, we will go together / To draw new stars in the sky / And colour the world with love.”

Bobbysocks – “Joyful” (Melodi Grand Prix)
