France is yet to announce their internally selected act for Stockholm, but that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating. And things just got very interesting recently with France’s Head of Delegation Edoardo Grassi making a very curious tweet.

Yesterday Edoardo tweeted his love for “Alive”, the debut single from upcoming French singer Sasha.

What made made Eurofans pay attention was the song. The Sia-style ballad is bilingual — dramatic French verses and a soaring English chorus — and it comes in just over three minutes. In other words, it’s looking a lot like a potential French Eurovision entry.

But also interesting was a Facebook post made by Nathalie André, the Director of Entertainment at France 2, who is also heavily involved with the French Eurovision selection process. It looks like she is also a fan of Sasha’s new song.

Nathalie Andre, Sasha, Facebook, France

In December, Nathalie talked about what France was looking for in its 2016 song – a contemporary song that “suits our era” that will probably have some English lyrics. This sounds like “Alive”… but also “Moustache”.

Sasha herself has done nothing to extinguish the fiery inferno of rumours.

“Would you do the Eurovision Song Contest,” a fan asks. Sasha replies “Yes, why not? This would be a crazy experience!” She also retweeted another comment from the fan who told her the song had been getting a positive reaction on Eurovision forums.

So what’s going on here? Is the French team testing the water with Sasha’s song to see what kind of reaction it gets? Or are they just all random fans of her debut single?

What do you think? Would “Alive” make a good choice for France? Can it get them back on the left-hand side of the scoreboard? Share your thoughts below.

This sounds so modern and refreshing.

All they need is a decent stage performance and voila..

YES! I really hope that it’s truely the french entry for eurovision! With this song, France will finish in the top 10 for sure! France never finished in top 10 since 2009 with Patricia Kass’s “S’il fallait le faire” and the country never finished in the top 5 since 2002 with Sandrine François’s “Il faut du temps” and Sasha’s MASTERPIECE will allow france to refind success for sure!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

But wait, what about Louane rumours?

I still have a strong feeling that it’ll be Louane representing France. Her latest single “Nos secrets” is also bilingual.

It is quite popular recently, actually, the French artists releasing more Franglais songs.

On which language was the chorus again? It’s not French nor English…hahaha…

Anyhow, as for the song itself – it is dead boring, sorry. Even for balad standards. But, in cases like this, the live performance is what one song can make special. And I assume that it will give me shivers, without liking it the song per se (if elected).

Nothing special. France need something BOOM to reach TOP 10. This song is fine and modern, but not so strong for Eurovision.

It took me a while to realize the chorus is in English, don’t know what she’s saying but she might as well say it in French. It’s an okay song, very Sia indeed, could maybe crack the top-10 (although it could also fail miserably as the chorus is pretty difficult to sing).

If she works on her enunciation so you can actually hear the chorus, this could do well which makes a change from France always doing badly.

Don’t know who she is (I’m from Switzerland, so usually French singers are famous in our country too), which means that France has again failed to attract big names… But hey, if she does well, maybe it will bring the really famous French singers in 2017. 🙂

If they have picked her and this song then I think France could do top 10.
It’s in a similar vein to Rhythm Inside and Love Injected.

With a decent position in the running order and a good stage presence this would do very well indeed.

Apart from the fact that it’s bilingual (I’d prefer it in either French or English only), I like this.
