There’s no degree of separation and there’s no degree of space between us and Francesca Michielin, Italy’s representative at Eurovision 2016. Our William had the pleasure of chatting with the “No Degree of Separation” singer at Amsterdam’s Eurovision in Concert on Saturday. And can we just say that we’re officially in love with her (and her jumpsuit).

The Italian starlet told us all about her feelings on stage, revealing that she’s a “volcano girl” — lava comes out when she sings. That’s true artistry, y’all!
Francesca also explained why she decided to sing part of her entry in English: “My song has got a very beautiful message of sharing love and peace, and I think it’s important that everybody can understand this”.
The 21 year old is well up for the Eurovision challenge, whilst acknowledging that representing Italy after Il Volo “is not simple”. However, last year’s popera stars aren’t her favourite ever Italian representatives. That honour goes to her close friend Marco Mengoni, who’s told her to stay calm in Stockholm.
The conversation soon turned to Sanremo. She came second, but was given the opportunity to represent her country after the winners declined. Finishing second in the world’s longest running TV music festival at such a young age is no mean feat, Francesca knows it and is extremely proud.
The aforementioned lava was released later in the evening, as Francesca delivered a rousing rendition of her Eurovision entry. We can’t wait for the next eruption in May.

She was really good in A’ dam, very authentic, and her expression about Lava fits. One of my top5. Good that she doesn t care about last year il voll, that also for me was completely overrated.
