Emmelie de Forest has now been dancing for five weeks on Denmark’s version of Strictly Come Dancing (Vild Med Dans), and the 2013 Eurovision winner has experienced both ups and downs. So let’s take a look at how she has been doing now the show is almost half way through its run.
A shaky start
In the very first programme of this season’s Vild Med Dans, Emmelie and her partner Frederik Nonnemann danced a quickstep. Emmelie looked very beautiful in her blue dress, but also seemed a bit insecure on the dance floor. The couple received 6 points from the judges who are notoriously tough during the first rounds. The 6 points secured them a respectable place as number 7 out of 12 competing couples. On this first programme all the dancers got through to the next round.
Emmelie herself said ahead of the show that she never really dances, and that it would be a real challenge for her to compete on the show, which is one of the most popular in Denmark with one million viewers every week.
Her insecurities were, however, pushed aside in the second programme where the Eurovision winner danced a sexy and steamy hot paso doble and earned herself a fifth place finish and also managed to double her score to 12 points.
Highest score and dance off
The theme of the third programme was “musicals” and Emmelie had been given the task of dancing a waltz to the music from the iconic hit “Mary Poppins”. Emmelie looked absolutely stunning in her burgundy Mary Poppins dress topped with a black glitter hat as she elegantly glided over the dance floor with an umbrella in her hand. The judges were thrilled and she got her highest score yet: 17 points. Surprisingly, the viewers weren’t as enthused and Emmelie found herself in a dance off which she ultimately won.
Unleashing her booty…and another dance off
Her fourth dance was a samba. After her surprising dance off in programme three, Emmelie told the Danish press that she would “unleash her booty” for the upcoming Latin samba dance. And that she did! Wearing a bright pink short dress with fringes she booty-shook across the dance floor earning a respectable 16 points from the judges.
Last night Emmelie continued in the Latin genre with a cha cha cha, but unlike the week before she didn’t manage to scrape enough points together to get through to next week’s programme. She only got 12 points and finished second to last and, not surprisingly, had to dance once again — and won.
“It’s been hard with two Latin dances in a row. It’s just not my strongest side”, she told Danish TV2. “But I’m just so happy that we’ll get another chance”.

I doubt it, but who knows? She’s definitely kept onetoe in Eurovision with stuff like Anja’s first attempt and Mever Give Up on You.
