Even though English has been a dominant language on the Eurovision stage since the language rule change back in 1999, some countries still choose to dazzle us in their native language.
And this year is no exception. We have 11 countries that are singing their entire song or the majority of their song in a non-English language: Albania, France, Georgia, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia and Spain.
We asked you to choose your favourite out of these 11 non-English songs of Eurovision 2019. And now we are revealing the results. After 6,980 votes it’s “Soldi” by Italy’s Mahmood that has come out on top. The Italian heartthrob won your hearts with 1,422 votes, or 20.37% of all those cast.
Italy’s win here was basically a landslide, as “Soldi” got a little over 500 more votes than second place finisher Conan Osíris from Portugal. His song “Telemóveis” secured second place with 900 votes, or nearly 13% of all those cast.
In third place it’s Iceland’s Hatari with “Hatrið mun sigra”. The leather-clad BDSM-themed group earned 867 votes, or 12.42% of the total.
Three other songs earned more than 10% of the vote. In fourth place comes Albania’s Jonida with “Ktheju Tokës” with 784 votes, or 11.2%. Then we have Slovenia’s Zala and Gasper with “Sebi” and Spain’s Miki with “La Venda”.
The final five songs earned between 1.07% to 6.75% of the votes, respectively.

That’s a funny username and comment combo! If I didn’t know better I’d assume you were hitting on him
lmao PIRYDDDDT
nearly my entire top ten is in this poll… High quality native language songs this year. 😀
(Nr2 and nr3 are my nr2 and nr1)
Funny how all native language songs are in with a shot of qualifying to the Final (Except Georgia)…..whereas many English ones are already out…..
Yes I agree ! Soldi is my favourite song among all the songs of the competition, in english and not-english…
I like songs in native language, my second favourite in absolut in the competition is Portugal, Conan Osiris, another amazing artist… a lot of things in common with mahmood
personality wise they’re very different…. conan issa down to earth guy whereas mahmood is stuck up af n i say it as a fan from italy.
He’s not stuck up; people think so but it’s not true, have you heard him speaking in interviews? He’s quite shy and very busy in this last period and so he could appear like that but it’s not ttue…Do you remember that he never talked bad about anybody? He defended also Ultimo ….
Listen to andy of eurovoxx, he said before the interview he did to mahmood in london he was very nervous thinking to meet a very important person but then he discovered a Mahmood very humble and friendly…
idk the general opinion here is that he’s very talented but he’s also known for not interacting with fans. maybe he’s shy maybe he thinks he’s beyoncé idk
Among the first things he said when he won sanremo, he mentioned that he’d have to improve his facial expressions/reactions and his presence on social media… He didn’t do either xD but he does make more Instagram stories. Definitely doesn’t sound like beyonce to me, more like constantly “on the clouds”
Ultimo seems more.like beyonce tbh xD
ultimo is the typical rough person from the outskirts of rome (ragazzo di borgata we say), he’s just poorly mannered
I don’t think so. He doesn’t interact in social media with fans but it’s difficult for him, he’s so busy…. And he said he doesn’t want to answer, in instagram or facebook, to some persons and not to others…. But he was very nice with people at the instores, and I saw the live (for example rairadio 2 and radio italia) and the concerts, he interacts a lot with the public. When he did a little concert just before sanremo, circolo ohibò in milan, aftrr the concert he went drinking a bier with the public… Also in interviews and the… Read more »
I think he’s a very nice guy and it’s clear to me he’s easily embarrassed and not completely comfortable in front of cameras or during interviews, bus he’s somehow “manipulated” by his producers/label as well. Just look at his latest collaboration, I have quite a few things to say about that… (Charlie Charles is overrated and don’t fight me on this)
My comment keep getting filtered, okay…
Anyway, I think he’s a very nice guy, he’s easily embarrassed and he often looks clearly uncomfortable during interviews to me, which might come through as haughty maybe, but I think he’s being ‘manipulated’ by his label/producers as well. Just look at his latest collaboration, I have quite a few things to say about that… (and Charlie Charles is overrated don’t fight me on this)
he literally collaborated with italy’s most popular yet most untalented trapper for those 14 year old spotify streams lmao he sold out
yea in that song he collabed with sfera ebbasta aka the most popular yet most untalented trapper in italy. he sold out for those middle school streams lmao
i mean he collabed with sfera ebbasta in that song aka italy’s most untalented trapper to get those easy middle schooler spotify streams, not good for his integrity
And that’s because of Charlie and Dardust… Not much he could do about it I guess. Who I blame the most though is Fibra. That collaboration to me looked like a (very poor) answer to Takagi & Ketra feat Paradiso, Jovanotti and Calcutta. Neither to say, I stand on their side.
