All change! As Eurofans already know, Spain has ditched its national final and selected singer Blas Canto pretty early in the Eurovision season. While they have taken a low key approach on their path to Rotterdam, the Big 5 country has definitely not been resting.
Recently Blas gave an interview to a big radio station in Valencia, sharing some tantalising information about the song selection process. The information can be found at the 2:55:00 mark on the link below.

The ex-Auryn singer says that there are several songs on the table and that he has his slew of favourite proposals. And among them there is one red-hot favourite.
“It’s neither a ballad nor uptempo,” he says. “It’s more like a very interesting mid-tempo, a new register.”
He denied that it was like his previous hits, but he doesn’t deny that it has a similar essence to his previous, and most popular, song, “El no soy yo”. Apparently it is “intimate in the verses” and “has a very epic chorus”. He hope the final song that is chosen has the essence of this one.
He added that he’s involved in every part of the song and lyrics, and, when asked about who had the final say on choosing the song, Blas replied that both TVE and himself will hopefully arrive on an agreement, and present a song everyone can be proud of. He said that the eventual song will be selected and finished by the end of January.
He’s also mentioned his final concert of 2019, which will take place on December 17th in Madrid. “I wish they’d allow me to perform the song that day, but I think it’s too soon”
What do you think? Do you think Blas has selected the right approach for Rotterdam? Which style would you like to hear him sing in? Let us know in the comments below!
Deseo mucha suerte a Blas en Roterdam. Voy a cruzar mis dedos.
Just send Melani ;-))
An intimate staging as Duncan had along with a descent song can bring Spain back to top 10
Spain will flop hard this year
Mark my words
Why you say that? I dont want that for Spain or Belgium:)
We haven’t finished in the top 5 this century, at this point finishing below 20th isn’t a flop, its expected.
I hope he goes for smth beautiful that touches. And as for the staging, I hope that Spain doesn’t make its eternal mistake of overchoreographing the whole thing, like energetic dancers where they should stay away.
good thing issa midtempo, considering current hits are mostly midtempo. i expect a song that sounds like it was recorded in 2020 from him
agree his previous music is rather too bland for Eurovision.
Hoping for something modern, that’s all I want from him.
