Facing a reduced budget and ongoing financial problems, Slovakia’s state broadcaster RTVS has confirmed that it will not participate in Eurovision 2012, despite rumors to the contrary.
According to Medialine.sk, officials at the broadcaster wanted to pull out of the contest last year. But the scantily-clad TWiiNS agreed to pay their own way, which might explain why they appeared in so many photos without any clothes. In any case, Slovakia has failed to advance past the semi-finals since it began participating in the contest again in 2009, following a ten-year absence. Officials are sick of it and have chosen to use their restricted budget on domestic programs, instead.
