Bulgaria: BNT gives hints for final three songs “You Will Be the Change”, “Love Never Lies” and “A New Home”20
Bulgarian broadcaster BNT has dropped keyword hints for the final three songs vying to be chosen in the country’s internal selection process. The broadcaster has now revealed clues for all 13 songs in this year’s internal selection process.
First is a song with an ambitious title, “You Will be the Change”. It’s described as a “pop-rock track sung by a male vocalist” and is “mid-tempo”. And it’s music with a message. The song has a “message focused on ecological issues”.
Next is “Love Never Lies”. The graphic includes “beauty” crossed out, possibly paying tribute to Bojana Stamenov’s top ten banger “Beauty Never Lies” from 2015. Are the two songs similar? All we know is that the Bulgarian hopeful is described as “Eurodisco”.
And finally, there is “A New Home”. It’s described as a “contemporary jazz song” with a “chill out” feeling. Following Salvador Sobral’s win in 2017, jazz-inspired performances are looking to be one of the dominating themes for Eurovision 2018.
THE 13 SONGS IN BULGARIA’S INTERNAL SELECTION
- “A New Home”
- “Bad News”
- “Cold as Ice”
- “Love Never Lies”
- “Lovers to Enemies”
- “Sky Symphony”

The Bulgarian broadcaster has one month to pick their entry for Lisbon. The 13 projects will be assessed by four different focus groups. The broadcaster aims to not just find the best song in demo form but to find the best entry for Eurovision 2018.
The act will be selected by 31 January, but it won’t be revealed to the public until 12 March. In the six weeks between selection and announcement, the song will be given a post-production polish. Afterall, with two top-five finishes in the last two years, Bulgaria has a track record to uphold.
Earlier today, BNT revealed details of how fans can become part of one of the focus groups that will be used to rate the 13 songs. Potential panellists just need to get on Twitter and tell @bg_eurovision why they’d be the ideal candidate.
