Thomas G:son, the man behind Loreen’s “Euphoria”, knows how to write a dance track. I’m less convinced by his efforts with “Waterfall”, the ballad Nodi & Sophie will sing on behalf of Georgia at ESC 2013.

I don’t mind the sugary sweet sentiment. Ballads are meant to be cheesy and include lines like “you’re my heartbeat” and “I’m breathing because of you”. Totally get that. And it’s obvious that Nodi & Sophie can sing. But this ballad lacks the wow factor of “Shine”, Georgia’s ballad from 2010. I have no doubt Georgia will pull out some AMAZING STAGING—they always do. But I will not be looping this on my iPod any time soon.

What do you think of the song?

There’s no me without you
Don’t know what I would do
You’re my heartbeat
I’m breathing because of you

There’s no world without us
Dreams would turn into dust
You’re the reason, the reason I make it through

Feels like I’m flying
Like if I had wings
Like I am sailing on a sea of dreams
Your love is pouring down on me like a
Waterfall

In a moment like this
I’m in a state of peace
I’m swept away
I look into an open sky

Feels like I’m flying
Like if I had wings
Like I am sailing on a sea of dreams
Your love is pouring down on me like a
Waterfall

Standing in the waterfall

Waterfall….
Waterfall….

Feels like I’m flying
Like if I had wings
Like I am sailing on a sea of dreams
Your love is pouring down on me like a
Waterfall

This is so boring… most of us think the russian entry is lame, but this is really boring and 1994, that type of ballads doesn’t connect with the auddience, and Nodi’s english is very bad

I like it. But I had a slightly odd experience when I first heard it: __oh no. Don’t do it G:son. Don’t…He did it. I need a time out__ Fortunately, no else seems to have been bothered that he recycled the climax of “Quedate Conmigo” so soon. And at least he waited until after Spain’s big show, allowing Pastora to own it one last time before the torch was officially passed to ESDM. I got over it. I don’t really understand why this is being faulted. It conveys emotion through creative use of stylistic forms that people implicitly understand, and… Read more »

I get the impression that the learned the song parrot style. It’s a soppy ballad and I kind of feel it’s been done before. I’m sure it will reach the final, but from the above performance, I doubt it will be a winner. Maybe they will bring along that Jedward fountain from last year

At least it’s a massive improvement from last year’s entry for Georgia!

Sending a ballad is always going to be a risky decision, considering they don’t often fare well with the televoting public. If Nodi & Sophie are capable of delivering a flawless performance, then they could impress the Eurovison juries.

However, Georgia could be in for some stiff competition with the likes of Ukraine and Russia when it comes to Eastern European ballads this year.

maybe it is because we do not believe what they are singing! it does not look real what they are doing on stage…a ballad most be told to the people and they must believe it, then you have a good ballad!
They sing very good, but they do not tell us the story that must be told!
(Woww that was deep thinking:))
