After representing Romania in Malmö with the polarizing song “It’s My Life” and finishing 13th on the Grand Final scoreboard, Cezar “The Voice” Ouatu had a short week of rehearsals before singing alongside Andrea Bocelli and girlfriend Angela Gheorghiu in Bucharest, and today he released his new single, “Painful Love”.
The Romanian countertenor stated, upon his return to Bucharest, that he was disappointed with the results and that, “unfortunately Romania doesn’t sit well strategically and geopolitically at the Eurovision Song Contest”. Nonetheless, Cezar’s popularity doubled since he performed on the Eurovision stage (he has twice as many fans on Facebook now compared to before the second semifinal) and he is encouraged to continue with his pop-operatic efforts to dazzle this growing audience.
“Painful Love” will be included on Cezar’s new album, which is set to be released later this year.

The new single sounds very good indeed. As some viewer on YouTube pointed out, he might have had a chance to place higher in Malmö with this romantic ballad. What do you think?

@StillEuroFan – EBU said at some point that it could not forbid the national televisions to release this data, if they are required by law to do so. So it’s not impossible to find out how the Spanish public/jury voted, but I guess it’s up to the Spanish press or fans to ask for this information.
Bogdan, here is the answer to your main question: I don’t think Cezar would win Eurovision with Painful love. Perhaps he would reach 2-3 positions, but I am not sure. No more than a cosmetic adjustment. Without any doubt, he is the major victim of 2013 jury vote. On the other hand, the music is the real winner, due to Cezar artistic performance. The public felt that and voted Cezar. I think he would gain the same public score, no matter the country he would sing for. This is a much better song than “It’s My Life.” Romania should’ve submitted something more like a ballad with Cezar.

I think he has amazing talent. His Eurovision song was terrible. His performance laugable. Here the song is great, really suits his unique voice and this should have been his song and he would have got my vote and maybe rembered as more (quote my freinds) the guy in the big skirt… the ‘Master’ from Doctor who … in the 80’s you mean… yeah”
