Today, Estonia’s Birgit Õigemeel released her first solo single after Eurovision, a song by the name of “Nii täiuslik see,” or “This is so perfect.”
Now, I know what y’all are thinking. The LAST thing I need to listen to in this heat is another slow, sleepy ballad by Birgit. But au contraire, dear readers!
Birgit’s new single is refreshingly upbeat and makes for easy listening. It’s happy, sweet and, perhaps most importantly, won’t lull you to sleep. Sure it might not be anything revolutionary, but the lyrics are cute: “It’s so perfect being here together with you, since we don’t need anything else.” Okay. Maybe it’s ruul ruul cheesy, but I’d rather listen to upbeat cheese than not!
Now, if that’s way too much Estonian dairy for y’all, you can also check out Birgit’s other summer single with the electric violin group Violina, “Sea of Life.” It’s quite…different than “Et uus saaks alguse” or “Nii täiuslik see.” A nice electronic violin staccato beat pumps through the song, and it’s catchy enough, but…I’m not sure what is up with demonic mermaid Birgit in the video. Ruul creepy, y’all!
What do you think of Birgit’s new songs? Would either song have been a better choice for ESC? Let us know in the comments box below!
