Greece, Men of Koza Mostra, 4

Koza Mostra—our favourite Greek boyband that we really shouldn’t be allowed to call a boyband—has finally returned with a new single after their surprising 6th place finish in Malmö.  The single “TI KANO EDO”—or “What am I doing here?”— dropped yesterday along with a new music video.

We may have lost Agathonas Iakovidis (the old man with the tiny guitar) since Eurovision, but the kilts, craziness and guitar swinging remain—and they’re as charming as ever. The video shows a guy waking up in a field and running across the countryside, presumably with a terrible hangover. Maybe the free alcohol wasn’t such a good idea after all, eh?

As the video progresses, the storyline and the entire song begin to make less and less sense to those those of us who don’t understand the lyrics (it’s all Greek to me…). But what we’ve learned from Koza Mostra over the past few months is that they do not expect us to make sense of anything they do and that we’re supposed to be left slightly confused after watching one of their videos. #success.

If you liked their Eurovision entry “Alcohol is Free”, you’re bound to love the new single and music video just as much. Heineken, the Dutch beer company, knows that. That’s why they’ll be using the new single and video as part of their Greek advertising campaign. Alcohol may be free, but we suspect the band’s participation wasn’t!
