When Loreen confirmed her attendance at the Musikhjälpen in Gothenburg, it instantly became one of the most anticipated calendar events of the year. Musikhjalpen, which literally translates to Music Aid in English, is a Swedish music fundraising event which began life in 2008. The show is an appeal for money which each year helps good causes.
For the star-studded event a number of radio and television personalities are locked inside a glass house and they run broadcasts from there live on major radio stations. Some of the biggest names this year included Agnes, Horse Boy and Sarah Dawn Finer. Those activities are broadcast on television through the main Swedish channel SVT. People send text messages requesting a song, with each text costing 50 Swedish kronor- all towards good charitable causes.
When Loreen hit the stage, she was asked to re-interpret Coldplay’s “Fix You”. She appeared on stage in a white cloak dress, marking a striking departure from her dark wardrobe. When she took to the mic, Loreen injected her stamp on the hit song. The bare-bones arrangement added to the depth of her delivery. “Fix You” is a song that has had remarkable exposure in the charts and on popular TV programmes and talent shows. However, Loreen elevated the modern standard into a Samaritan’s hymn. She exudes magic. It’s serene. In a world where Eurovision stars come and go, Loreen manages to keep surprising us. Well done!
100 percent STUNNING. I hope she’ll do a recorded version, even though this is already great. Best Eurovision winner of the millennium, without a doubt. 😀
Loreen was really in the zone with this one, I loved it
Beautiful. Just Beautiful.
And I mean tears of joy, of course. She is incredibly gifted.
“Tears stream down your face” accurately describes me whenever I see a new Loreen live performance.
STUNNING performance and STUNNING song choice … Remarkable Loreen!
Loreen is amazing 🙂
