After a fantastic night with ten really strong and fun songs, Denmark whittled it down to one.
This year’s host country showed Europe that after Emmelie’s victory there’s still one or two good musicians kicking around near Copenhagen. It wasn’t an easy decision but after the first round of performances there were three finalists: Basim with ‘Cliche Love Song’, Michael Rune feat. Natascha Bessez with ‘Wanna Be Loved’ and Rebekka Thornbech with ‘Your Lies’. Our readers correctly predicted two of the top three!
After a reprise of their songs jury votes were combined with televotes and Basim was announced as Denmark’s representative for Copenhagen 2014 with ‘Cliche Love Song’. Are you feeling it? Do you think that Denmark has a shot at winning for a second year in a row?
Winner:
Basim (1st Place with 30 Points):
Runners Up:
Rebekka Thornbech (2nd Place with 15 Points):
Michael Rune feat. Natascha Bessez (2nd Place with 15 Points):
Cliche Love Song Lyrics:
Skuba duba dubda dididay
Skuba duba dubda dididay, I love you
I met this lady
She was looking so damn fine
But she was crazy
It was all about party time
And lately
I felt like something’s wrong
So flaky and shaky
When the sun went down
It was boom boom boom
When she walked the room
Even girls, they whistle
I know it’s hard to get her
She’s a special girl
It feels like
Skuba duba dubda dididay
Skuba duba dubda dididay, I love you
A damn cliché baby
Skuba duba dubda dididay
Baby I’m-a do whatever you like, I love you
A damn cliché baby
Oh oh oh – hey
Oh oh oh – hey
Oh oh oh – hey
A damn cliché baby
Like Katy Perry
She could kiss a lucky girl
Taste like cherry
She could rock your world
Cloud seven
I never felt like this before
She took me closer to heave
Oh my God, let’s go
It was boom boom boom
When she walked the room
Even girls, they whistle
I know it’s hard to get her
She’s a special girl
It feels like
Skuba duba dubda dididay
Skuba duba dubda dididay, I love you
A damn cliché baby
Skuba duba dubda dididay
Baby I’m-a do whatever you like, I love you
A damn cliché baby
Now tell me what I gotta do
Just give that little clue
A damn cliché baby
Now I’m just feeling blue
I gotta break through to you, yeah
A damn cliché baby
It feels like
Skuba duba dubda dididay
Skuba duba dubda dididay
I love you
A damn cliché baby
Skuba duba dubda dididay
Baby I’m-a do whatever you like, I love you
A damn cliché baby
Skuba duba dubda dididay
Skuba duba dubda dididay, I love you
A damn cliché baby
Skuba duba dubda dididay
Baby I’m-a do whatever you like, I love you
A damn cliché love song

Denmark is going to win. The song is new and fresh. A happy song you will remember after the eurovision. I also like the song from netherlands. But most of the songs was so boring. Go Basim. you are the best.
First Ace Wilder and now Michael Rune feat. Natascha Bessez? I think Sweden and Denmark don’t want to succeed this year…
Not the best, but I like it. It’s great in a bar to have fun with friends.
I’m with you on this Nadia. This crowd seems to either want some Diva ballad or Euro dance music. Anything else is not welcome.
I don’t get all the hate???
The song is so catchy and positive! I really wanna dance around when I hear this song. It’s a bit cheesy – yes?? But can’t you hear his beautiful voice through the microphone? He’s growing as an artist! I remember, when he was in x factor, and I remember all the bad vocals.. Where are they now?? Good job Basim! You did great, and I hope to hear more songs soon! 🙂
Horrible, bad, bad choice !!
OMG, what an awful song! I couldn’t even bear to listen until the end…
I knew this song would receive a lot of hate. I’m actually pretty happy it won, it was my favourite from the start and didn’t think it would even make it to the top 3, imagine my surprise when it did and not only that, but went ahead and won the entire competition, haha!
Anyway, I think is cute and probably won’t do that well in ESC but regardless, I like it! Congrats Basim!
They might win for a second year in a row. This is cute song and I like it very much. This will bring more happiness to the contest Denmark and Sweden are my favorites so far.
It made scream at my tv that this song won, it’s so bad and cheesy
Petar: Actuelly i Think Michael Rune lost because Natasha is not a Danish artist and then because Cliche love song hits both kids teens and elder people But the judges pretty much decided it giving him top points My favorit was shes the one with Danni Elmo But im fine with the result Your lies was much worse so just happy that did not win But some Danish viewers look at where the artist is from and Think its not a Danish entry when the Singer is from the country of Stars and stripes And then then Basim is known… Read more »
People here always complain. This is a great song. It’s modern, fresh and it’s something we have never heard in Eurovision before. This will not win of course, but I have no doubt Denmark will get a decent result with this.
I like it. It’s really radio friendly and a feel-good song! It won’t be on my top 5 but I will always enjoy it. Reminds me of Bruno Mars a lot! Good choice Denmark, and Sweden also!
Dhani, I’M TOTALLY AGAINST YOU!!! you may be right on Denmark but Sweden chooses a great song this year!!!
Hmm. Surprising. Dansk MGP had some really good entries this year so I’m surprised they chose this. But he sings well and the song isn’t bad. It’s just sort of average. But he gives a great performance.
Oh dear Denmark. . . . Michael Rune “Wanna be Loved” was the perfect song to defend the crown Heard the song once and i was tapping my foot instantly U really cannot beat a good sax solo haha It would have got a huge vote across Europe I know for a fact that here in Ireland it would have gone down a storm Next house party i’m putting this on loud speaker A great clubbing song as for what they have chosen, YAWN, Bruno Mars wannabe, won’t be seeing the Danes in the top 10 this year Tbh i… Read more »
Denmark killed the competition yet again, the song is so on trend and all the haters ….. to the left
Sickly sweet, boring, generic pop. The Scandinavians are really disappointing this year. Iceland, Finland and Denmark are all shocking, but Sweden is alright. All my hopes are riding on Norway, and if that doesn’t turn out well… I really don’t know.
With this song Denmark in TOP 10 in final 100 %, and maybe TOP 5 50% maximum 4 place in final.
Michael Rune feat. Natascha Bessez lost because Natasha clothes.
It is not a boring song it’s so enjoyable and sincere. Every moment in song is really catchy. Good luck in the grand final.
The Song is somewhat childish, but also very catchy. It is probably the kind of Song that commentators will hate. But it is also very likely, that many people will vote for it, at the Eurovision.
The comments on this site are so helpful to me. They present such a negative indicator of the songs that I will like and, based on last year, what the voters will like. Look for Denmark to win and for Cake to Bake to make the final.
Good Olly Murs impersonation
Frankly, it looks like Scandinavia is sick of hosting the contest and they are trying so hard to push the trophy away.
Only Norway remains. Let’s see if they follow the trend.
Belarus + Switzerland = Denmark
just kidding, guys. I like the song and the winner. We need more happy songs in the contest.
Urgh why bother watching Eurovision this year? It’s worse than last year. But we expected Denmark to pick an awful song as they never do well when they host the contest and this year is no exception. The only good songs are from Lithuania, Italy, Spain, Israel, The UK and Poland.
Im upset too
WTF Michael Rune feat. Natascha Bessez was the best
IDK what was with juries… Were they drunk…?
Shit from Denmark this year
It’s catchy. I hate it because of it! 🙂 I didn’t even notice this song, but I was watching it live and boy, he actually enjoyed 100% and he transmitted that energy + you can clearly singalong. Checks made for a good presentation of a well, boring song, if you hear it audio-wise. And yes, he is the Bruno Mars of this year ESC. And, that flag at the end! It worked. But I’m strongly against it (it diffuses the attention from the song). But, at last, it’s all about the show presented, with a tune in the background. Well… Read more »
OMG!! Nordics went crazy this year…. I’ll wait for Norway’s MGP but definitely I won’t be supporting the scandinavians this year…. ESC 2015 back to the sovietic floor or finally to Romania…
Best song of the competition so far!! I don’t see anybody out there right now beating him. He’s a Danish Bruno Mars.
Dhani i guess that you like Romania’s entry Miracle now :)))
Mediocre. Didn’t think he’d make the superfinal let alone win. Sweden, Iceland, Finland, and now Denmark all messed up so unless Norway picks an amazing song (“High Hopes” or “Sole Survivor”) I think we’ll be definitely away from Scandinavia again for 2015.
Awful choice, The Nordic countries would flop this year, Iceland, Sweden and Denmark songs are not that good
really good song, basim was clearly the best on the night. good luck this year.
CRAP!!!!!!!! WHAT A HORRIBLE NIGHT!!!!!!!! ALL NORDIC COUNTRIES WILL FAIL BIG THIS YEAR!!!!!!!! SWEDEN CHOSE A REALLY BAD SONG AND DENMARK CHOSE THIS CRAP FUCKING TRASH!!!!!! IAM SO UPSET RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!
