Conchita Wurst, winner of Eurovision 2014 and Austria’s Queen of Tolerance, has filmed a video for Es Wird Besser, the Austrian branch of the It Gets Better campaign, which works to tackle suicide among LGBT youth.

In the 20-second clip Conchita reminds youth—indeed, anyone struggling to be accepted—that loving yourself is the first step to freedom and fulfillment.

There may be people who won’t accept you. There may be even people who won’t accept you in your inner family, but you know what? The most important thing is that you accept yourself. And if so I can promise you it gets better.

You can watch Conchita’s inspirational video below.

That’s good that Conchita spred her message out. Unfortanetely Eurovision is about music and think Conchita Wurst character has done her work now (this we see in the comments fields) now it is a new ESC season and we will interest in the new artists and songs

I’ve been through both phases: rejection (especially within my family, way more than out there, believe it or not) and how it “gets better” as you accept yourself as a person with full rights and deserving to be treated as such. It is extremely important to minimise the damage and the violence, attacks from others as well as our own violent reactions. Civilised behaviour is the key to a mutual understanding of our human reality (the fact that we are gay, great deal, and the fact that some people have difficulty in dealing with other people’s sexuality).
