Not long ago Severina treated us to her summer hit Uno Momento, which sparked a few controversies across the former Yugoslavia. Now the Croatian representative at Eurovision 2006 is back — and she’s wiser, more emotional and less mischievous. In a new attempt to conquer the Balkan region (and the rest of the world), she has teamed up with friend Sasa Matic – a folk singer who, along with his twin brother, was born blind. Talk of the collaboration divided opinion because of the apparent disconnect in their musical styles.

But the result—the single “More Tuge” (Sea of Sadness)—has removed any doubt that this collab was a fleeting fancy. Severina brings delicacy, while Sasa brings melancholy. The song talks about two lovers who long for each other—and the emotions are all over the place!

They’ll premiere their collaboration live at a charity concert at the Vatroslav Lisinki venue, which is known to you Eurovisionistas as the Eurovision 199o host venue.

More Tuge/Sea of sadness lyrics

Like a dandelion in a gust of wind, a heart has shattered
And how it beat crazily after you
A pain as deep as an abyss now crumbles me
Instead of you, tonight it embraces me
How I long for you, to touch my lips
To chase away this pain in my chest
REF.
I can no longer go further without you
Living in this sea of sadness, breathing alongside another
If only I could hear your voice
Within it to find hope, to find salvation
I thought that I could start on a new path
That for love there is still time
How much one can mean to a person, like you do to me
The heart realizes when you lose it
How I long for you, to touch my lips
To chase away this pain in my chest
REF.
I can no longer go further without you
Living on the earth alone like a leaf in the wind
If only I could hear your voice
Within it to find hope, to find salvation
I can no longer go further without you
Living in this sea of sadness, while you sleep alongside another
If only I could hear your voice
Within it to find hope, to find salvation
