While serving as a jury member on X Factor Turkey, Eurovision 2011 winner Nigar Jamal proved she isn’t afraid to speak the truth. Judging from her new single “Yalan” (Lie), she isn’t happy when men can’t do the same.
The video takes place far away from the city, in the hills and mountains of Azerbaijan (continuing the trend of singing love songs in nature, as in Farid’s Adima Layiq). Nigar stands on top of a hill and belts it out while her lover tries to find her. “Yalan / Senin butun sozlerinde / Sevgi dolu gozlerinde…” That means: “Lie / In all your words/ In your eyes full of love…”. Looks like she believed her lover once but doesn’t want to believe him again because of a heart-breaking betrayal.
I love this song! Can’t stop listening to it. I love the magical sound of Balaban. I also like the music video. Well done Nikki.
But, there is something I need to add. Actually the line is Yalan / Senin butun sozlerin de / Sevgi dolu gozlerin de… I mean there is a space before “de”s. And it changes the whole meaning. So the translation is “It’s all a lie, including all of your promises, your eyes full of love”. Azeri language is very flexible.
Nice song though
Oh, she still exists.
totally average singer .. one half of one of the worst eurovision winners ever
