The loved-up Lithuanian duo Monika Linkyte and Vaidas Baulima are spreading the love even further with new versions of their song “This Time” in both French and Lithuanian. And they’ve also showed their versatility as performers by releasing a gentle acoustic version of the song.
Bojana Stamenov may be the ruling queen of releasing different versions of her Eurovision song (six and counting!) but Monika and Vaidas are happy to show off their bilingual skills with versions of “This Time” in both French and their mother tongue of Lithuanian.
The new lyrics are different from the English translation. The French version has no kissy “un bisou!” moment, but it’s there in the Lithuanian version. Monika and Vaidas obviously know better than to teach the French about kissing.
The acoustic version slows the original English song down to a leisurely 3:30 and has the duo accompanied by just a piano and an acoustic guitar. This stripped back version highlights the strength of Monika and Vaidas’ voices, especially with blending and harmonising. But with all these different versions, let’s hope they remember the right words in Vienna.
