Viktor Király is quickly turning his 15 minutes into a few hours. The Hungarian-American singer has consistently wowed judges and his various mentors, including Rihanna, and he did so again last night during his knockout round against Jordan Smith. Ahead of his performance Rihanna told Kiraly that he should sing “If I Ain’t Got You” straight and full: he doesn’t need flourishes with a voice as good as his! And while he earned a standing ovation, judge Adam Levine ultimately named Smith the winner. No matter: Gwen Stefani thought Viktor was totes amaze and stole him for her team.

Born to Hungarian parents but raised in New York, Viktor moved to Hungary when he was 16. He’s experienced commercial success there and has come close to winning A Dal, Hungary’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. According to his official bio on The Voice web site, he hopes the show will launch his career stateside.

Are you loving his performance?
