When we first saw Serbia‘s Lena Stamenkovic we were super hyped — and she did not dissapoint. She kept the good thing going during her second rehearsal and she made it rain red. This song screams darkness, but her youth and optimism keep it somehow light and inviting. The vocal gymnastics is a bonus. It remains divisive in the press centre but we expect her to smash it on the night. This has “jury friendly” written all over it.

Serbia’s second rehearsal at Junior Eurovision 2015

THIS IS WHAT WE THOUGHT OF HER FIRST REHEARSAL

She’s already the most viewed Junior Eurovision 2015 star on YouTube, so Serbia’s Lena Stamenkovic had a lot to live up to during her first rehearsal. And boy did she impress! Her staging fits in nicely with the themes of suffering and hope in her song “Lenina Pesma”.

As the song opens, we’re greeted to a desolate backdrop of grey skies, snow and barren trees (yes, yes, more Eurovision trees). But as Lena picks up pace, it explodes into a collection of “shining” red diamonds before these too transform into a skyscape of glittering lights. Lena looks stunning in a red gown, which matches her staging perfectly. Vocally, the girl was flawless. Some had questioned her ability to reach those high notes, they needn’t have worried. All in all, it feels very Polina Gagarina, but with considerable more sass. And remember how well she did!

We’re back from the short break, continuing with the second rehearsal of Emilija Djonin from Serbia, and her song “Svet u mojim ocima”.

Very incoherent entry + bad starting position. It might even be the last place.

Needs more colors and pretty things like flowers to fit the song correctly. If the song has a line about a thousand different colors (in Serbian), they should have had a more colorful background. I think she could have had a more colorful dress or peel off a monochrome layer to reveal something more colorful and bright. It also could have used more choreography of her walking/moving to different parts of the stage and doing some dance touches.
Serbia did plain staging for Emilija Djonin last year and it didn’t place well, besides being a pretty, well-sung song.
