La noche es para tu vagina: Soraya gives world’s first ever foetus concert using “musical tampons”

In December, France’s Eurovision 1997 representative Fanny Biascamano released a comeback album entitled Fanny chante Brassens. As if things weren’t already fishy enough, Moldova then revealed its list of 47 Eurovision hopefuls — including a song by DoReDos named “FannyFolk” (which they have now sensibly changed to “FunnyFolk”). Despite all that, nothing could have prepared us for the latest instance of Eurovision meets vagina.

Soraya Arnelas finished 24th at Eurovision 2009 with her song “La Noche Es Para Mí”, but that only left a small gash in her career. Spain’s favourite short-haired shimmier recently teamed up with the Barcelona-based Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic Institut Marquès for something that is, quite cliterally, incredible. This December she performed a special Christmas concert for a group of pregnant women – but there’s one small twist. She was singing into their vaginas.

Using a revolutionary new invention, the BabyPod, mothers-to-be are able to play music to their unborn children via a ‘musical tampon’. You simply insert, plug in your Smartphone, and then la noche es para ti. Studies have found that a foetus can hear from as early as 18 weeks, and scientists have discovered multiple health benefits for babies listening to music whilst still in the womb. Clearly this idea tickled Soraya’s fancy (and also her fanny) and she now claims the title for holding the first ever concert for foetuses.

Soraya was enthralled with the experience, saying “I’ve never been performing for such a young audience so for me, it’s a very special show.” The singer also explained that “I’m coming as an artist, but I’m coming also on behalf of a future mummy – because one day I would like to have a baby too”.
