It’s seven days since Malta became the last country in semi-final one to reveal its entry for Eurovision 2016. Shortly after Ira Losco #WOWed us, we launched our poll and asked y’all who should win the first semi-final of Eurovision 2016. The past week has seen a voting frenzy with a massive 30,783 votes cast as of midday 24 March. Who are your current favourites?
Comeback kids Croatia lead the pack. In the past they’ve been one of the weaker Balkan nations, but Nina Kraljic looks set to buck that trend. “Lighthouse” has amassed 3,614 votes so far or 11.74% of all votes cast.

“Chameleon” is dead. Long live “Walk On Water”. After weeks of languishing in our early polls, Malta’s Ira Losco is back in the game. The Eurovision 2002 runner-up storms to second place with 3,491 votes or 11.34% of all votes cast.

In third we have the bookies’ favourite — Russia’s Sergey Lazarev. But clearly they aren’t the only ones getting excited. “You Are The Only One” has collected 3,320 votes or 10.79% of all votes cast.

Perennial poll-toppers Armenia occupy fourth spot. Iveta Mukuchyan and “LoveWave” have 2,951 votes or 9.59% of all votes cast.

Bosnia & Herzegovina round out the top five. Dalal & Deen feat. Ana Rucner and Jala enjoy plenty of online support, having topped two of our previous polls. Their popularity remains with 2,687 votes going the way of “Ljubav Je”.

Guys, you just hate Sergey ’cause his russian but the truth is he’s very good vocalist with a strong voice and also he’s an incredible performer. His very first live from Kursk is still more impressive than almost every other live performances. And male vocalists this year is weak. Maybe Hovi Star is good. He has a beautiful voice. And talking about females. I think Croatia & Australia are really strong. Do not like Croatia’s song. Too flat for me. But she sings good live and can create atmosphere. Malta not so sure. Anyway we’ll find out soon) Good luck… Read more »
This is a message for LOLA. I think that if Malta wins this contest it will be a big pain for most if the countries including yours LOLA dear. Many countries cannot bare to see Malta ever winning this Contest however unfortunately for you LOLA Malta won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest twice in 3 years and again UNFORTUNATELY for all the other countries that think the same as you LOLA .. EBU was so impressed with the quality of the festival that they hired Maltese to build the stage in Bulgaria and also to co direct the broadcast. So… Read more »
Russian song is outdated and overrated. I find Armenian song terrible.
How mutch money has Russia pay for 3,in odds. Sweden 2017
Im sure Croatia and Malta won’t win.Russia have great chance to win.All former Soviet countries will give 12 points like in 2008.
Armenia will do very well.I hope Iva will take the trophy. ..???
so far, my qualifiers in this semi are Cyprus, Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, Russia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Iceland, Czech Rep, and (yeah), Montenegro. I love their entries.
But I thought in May the qualifiers are, Russia, Croatia, Cyprus, Hungary, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iceland, Austria, Estonia, and Malta.
Malta is soooo overrated, will make it to the final but will definitely not win. So keep dreaming
For me the best song is Walk on water ,Ira Losco
She has such beutiful voice and Ira has all she needs to win and get the eurovision to Malta she has expirience also because this is the second time she is rapresenting Malta in the Eurovision
FORZA MALTA EJJA HA TIRBAH IRA!!!!!!!!!! MALTA KOLLHA WARAJK!!!!!!!!!!
Positives: This semi final is stronger than the second semi. Even entries which have inaudible lyrics in the video could do much better on stage than we’re expecting (like Armenia). Negatives: Some good entries may not qualify, just because they don’t stand out enough. This poll has Czech Republic in 11th, which is very worrying because it’s their best ever entry!! Honestly Croatia’s song is okay – it’s not really my cup of tea but i can see why it’s popular. From a technical songwriting perspective, Russia wins this semi by a long way. Azerbaijan has some good musical content… Read more »
@Vlad: Being the biggest does not make him the best …
@Hex:
”Highly more likely that Estonia, Netherlands or Czech Republic will make the finals.”
I would be so happy for all 3 🙂
croatia will win it all
i’m sure
Despite the fans views, I highly doubt that Austria will be making the finals. The semi is just too tough. I also don’t get the hype around Bosnia’s song.. It just sounds so dated and boring.
Highly more likely that Estonia, Netherlands or Czech Republic will make the finals.
Croatia is so overrated! GO CYPRUS!!!!!!!!!!
Estonia has an amazing song as well!!!!
This poll is a real joke! Russia won’t win this year anyway!
Russia has WINNER written all over it. 🙂
lol bosnia couldn’t get top 3 even when spamming votes.
Lazarev its not a good singer. And his somg is…ok. Russia its not gonna win this year. Thank God
Lets go Croatiaaa !!!!!
We are winners, vote for us !
Pity how low are Eurovision fans standarts. Maybe that’s why Eurovision will never become a quality music show. Estonia is clearly one of the best ones this year.
All Maltese are so proud of our top artist… Ira Losco will surprise many out there with her live performance, she’s the best by far 🙂 Go go go Malta
Russia’s song is the winner, you hear it once it’s very catchy. It is the song of this year!
And Russia shouldn’t even qualify, the song sounds like songs sounded in 2005-2010 Eurovision, which is awful and unaesthetic.
Russia & Australia all the way. Armenian singer most beautiful of the whole lot
Pioneer is the best in semi 1
My qualifiers from this semi-final (which is definitely the stronger of the two)
1. Russia – One of the best tunes – my guilty pleasure.
2. Armenia – Absolutely creative, different, avangart.
3. Croatia – Reminds of me Emilie’s 2013 entry.
4. Czech Republic – So underrated. This is a great song. This could do really well.
5. Estonia – I may love this entry for different reasons 😉
6. Malta – Great song.
7. Azerbaijan – Swedish produced bubble-gum pop. Need I say more?
8. Hungary
9. Cyprus
10. Iceland
Go Malta <3 Go Croatia <3
1.Croatia
2.Montenegro
3.Georgia
4.Belarus
5.San Marino
Sergey is the biggest singer in russia. So he must win
@WTF: I still believe he will rip his shirt off to show his naked torso and prevent fans from booing and start screaming for joy in a very orgasmic way … and to make them forget how average his song is. Like I said … Russia is desperate and there are no boundaries for such desperation … I do hope as much as you do that Sergey will not win and go backstage angry willing to break some chairs and everything in his path due to his loss …
As I already said Russia Sergey is male version of Helena Paparizou with recycled song.
Malta Ira Losca walking on water we will see her on eurovision stage wa wa wa wa wa walk on water lol
Croatia mix of Irish music exaggerated some kind of bliss….borring as hell
Thanks to Ukraine for being real and telling as whats going on in the real world sending message in musical loving way, best of luck
@Charles: As far as I’m concerned, Sergey can top any poll the deluded eurofans want him to, as long as his crappy song doesn’t top the actual scoreboard come May…
Why are you people voting for Armenia? LoveWave is terrible.
LOL! I guess Maltese fans gone mad or sth, I love “Walk on water” myself, but come on, there were no so many “Lighthouse” haters before, it’s obvious those people are Maltese who voted for Malta… Not good.
My prediction for the first semi-final http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hkf6q9KvdxY
Estonia will definitely pass, Bosnia almost certainly will not. And I am not that sure about Malta passing either.
This semifinal is plenty of good songs… Probably some of them win’t qualify and it’ll be a shame
SERBIA IS THE BEST! Zero points to Croatia!! Homophobes Hrvatska
As far as Malta and Croatia no big deal … but I still ask who the hell is being paid loads and loads of money to make Sergey the top artist, country and song on these reckless polls? Russia’s desperation knows no boundaries …
Czech Republic will be always underrated in such pools.. The think is that there is not big fan base of ESC… It is because Czech entry has never been in final so people have never had chance to experience that arousal and excitement during voting etc.. Thats why there are no many fans voting for it even if the song is good.
By the way Nina is my favorite too! I love her song. It’s sooo majestic! I never get bored of it. Close second is Bulgaria and Czech rep. c:
I have heard croatians song 1000 times. Its do booooooring
Rock Me, Ivona, Zagreb 2017 are Croatians who are one Croatians who share this poll on forums, Croatian youtube song video, and fb pages telling people to vote only for Croatians song
Croatian song is boring, and I can tell that Australia, France, Russia, Spain, Germany will be better placed in Final than Croatian song
Stop RIGGING the poll Croatians! We all know what you do!
Malta has a great song! I’m pretty sure it won’t win though. For me it’s Sweden, France or the Netherlands 🙂
These would be the perfect scores if Bosnia would be replaced with Czech republic! I love that song ;-; Sending love from UK <3
Please stop writing only about Ira Losco… She is very overrated. Maltese are too active in voting here and Ira’s fans are spaming links to these pools on Ira’s FB and Malta ESC FB pages… Inform also about other countries and interprets..
Replace Bosnia with Estonia or Netherlands and I would be happy with that top 10. Definitely the stronger of the two semi’s. I have eight songs I like here but in SF2, there is only 3/4 I really like
Malta, without a doubt.
I think Ira is a little overrated.
Check my top so you can see where I place her.

I’m sorry but these polls are are the result of contestants like Bosnia and Herzegovina sharing them to their pages and telling people to vote
Best song in first semi final and final is song from Croatia.Nina you are the best.
Welcome to Zagreb 2017.
