This Sunday most of the 42 delegations are arriving at Arlanda Airport in Stockholm, with plenty of media and fans set to follow in the coming days. Host broadcaster SVT has released a video to welcome all to Stockholm and Eurovision 2016.
Christer Björkman told Eurovision.tv, “The film embodies the concept that SVT have developed for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest and the core values that our event stands for. Our slogan is Come Together and I am absolutely delighted to invite all of Europe with a film that includes and welcomes all.”
Set to an instrumental version of “Heroes”, the video features people from all walks of life, all heading to Eurovision. Welcoming words flash on screen, with an open and inclusive spirit.
The message in the movie – welcoming us all
Welcome people, welcome heroes
Welcome celebrities, welcome zeros
Welcome courage, welcome fear
Welcome laugh, welcome tear
Welcome mellow, welcome joy
Welcome girl, welcome boy
Welcome humble, welcome vain
Welcome Estonia, welcome Spain
Welcome hetero, welcome gay
Welcome to leave, welcome to stay
Everyone – welcome!

Let us all come together and hate Sweden for…lets say…EVERYTHING they do EVERY single year and then we really feel that we are united and proud of ourselves
Seriously? It is painful to watch. How is hetero ok, but homo insulting? Welcome boy, welcome girl? Again, seriously? Trying too hard in my opinion and totally unnecessary.
By the way , more images from Barcelona than Stockholm. Thanks a lot! ??

@Pollaski 2: Electric Boogaloo – thank you, you mad my day! Hahahha
@gal: No it wasn’t you, don’t worry. 🙂
Of course stating the truth is not a crime. However, personally attacking another specific member of this blog on multiple occasions across multiple message boards IS a crime. Most of you are not at fault, and need not worry. Those few that are at fault have been noted.
@David Who
Ho really? saying the truth is a crime?? if you spoke about me so read the comments of logic towerd me, and maybe wiwiblogs should block him for commenting here
Please, can there be no personal attacks or harrassment on this blog. (Those are crimes in most countries.) Stop it now. Thank you.
I think they missed a few.
Welcome the popular, welcome the lonely
Welcome San Marino (for the semifinal only)
Welcome the crop, welcome the cream
Welcome to Russias audio-visual team
Welcome the polite, welcome the rude
Welcome all broadcasters who arent financially screwed.
@Nicky91
Good Luck to and Malta and isarel 🙂
@OR
i’ve just been watching that interview, they are really good friends, and Hovi is so funny and Ira has been making a lot of friends with the other countries, Samra and Iveta, she also said on instagram she can’t wait to be in Stockholm to see Iveta and Hovi again 🙂
@Nicky91
I agree with u ira has a great current song and beautiful voice, but i like her Personality even more after she STAND BY hovi with the homophobic insult …
did u watch this intrview with hovi and ira?
https://www.facebook.com/EurovisionSongMalta/videos/1075933579130911/
ira is great singer and a great person and so is hovi … thats why they are such a good friends 🙂
I don’t feel welcomed anymore, neither anyone of my nation. sorry. RussiaVision. it’s what our vice PM called this event. definitely we’ll pretend that we’re so excited to represent our country in the contest, but it’s just an obligation to finish what we started and to let our Crimean Tatar star to shine no matter what. after that, we’re not considering Russiavision as something we’d like to be accosiated with. putting us in one line with ISIS and banning a NATIONAL flag of Crimean Tatars (blue flag with tamga – it’s the flag of their nation, not a political tool,… Read more »
@OR
i’ll tell you all why i like Malta’s song, because Ira doesn’t overscream herself and she sounds really beautiful and the gospel sound towards the end lifts the song, and Molly isn’t gonna oversing Ira, they are a team Ira and the 4 backing singers and Skorpion, so basically the act is one whole team performance 🙂
@Nicky91 thanks 🙂 good luck to the nice and charming song from Malta as well 🙂
@OR
i’m sorry how could i ever forget him
Hovi is a great singer, with a nice charming ballad 🙂
@Nicky91
And for Israel of course 🙂
HOVI STAR IS THE REAL STAR!!:)
@Robyn Gallagher
also make sure to cheer for Netherlands, Malta and Croatia and Czech Republic 🙂
@logic
i’m just telling the truth and answering to antisemitic, anti Israel people.+ i wasn’t ask for your opinion!!!! so go and try be “logic” somewhere else…………………………….
They probably included the line “welcome estonia, welcome spain” because those two countries are like the “limits” of Europe, one on the West Europe and the other one on the East part… they could have said that in a clearer way though
They must cut this welcome Estonia, welcome Spain from video. It is not fair to other 40 countries at contest.
Again, EBU forcing politics in the Eurovision.
Fail.
Welcome Estonia, welcome Spain
Welcome Frsnce? Welcome Russia? Nay?
dreadful video, a bit disappointing
anyway i wish everyone on wiwibloggs good luck with this year’s eurovision song contest and also enjoy it 🙂
best of luck to all countries
Nick, “Come together, except if you are Romanian”
@Ben Rafter I’m so sick and tired of all you people whining about Kosovians not allowed to bring their flag. The Eurovision song contest is a massive undertaking, during which EVERYTHING must go smoothly. I you were the organiser, would you want to prevent eventual conflicts and fights about political views from happening or not? Kosovian are welcome. Everybody is welcome, as an audience member. It’s an inclusive group. However, you can’t come with some flags, as those countries are not recognised by some others, which DEFINITELY WOULD start a conflict. That’s not the point of ESC. So just shut… Read more »
Once again, please don’t make Sweden win in the next 10-20 years!
Dreadful video, so random.

@David Who yes your 100% right, it should be welcome Straight, or else welcome homo. I think SVT are trying to be really modern and cool with their poetry in English, but it just didn’t work out for them, unless of course, they are being ironic and there is a whole “relaxed and non-serious” tone to the contest.
In this page are the videos of Barei’s first Spanish Europarty. He sang J’ai cherche, Heroes, Say Yay and Campanera. The winner of this year!!

Shouldn’t it be “Welcome straight” rather than “welcome hetero?” Otherwise the second half would have been “welcome homo” – haha. Lots of fun can be had with this, but in retrospect it’s in poor taste – the last thing you want to do is HIGHLIGHT the divisions in society. Not the way to make us “come together” at all. No, no, no. This video might have to be pulled. We shall see. The bad poetry is still funny though.
P.S. In the video, during the “vain” part… are dogs allowed at the ESC now?
“Welcome hetero, Welcome gay” – something kind of off putting about that …decent video but they really need to focus on Stockholm a bit more, it’s a beautiful host city and maybe a splash of Swedish culture too.
I was once told that songs were what happened when bad poems were sold to make money. Well…
Zeros?! Oh dear! Welcome to leave are we? 😀 haha. Nice try though.
Welcome refugees…oh well, only to Turkey maybe!
Another mishearing, of “Color of your life”
Real lyrics:
Everyday, we must fight with the wind
What I heard:
Everyday, we and Spike will get our wings
Are they singing about hot wings? Or are they birds/angels?
Bonsoir Stockholm,
@Oh, Come on!
As far as I can guess, welcome Spain was to make a rime with welcome vain. Estonia is just a random country to fill the line, it could have been any other country such as Australia, Austria, Azerbaidjan, Romania… ooups.
Can we emigrate to Sweden ? Or it is just for Eurovision ? Last sentences are ambiguous…
Bises,
Maxime
What a surprise. They have not forgotten putting refudgees there.., I am really annoyed by this topic from news… They should keep it away from ESC…
Those who had the Under 5 posts until a Romania reference, please cash in your tickets before close of business today.
Welcome all (except for Romania).
And what is the point of Welcome Estonia, Welcome Spain? I cant get it…. maybe I am missing some piece of information.
