He may be known to viewers as the co-presenter giving out facts from his laptop on Pointless, but the BBC has announced Richard Osman as this year’s results spokesperson for the United Kingdom. He joins Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Hungary, San Marino and the Czech Republic among the list of confirmed spokespersons for Eurovision 2016.

He follows in the footsteps of celebrity chef Nigella Lawson, who was the country’s results spokesperson last year. Whilst Nigella read out the combined jury-televoting results, Richard will only be reading out the jury results under the new voting process.

On a different topic, what’s happened to the pop up BBC radio station for Eurovision this year? I take it that listener figures were even lower than the Greatest Hits which was broadcast last year on BBC1?

I was so hoping it would be Nigella again. She was the highlight of last year’s contest.

Looking forward to his Swedish and French, although it’s sad Xander won’t be with him.
