He’s known as the Conchita Wurst of Poland and routinely turns heads on the streets of Warsaw with his daring looks and avant-garde edge.

And on Sunday Poland’s Michal Szpak did it again on the Eurovision 2016 red carpet, rocking a bright blue jacket, red pants and white shirt, with his amazing locks flowing down his back.

Michal was playful as ever, joking that Marilyn Manson is his style icon.

Some people — aka, wiwiblogger Padraig — have said Michal borrowed his hair from Jesus and his beard from Conchita, but he says he is rocking his own unique look….though he is willing to admit he’s as beautiful as the bearded lady. Despite his blue-and-red ensemble, he denies that he drew inspiration from ManuElla’s Eurovision 2016 song.

Before ducking into the obligatory selfie with Team Wiwi, Michal shared a simple message: “All the best from Poland. Vote for Poland!”

The best and the most POWERFUL vocals this year. Wonderful emotional personality. His song stands out of the rest – a little bit dated but in a good way like the ballads of the good old 80’s-90’s. 🙂 Stop calling him Conchita because he is not gay or drag queen. He just has long (beautiful BTW) hair and black-painted nails like many other male artists. His looks are so far from Conchita’s. Michal is a mixture of Steven Tyler, Jack Sparrow, musketeer and Disney prince. 🙂 And I hope this beautiful mixture will win people’s hearts tonight with his even… Read more »

I still believe he can win it all tonight. I mean, his charm, his song which is an anthem about life, his voice, his style…he won’t go unnoticed, that’s for sure. Jamala and he are the only ones for me who can transmit the message and emotions of their songs through their performance. 12 points from Spain, I hope Europe values the artists and the depth of some songs and not only the visual effects <3333

I think that Mr. Szpack is after Mr. Lazarev the most sucessiful singer to have an international carrer after this contest. He has charism and personality to conquer fans around the whole Europe. And, of course, he has an excellent vocal and stage presence.
Best singers ready to international career:
Sergey Lazarev
Michal Szpack
Donny Montell
Sanja Zaa
Poli Genova

I’m sitting here on Saturday morning with a large Starbuck hot chocolate catching up on all the wiwibloggs videos I missed during the week. They are such fun and interesting, if only the BBC coverage was half as good. The perfect way to start Eurovision final day.
