And that’s why we love youuuuu, oh, oh! Radio Televizioni Shqiptar (RTSH) — Albania’s national broadcaster — has confirmed to wiwibloggs that Albania will participate in Eurovision 2017 in Kyiv. Despite missing out on the Eurovision grand final in 2016, the Land of Eagles is ready to soar once more.

And to choose the contestant who can do that they’ll once again call on the long-running traditional song contest, Festivali i Këngës (FiK), which turns 55 this year.

The contest is scheduled for December at the Pallati i Kongreseve in Tirana. RTSH will accept submissions on October 10 and 11. Yes, on those two specific days.

Last year, Eneda Tarifa represented Albania with Fairytale. Unfortunately, Eneda failed to qualify for the grand final and placed 16th with 45 points.

But she became a favourite of the wiwibloggs team owing to her strong vocals, fierce beauty and one-of-a-kind personality. We’re hoping that she plays a big role in FiK this year, perhaps dropping some of her renowned humour on air.

Following Eurovision, Eneda released a sizzling summer re-mix of her song and we’re gagging to hear it live!

In any case, which artist would like to see singing for Albania in Kyiv? Stay tuned for our Albanian wishlist, which is coming soon.

i always love the ott dramatic FiK ballads until they take all the passion out of them and plop them, with bad english and worse staging, into the semifinals
like most of them are beautiful in Albanian (even Ne Jete,) why change?

I think they need a new selection process. Albania (along with Kosovo and their diaspora) is clearly capable of exporting artists with global appeal. Think of Dua Lipa, Era Istrefi, Bebe Rexha, Rita Ora… they need to go for an internal selection, they have everything it takes to do amazingly.

@Mei International. Aye. But I thought the songs of 2014 and 2016 were excellent in their original form, before they rewrote them in English and reworked the music. It took the ferocity out of those songs, and made non-qualifiers out of them.

Am I mistaken, or wasn’t there supposed to be a showdown between the winners of Festivali i Këngës and Kënga Magjike?

Aslajdon Zaimaj should have won last year with ‘Merrmë që sot’

prediction: they will take a mediocre song in albanian, translate it to english, it will be horrible (2005…2007…2011…2014…2016). i mean it’s a pattern.

I beg them not to change the song. Both “Perralle” and “Diell” were absolutely stunning imo.

So happy! 😀 …but I’m hoping one time we(I’m italian-albanian)will do internal selection. There are a lot of good(and bad..)artists who don’t partecipate in FiK like Elvana Gjata with Njësoj(however it is in gërg dialect. I know it because in my hometown, Elbasan we speak the tosk dialect and we say isoj or sometimes njisoj, and I don’t like a lot gërg because of it german-like sound with a lot of ë), but I think they will partecipate with internal selection. I just hope FiK will be won by someone known and with modern songs, but from what I know… Read more »

Off topic, but does anyone know about Moldova in 2017?
3 points why they might withdraw:
1. They didn’t reach the final in 3 years
2. The financial side could be a problem for them
3. After what happened to Romania last year, I just don’t know about Moldova
However, Ukraine is hosting, so that makes it more possible for them to participate

Albania is a great country at Eurovision, I usually like their entries very much. “I’m Alive” is their best song, it’s just amazing but I also love “Suus”, “Feel The Passion” and “It’s All About You”. “Carry Me In Your Dreams” and “A Night’s Anger” are very good too.

As long as they don’t “improve” their song it’s ok.
