It’s January 30 and we know now five acts and what song they’ll be performing at Eurovision 2017. They come from Albania, Belarus, Finland, Georgia and the United Kingdom. It’s only going to get more crowded at the top as more counties announce, but for now, we want to know: who is your current favourite Eurovision 2017 act?
In our last poll, Georgia’s Tako Gacheciladze edged out Belarus’ NAVI to top spot. The “Keep the Faith” singer polled 1,527 votes, around 40% of the total cast. Is that enough to install her as an early favourite for the contest?
The fourth act confirmed came on Friday night from the United Kingdom — or, specifically, from Wales. Lucie Jones was victorious at Eurovision: You Decide with her song “Never Give Up On You”. Lucie might not have troubled the top in our UK poll results, but her live performance certainly has won plaudits.
Lucie’s team will no doubt be busy preparing her for Eurovision. With Emmelie de Forest on the writing team, there’s certainly experience there. Will she fare better against her ESC contemporaries in this poll?
Finland also chose their act this weekend in the final of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu. As fan favourites Emma and Alva faltered, it was duo Norma John who powered to victory. Their haunting “Blackbird” proved to be much better suited to the stage than the studio, easily stealing the show.
Both the public and international juries agreed on their victory. This has to be seen as a good sign for their chances at Eurovision itself.
You can listen to all five artists songs below before you vote in our poll. Just remember: you can vote for as many songs as you like. You can only vote ONCE though, so make sure that vote counts!
Poll: Who is your favourite Eurovision 2017 act so far?
- Albania: Lindita, “Botë” (World)
- Belarus: NAVI, “Historyja majho zyccia”
- Finland: Norma John, “Blackbird”
- Georgia: Tako Gachechiladze, “Keep The Faith”
- United Kingdom: Lucie Jones, “Never Give Up On You”
We’ll close the poll shortly before this weekend’s selection shows. We’ll find out which of six acts will go on to represent Switzerland in Kyiv, amongst other heats. Make sure to let us know who you voted for in the comments section!

I share Colin’s suspicion. How did Georgia suddenly get a massive amount of votes in the Wiwi poll all at once? Is it really that big a deal that someone would hack the poll? 😀
Before UMK I didn’t have a clear favourite. But now, Finland is my top song among the five!!

Well bogus Georgia votes will not matter once the Polish/Irish entries are revealed 😐
This poll is rigged!
I find Georgia the best song so far, I think it’s not just about an inflation from the Caucasian countries. Finland, UK and Albania are pretty tied in my preferences, they are same music style, I can’t say I prefer one more than other, they are all good songs, but not sth that would impress me very much. While Belarus has a pretty banal song, the only so far I am pretty sure will not make the final. I also don’t like it personally.
Georgia just got over 50 votes in less than an hour. Not saying it’s suspicious, but it’s suspicious. Georgian song is really good, they don’t need inflation… I just wait for DiHaj and Artsvik to announce their songs, so they could get tons of sudden votes too. Why are people SO competitive when voting for Caucausus countries? It’s not like Wiwibloggs score can help anyone in the actual contest. Not even the jury score, which is genuine, let alone the inflated one from the poll.

All very decent but I am gonna go with Finland and The UK as my top 2.

I really like the UK girl, she is so pretty and her voice very special and emotional. Just wishing for more every time from the song, go more, go more some place. You have to listen two times to get that bit more you want.
Also really like Blackbird, very different and soulful. And the dress!
Straight from my Tumblr! 🙂 1) Belarus: I’m honestly surprised something like this has emerged successfully from a national final! If they can get some fun (but not overwhelming) staging, I can totally see this being Belarus’ best result ever. 2) Finland: I wasn’t expecting much when I heard the studio version, but the live blew me away. I’m giving Finland the edge because Norma John’s instrumentation has more texture and the vocals are just as compelling compared to The UK’s current bid. 3) The UK: like Finland, I wasn’t expecting much until I heard Lucie live. She brought the… Read more »

Right now, Belarus remains my winner with Finland comes second. Of course, as more songs come out, they’ll challenge those top rankings.
Yes, I do think part of Belarus’ charm is that they’re very different, in their native language and so upbeat; in a sea of ballads they shine.
I only like Belarus really, would not listen to the rest even twice.
While I appreciate Finland’s vocals, I find the song and performance creepy and haunting. Happened to remind me of the Lightbox, an art museum in Woking. They display (for some creepy and bizarre reason) pieces of haute couture clothes that was worn in early 20th century to funerals. Yep, black feathers, black bird jewerly and the rest. A creepy appropriation of a tragic and deeply personal event.
UK is my favourite so far. Incredible performance of Lucie.
UK is growing on me.

Georgia just doesn’t speak to me.
Belarus still the standout (bonus marks for being in native language) among some boring, flat, uninspiring, typical ballads. Let’s see what this month brings, but my fav still hasn’t changed. Not a fan of Finland’s song, despite her good voice–feels like a funeral song! Travesty about Emma.
@Alex How will finland be a dark horse if everyone is already expecting them to do well… Some of you should really learn the definitions of words before using them. :/

2. Finland
Finland will be a dark horse.
I’m surprising even myself, but the UK entry is my fave so far.
1. Belarus
2. United Kingdom

43. Georgia
If Emma had won in Finland then they would be my favourite, however I like Blackbird as well as all the other songs so so far so good. Belarus is my favourite at t his point
I won’t even count Albania because we all know the final version of the song will sound nothing like Botë. For now my ranking is: 1. Belarus – exactly what I wanted. A song representing the culture of its country, in its national language, and with an uplifting rhythm! Truly what the contest should be about. 9/10 2. Finland – it takes a while to get used to this song, but it’s really a good one. Extremely well-written lyrics, which is rare for the Eurovision, and a great voice. 7/10 3. Georgia – typical peace song, but definitely enjoyable thanks… Read more »

5. Albania – Not memorable at all, all I could hear was shouting most of the time. I hope they will revamp it really good so maybe Albania will be in the final… 4. Belarus – Mother language and the fact that it is the only happy song for now keeps it from the bottom. It just screams JESC for me… The vocals are… Meh… And they are a little bit annoying in the “Hey hey” part. For me… A not-qualifier… 3. Finland – I was rooting for 4 people in UMK. Respectively: Emma, Zühlke, Lauri, Norma John… Yep… Norma… Read more »
