Earlier this week the Netherlands honoured its best at the annual television awards, the Gouden Televizier-Ring Gala (Gold Television Ring Gala). And one of the highlights was a special appearance by OG3NE, who debuted their upcoming single “But I Do” with a slick live performance.
OG3NE endured a sad period after their Eurovision experience. Isolde, mother to the sisters Lisa, Amy and Shelley, passed away in July. The trio decided to take a break and mourn their loss.
But from late August the ladies got back in the saddle. In September they teased upcoming music and we can finally see what the fuss is all about.
The Vol sisters took to the gala stage looking glamorous in metallics and rocking dramatic hairstyles. But most importantly, they totally slayed their live performance.
Amid dancers and pyro, they took over the runway and delivered their signature tight vocal harmonies.
The song itself has been co-written by Swedish pop legend Zara Larsson. Her record company has been proudly bragging about the collaboration.
And this makes us wonder: how would a Zara Larsson-written entry for OG3NE entry do at Eurovision? It’s enough to make us want to petition AVROTROS to send the sisters back!
OG3NE are also focusing on their Dutch theatre tour. The tour is sold out in several cities but there are still some tickets still up for grabs.
In a recent interview, their manager Benno Leeuw revealed that the “Lights and Shadows” singers are focusing on building their international careers following their appearance at Eurovision in May. He also commented on their bold new hairstyles — which have received mixed reactions from the Dutch public. But he won’t reveal if the sisters were wearing wigs: “Let yourself be surprised in the future.”
“But I Do” will be released on October 26.
“But I Do” lyrics – OG3NE
Damn, all this time, I feel I can’t answer the questions
Who we are, why we’re here, we’re living and dying
After all, invisible, what are we fighting?
What are we fighting?
We’re perfect but we’re just not right
We turn it over, there’s still light
And after all this good
Can’t get my head around the truth
I don’t wanna care about you no more
I tell myself that I don’t wanna care about you no more, no more
I don’t wanna care about you no more
I tell myself that I don’t wanna care about you no more, no more
But I do
I don’t wanna care, I don’t wanna care about
I don’t wanna care, I don’t wanna care about you
I don’t wanna care, I don’t wanna care about, but I do-do-do-do
I don’t wanna care, I don’t wanna care about you
We’re perfect for it, just not right
We turn it up but there’s still light
And after all this good
Can’t get my head around the truth
I don’t wanna care about you no more
I tell myself that I don’t wanna care about you no more, no more
But I do
I don’t wanna care, I don’t wanna care about
I don’t wanna care, I don’t wanna care about you
I don’t wanna care, I don’t wanna care about, but I do-do-do-do
I don’t wanna care, I don’t wanna care about you
I don’t wanna care about you
If you stay, I can leave
If you leave, I can go, leave I can go
I don’t wanna care about you oh-oh
I don’t wanna care about you ooh
I don’t wanna care about you no more
I tell myself that I don’t wanna care about you no more, no more
But I do, I don’t wanna care, I don’t wanna care about
I don’t wanna care, I don’t wanna care about you
I don’t wanna care, I don’t wanna care about, oh oh yeah
I don’t wanna care, I don’t wanna care about you
But I do
O’g3ne slay and have amazing voices and stage presences, but for me the song is really mediocre and too safe for a group like them. The wigs also have to go ?
Expectable, however it comes to degree of Ajax’s melfest song in lyrics, not sure if it’s good.
Just no. :/
Og3ne must change their looks to go international , the music industry must sell them in the UK and US. Its difficult for artist from Europe you must have Luck at sometime
the wigs are just weird.
but, i don’t want og3ne to go back, even though it would be pretty epic, i want jennie lena to go, whos with me?
i’m married to there girls since now XD they’re amazing !
I like this track, but the hair is ridiculous.
I hope to see them back in ESC one day. With a better song they can win it all.
Totally uninspired such as Zara’s Larson’s material. They deserve so much better. The staging through was fantastic. I whish NL wins sometime soon to have a fantastic show.
This is so good. This is the kind of music they should be singing. I hope they continue on this musical direction. Definitely one of the best best performances I’ve seen from them. Also, it’s obvious that were wearing wigs.
Although the song is a bit like everything you hear on the radio, it’s still better than their previous work and not as basic as you would hear with other songs.
Could everyone please stop talking about their appearance? It’s just hair! Besides that, the song and performance are absolutely amazing and this one has a very good potential to go international!
Mess did they switch races? Those wigs are too much. Rachel Dolezal is shaking.
Now a blonde curly wig is also cultural appropriation? Since when white people from The Netherlands are not allowed to be blonde and curly? The PC brigade is going too far.
HA HA HA, I get the joke. Lisa Vol must be sued. If Beyonce is blonde, this is also fine. The world has gone mad.
I don’t believe cultural appropriation is a thing, I’m just saying that those looks are NOT the tea.
Cultural Appropriation is a thing but people have used that term so much, the meaning has been lost. No one knows what is really is anymore. Also was Rachel that big of a news story? I had no idea people in Europe knew about her.
People in Europe know about Rachel Dolezal, but in Europe would not be a big deal, nobody would care if you want to be more black. I really think nobody really cares because Europeans are so…”I don’t care what you want to do”.
I don’t think cultural appropriation is a thing because many black women are becoming blondes, they wear western clothes, nobody ask them – ”Why are you not faithful to your culture?
They can do whatever they want, so…why complaining about what others do?
I can understand it not being a big deal in Europe. You guys have a very different racial history than in the states.
