Moldova‘s representatives DoReDos performed at last night’s Eurovision PreParty Riga 2018. But that was just one step on their promotional tour, which began shortly after winning O melodie pentru Europa with “My Lucky Day”. The trio have been following their songwriter Philipp Kirkorov on his tour of the Baltic countries and have already sung in front of tens of thousands of people in Lithuania, Russia, and Latvia.
As part of their promo tour for Eurovision, DoReDos followed the songwriter and producer of their entry “My Lucky Day” on his “Me” tour of the Baltic countries, starting on 16 March.
They’re also planning to go to Tallinn in Estonia, then to Tel Aviv, Amsterdam, and Madrid, before their last stop — Lisbon.
DoReDos have so far presented their Eurovision entry “My Lucky Day” to sold out venues in Kaunas, Klaipeda, Kaliningrad, Vilnius, and Siauliai.
Introduced by Philipp Kirkorov as his winning song from Moldova, “My Lucky Day” is always warmly received by the audience.
Complete with the dancers and moving mirrors from the National Final, their show always gets everyone on their feet.
One such performance was at the Siemens arena in Vilnius, Lithuania, where 10,000 people got to listen to Moldova’s song for Lisbon, “My Lucky Day”:
Each stop also provides an opportunity to talk to the press and to have radio and TV appearances. Philipp Kirkorov, who is a megastar in the region, is providing an important and needed boost for the Moldovan trio, which at the moment is underrated by the bookies.
Just as SunStroke Project this time last year, DoReDos are not considered a threat for the the Top 10, but the trio is determined to make their country proud and exceed expectations once again. And, with both Russia and Romania in their semi-final, chances are on their side ahead of the Grand Final.
DoReDos will only miss London from their tour, as some undisclosed visa issues prevented the Moldovan trio from attending that promo party as well.
But no matter. The group got another boost today as they released their song in Russia. They have already hit #18 on the iTunes chart.
Are you excited to see how DoReDos do on their promo tour? And what do you think about the trio’s chances in Lisbon? Let us know in the comments!
Kirkorov really isn’t my style nor is his fashion my taste, at all, but he is just so dang generous and ENTHUSIASTIC that he ends up charming me despite all that. “Lucky Day” is pure fluff, but I find myself enjoying the video and wishing the group well, anyway.
And that “promo tour” billing card, with each of the three in DoReDos holding up a super-sized image of themselves in front of their actual selves, is pretty dang adorkable.
Not to be mean but that many people in Lithuania go to Kirkorov’s concerts?
I reckon most of the audience are russians living in Lithuania.
There’s a couple hundred thousand ethnic Russians in the country, and a few hundred thousand more in close transport range. More than enough people fluent in the language to pack anything smaller than a stadium venue, if even a modest percentage of them are interested. And there will be some handfuls of ethnic Lithuanians, as well.
Same math applies to almost every other ex-Soviet country.
Ha. Phillipp Kirkoriv and Bjorkman not involved? Better songs, maybe, but no one will watch!
I hope the young dude didn’t have to put out for Kirkorov.
Kirkorov is a great artist, but the song he wrote fot them is awful… hope it stays in semi
At first I liked the track but thought it wasn’t close to making the final, but the combination of Kirkorov’s clout and the exposure they’re receiving (guaranteed votes from Russia and Romania, possibly the Netherlands and Latvia as well if they’re performing there) are making their chances better by the day. I could almost see them opening the final.
So Doritos and Cheetos are joining Mr. Desperado-to-Win on tour …
so funny #NOT
I see the Doritos pun, but what’s the meaning of the ‘Cheetos’ one?
i assume cheetos is azerbaijan because they cheat
I thought it was meant to be quite easy to get a performer’s visa for London as long as you have an official invitation to perform at an event.
If it’s true that DoReDos will not be in London is really weird. They are Eurovision stars, not just anybody outside EU that wants to stay in London forever. They are outside EU but they are not planning to take advantage of the precious UK, for f— sake.
I think it is probably Kirkotov who did not get a visa. There is some political feud ongoing, as you know, so I suspect he either was refused the entry or decided it would not be appropriate under the circumstances
Kirkorov is Bulgarian, he probably still has Bulgarian citizenship. I can only guess that he has dual citizenship Bulgarian and Russian now. In this case he doesn’t need visa at all.
Uugh. Sad. I fear the visa situation will get much worse after Brexit is done. 🙁
Sorry, Bogdan, did you mean to say ‘with Russia and Romania’ in their semifinal? Rather than Russia and Moldova. But point taken; I believe they are underrated and could be a good return on money potentially
Thanks for correcting me! I meant Russia and Romania, obviously. 🙂
I find this project too forced and a try-hard to be funny, but who am I to judge? Good luck anyway.
Puppet on a string… Sandie Shaw would decribe it this way
Kirkorov is a mega star in the region but he didn’t have a problem to visit the press conference of the Riga pre party and seat at the same table with unknown singers.
He is the producer and composer of Doredos but he didn’t have a problem to promote Micolas Josef in front of 10.000 people.
That is what makes him a real star and a real Eurovision fan.
He is an ENTHUSIAST of music. That’s why people in Russia love him even if they are not fond of his music.
I love how passionate Philipp is with DoReDos. Hopefully everything will pay off.
Already visa problems for London?
Say what you want about Kirkorov, but I love his ambition to be Eurovision winner in one way or another. What Eurovision will be without ambitious gurus like Christer Björkman and Philipp Kirkorov?
Eurovision without Bjorkman and Kirkorov? More focus on songs, maybe?
