The Italian battle has come to an end and the outcome is unequivocal. On 13 April, we asked you to decide which Eurovision 2018 duo from the Italian peninsula is your favourite. The choice was between Italy’s Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro and San Marino’s Jessika feat. Jenifer Brening.
A total of 1,540 readers voted and more than two thirds of them chose the Sanremo winning pair.
The “Non mi avete fatto niente” performers topped the poll by a huge margin, scooping up 1,174 votes (76.23% of all votes cast!). They also earned a respectable 7.17 with the Wiwi Jury — our in-house panel of musical unprofessionals.
Kristín, one of our Icelandic wiwibloggers, awarded them the highest score — a 9.5. She writes that the two “have perfect chemistry, harmonize beautifully, the melody is a slam dunk from the first note and the meaning behind the lyrics give me chills and little lump in my throat”.
At the other end of the scale, Chris gave a 4. He feels that “Italy’s major problem is that there’s at least one song that’s doing “social commentary” already in the final — and doing it better”. A clear reference to France’s Madame Monsieur.
The Maltese pop singer Jessika and the German singer turned rapper Jenifer Brening finished second and, by default, last. “Who We Are” managed just 366 votes or23.77% of the overall vote. Our Wiwi Jury was also unconvinced. They gave the song a 4.11.
Our Portuguese correspondent Bernando dealt the pair a 2. He doesn’t hold his blows, admitting that “Jenifer’s rap part is cringe and the only thing that actually saves this entry is Jessika’s vocals and stage presence”.
Nicer words and a 5 come from Robyn. “There’s still something really enjoyable… Jess ‘n’ Jen are obviously putting everything into the performance and that should be appreciated”.

It was sure that italy will be win this Poll, Italy’s song has a powerful message and I love the voice of the singers. Go Italy ?? I hope this song will be the Winner of Eurovision. For me it is the best song in this contest.

Probably one of the worst entries I ever seen, such a lame song. Whatever polls, and odds say, this one I give it to San Marino.
I’m truly shocked, that Italy won. I though San Marino is a clear winner here, as it was high in the odss and fan’s rankings, but now I start to think, that these polls are actually very useful, cause they show the real majority’s opinion. Thank you for opening my eyes.
