The 50% juries, 50% televoting rule is still with us. As always, each participating country gets to choose music professionals who will judge the performances during the dress rehearsal on the night before the actual show. And today the EBU has released the names of all jurors set to help decide the winner of Eurovision 2018. As usual, there’s a lot of familiar faces.
Ex-Eurovision Stars in 2018 Juries
The 2017 contest is represented by the adorable Nathan Trent, who takes a role on the Austrian jury. He’s no doubt versed in how Eurovision works, having been through the whole shebang just twelve months ago.
Belgium has double the ex-Eurovision star power, with pocket rocket and 2016 representative Laura Tesoro under the pressure of judging for her country. 2010’s Tom Dice will bring himself and his guitar, joining Laura on the panel.
Denmark has wheeled out a former winner in the shape of Emmelie de Forest joining their jury. DMGP 2018 contender Lasse Meling will be joining her. Ireland’s winner from 1993 Niamh Kavanagh will again be the face of Ireland’s jury panel.
The Balkans are representing with their Eurovision stars of past. Bojana Stamenov will be joining the jury for Serbia. Nina Zizic of Montenegro’s Who See fame in 2013 will be on the Montenegrin panel.
Moldova 2014’s Cristina Scarlat will be on her country’s panel. Michal Szpak from 2016 will be showing us what entries will be colouring his life in Poland. The lovely Latvian from 2015 Aminata Savadogo will head up the Latvian jury, while
The entirety of Portugal’s jury is comprised of Festival da Canção entrants from this year, including Daniela Onis, Anabela, Benjamim Nunes and Peu Madureira.
Melodifestivalen veteran Mariette will head up the Swedish jury.
You can see the full list of all jurors — listed by country — in the official document provided by the EBU.
You know you are a true ESC fan if you bothered to read all the names of jurors! I salute you!
The Albanian Jury is really good. Some very good professionals. 3 of them are rock singers, so Hungary, Netherlands and maybe Switzerland are probably gonna get some good points from them!
Albania, the Netherlands, and Hungary are in separate semis, aren’t they?
It’s getting soo exciting!!
Other notables I noticed are Mary Roos (Germany 1972, 1984), Guri Schanke (Norway 2007), Hamed ‘K-One’ Pirouzpanah (composer of Undo, Sweden 2014), Bojken Lako (several entries in Festival i kenges), Max Giesinger (no ESC entry, but had a big hit in Germany with 80 Millionen) and Søs Fenger (no ESC entry, but very well known in Scandinavia). I guess only ESC nerds go through the full list of jury members… lol..
Petri Laaksonen (composer of Finland entry 1985 for Sonja Lumme).
Good catch 🙂 That was one of Finland’s best entries ever!
with all due respect most of this people are amateurs how will they make a difference between a better vocalist an a better song.. i mean cmon.. they will vote just the type of the song they like
100% agree + a lot of people vote just nice face, shirt etc etc. For example my own daughter voted last year for somebody (i dondt rememeber for whome) just because sheliked singer haircute 🙂
Nathan is so gonna give 12 points to Spain. I can see that one coming.
I see him throwing points to Germany personally
I interesting Eurovision because I like music.
They have beautiful voice and song.
I want free people on Eurovision for other people…
They have sometimes real talents on Eurovision… Congratulations for these people.
I want see voice and I want see good style artists… I don’t like Cleo and Donatan… I want life… Oh yes to do.
Couldn’t Tom Dice be extra friendly towards Rybak since they met in Oslo? Nathan Trent too with Vlado from Bulgaria, Laura Tesoro with Lea Sirk? Bojana with SuRie?
Something tells me these people who participated in the contest and wanted to be judged fairly will in return judge fairly
Michal is my all time hero of ESC. Good to hear he will be in Lisbon. :’)
Oh, I see trends… I like this music…
I saw a lot of nice song.
They do good job when see real talent… For people in the world. They don’t have bad opinion.
Oh Mariette the musical expert. *Laughing so hard*
Escfans are the people whith most hate in their hearts. Love to hate.
I want see jury because it’s interesting.
I like voice, song because I like big voice, talent when I have good emotions.
I dont understand why the UK doesnt invite ed sheeran, adele, or dua lipa for the jury tbh
Probably cuz they have better things to do. Plus dua is from kosovo.
Probably cuz they dont wanna join this sh * t show. And Dua has two nationalities, it was not kosovo that gave her a career. bye x
if this is a sh*t show, then what are you doing on that show’s fan website?
Welcome to Europe, where people immigrate to more developed countries looking to make money and get international fame. Those UK dollars are really helping the mansion she is building in Kosovo for her family. lol
Nobody is stopping you from getting a fortune dude. But i guess it’s much easier to hate on immigrants than admitting to yourself that you are a lazy loser
What are you talking about? I am an immigrant from Kosovo! I am speaking for myself as an immigrant. That’s why I wanted to inform you that dua is from Kosovo as well.
Probably because Ukescfans are so full of hate
Elton Deda continues to amaze with how much work does.
I hope he remembers that on the 7th day, he was supposed to rest. 😉
We must remember that nice is song, nice is voice, no small women with the same only her world…
I don’t like Cleo, Donatan. It’s for speaking? When I see the world I thing that it’s for other people… They have not normal style because it’s not normal relationship…
Well, at least we don’t have people who know nothing about music like Lisa Ajax this year… I’m still not over her votes in 2016, they went to Azerbaijan and Malta whose songs were written by people under her label.
Please for the love of God, if Cyprus and Greece give each other 12 pts AGAIN I’m gonna lose it.
When is the EBU going to start banning this?
The same goes for Azerbaijan en Armenie putting each other last every year
Who cares? Also you don’t seem to have a problem with all the Nordic countries giving eachother 12 points every year?
Sure, they are also to blame, but come on, Greece and Cyprus are really on another level when it comes to bloc voting
the last 3 years that has almost stoped completely. But the nordic countries still exchange points between them
THE SCANDINAVIAN VOTE is way worse…denmark-sweden-finland…you can bet on this.
I don’t care about these Eurovision stars. Sharon den Adel is in the jury!!!!! Wow!!!!!! 😀
Maybe she will participate in the coming years
If that ever happens I will be the happiest person in the world
Me too, she is pure talent!
Ha, ha, whith your hatefull ukfans.
I dont understand why the UK doesnt invite ed sheeran, adele, or dua lipa for the jury tbh
Does that mean hope that she’ll represent The Netherlands soon???
Wow …. i love her
I don’t understand why some countries have jury members from other nations?? Like Ukraine and Belarus both have an armenian member on their juries. How is that fair?? Of course those people will show extra support for their nation. Those eastern countries seriously.
And why do they announce those names before the show? There might be attempt of corruption.
WHAT’S your problem dont be jealous
any news from mikolas?
There’s also Ehla from Destination Eurovision.
We can hate on these people if Saara Aalto (Finalnd) doesn’t qualify. Good to know, tanks William Adams Lee. Oh no, im sorry. It was Aline van Rossem’s article.
saara was the best so far she’s gonna qualify
No one knows who are the Greek members of the jury, we never heard them.before.
A bunch of amateurs become juries. Respectable artists would not do this gig. I mean, does any A lister like Adele, Ed Sheran do this?
Next year will be Benjamin Ingrosso. He can give 0 point to everyone but Sweden. Lol
Why was Nathan chosen? He didnt deliver in 2017
or france.umm
Oh god our juries… LITHUANIA get ready for 12 points from portugal.
Since the 1st time I heard the Lithuanian song, I already knew that they would get a high score from Portugal, Ieva sounds a lot like Luísa Sobral.
wait im confused i dont know the portuguese jury members but why would they give 12 to lithuania, could you explain please
All of the Portuguese Jury is composed of this years national final contestants.
i mean, i could see benjamim giving the highest point to Ingrosso because he loves 80s stuff, but overall i think the 12 might go to lithuanias because it’s very emotional and minimalist but you never know.
and Ehla from Destination Eurovision is part of the French jury
