Her powerhouse performance at Eurovision 2018 set Europe ablaze.

And now Cyprus’ pyro-princess Eleni Foureira has received the Mad Video Music Award (VMA) for Best Pop Female Of The Year.

The Mad Video Music Awards awards, broadcast live from the Faliro Sports Pavillion Arena near Athens, honour the greatest achievements in Greek music in a given year.

Reacting through her Instagram page, Eleni dedicated her win to her “angels” and expressed her “love” for her fans:

Eleni also took to the stage on the night, performing the Playmen Remix of her Eurovision track “Fuego”:

Mixing sheer diamante leotard with a sparkling blazer, the fire-starter served up banshee in the boardroom for days. Nailing the choreography Eurofans fell for in May, the star added confetti and shirtless male backing dancers to spice things up. Reinvention rocks the world henny!

Of course Eleni wasn’t the only Eurostar in residence on the night in Athens. She was joined by Czech hunk Mikolas Josef, who shared the stage Georgian-Greek superstar Tamta. She’s been a rumoured Greek Eurovision contender for years.

The duo mashed up Mikolas’s Eurovision entry “Lie To Me” and Tamta’s latest single “Early Summer”.

Rocking out with a troupe of backing dancers, Mikolas gave geek chic for days on stage, while Tamta offered up a pretty in pink look.

There performance showed a few differences from Eurovision: backflips were out and the original lyrics to “Lie To Me” were back in.

Despite omitting somersaults himself, Mikolas did take the time to teach one-half of Norwegian teen twins Marcus and Martinus how it’s done:

Greek Eurovision Royalty was on full show at the Mad Video Music Awards. Eurovision 2005 winner Helena Paparizou picked up the gong for Best Female Singer, Eurovision 2004 and Eurovision 2009 star Sakis Rouvas won Best Male Modern Artist. Helena also won the award for Best Duet, for her collaboration with Anastasios Rammos on ‘An me dis na kleo’. Greek national final act Melisses picked up two awards for Best Group and Best Video.

And just because I read about Melisses above, wouldn’t they be a good act for Eurovision? I’ve been thinking about it for years.
