Olivia Newton-John has dismissed reports that she is “clinging on to life”.

In a video released on Twitter, the 70-year old Grease star and 1974 Eurovision singer said: “Rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated to quote a very famous quote.”

The actress and singer was diagnosed with breast cancer for the third time in 2017. Reports recently began circulating in Australia and the US that she only had only weeks to live.

But in the video, posted on Thursday, she announced that she was “doing great” and thanked all of her fans for their “wonderful love and support.”

Earlier in the week her manager Michael Caprio described such claims as “hilarious,” adding, “You might want to get better sources versus reading tabloids”.

Before hitting stardom with Grease, Newton-John represented the UK in the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Long Live Love”, finishing fourth, behind Swedish winners ABBA.

Her eponymous studio album was released the same year, and its US edition If You Love Me, Let Me Know topped the Billboard 200 chart.

She spoke about her recent diagnosis last September, saying “I’d be lying if I said I never get scared. But my husband’s always there…I believe I will get over it.”

The “Banks of the Ohio” hitmaker announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer for a third time in three decades last September.

At the time doctors had discovered a tumour in her lower back. This was the result of stage four breast cancer that had spread to the spine.

The UK-born, Aussie-raised songstress had already battled and overcome breast cancer back in 1992. She later founded the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia, to help patients fighting cancer and also to help find a cure for the disease.

We’re sending all our positive vibes to Olivia and her family.
