Despite a recent report in The Sun newspaper, Saara Aalto is not joining the Spice Girls for their reunion tour. But, in a recent conversation with our William and Deban, she did reveal what she really really wants! The Finnish Fairy is hoping for a fairytale finish on Dancing on Ice and she’s crossing everything with the hope Eurovision fans will pick up the phones and vote this Sunday.
And they’ve got plenty of reason to. Speaking to wiwibloggs Saara revealed — for the first time — that she’ll be paying tribute to British Eurofans this week with a performance of Sandie Shaw’s 1967 winner “Puppet on a String.”
In our interview, which you can watch below, Saara details the arduous work the performers go through every week, and how she is determined to give her 100% — just as she did on a recent episode, where she became the first-ever act to sing live on the show. Miss Saara’s pulling strings left and right!
Spice Girls rumour
Saara has been in the headlines for reasons beyond the ice. Earlier this month The Sun claimed that the “Monsters” singer may have been asked by Mel C to be the Fifth Spice Girl for some of their gigs during their upcoming reunion tour.
Alas. As she explains in our interview, it was just a passing comment, with Sporty praising Saara on her live performances. The Sun appears to have hyped it a bit.
Saara — a longtime Spice superfan — loves the idea though.
During her X Factor run, she famously said: “The girl band that changed my life was Spice Girls. When I was 10 years old I saw Spice Girls. Then I called my friend and was like – we need to have a band. That’s how I started to compose and sing in English.”
But she ain’t got nothing to fret about! She may not be joining the legendary girl group, but with her recent releases like “Dance Like Nobody’s Watching”, including a big dance remix which just dropped, she is well into stardom in the UK and beyond.
