When the artists for Estonia’s Eesti Laul 2020 were first revealed, many thought semi-final one of the Eurovision selection would be a bloodbath.
But after broadcaster ERR released the 24 competing songs, it became clear that semi-final two won’t be a walk in the park either. The semi includes many early contenders and dark horses, and we can’t wait to hear who you’ll root for.
Eesti Laul 2020 Semi-Final Two Songs
German & Violina – “Heart Winder”
Nothing screams Eurovision like a band of violinists. German & Violina want to pave their way to the final with a catchy pop chorus. But do they have your support?
INGER – “Only Dream”
INGER’s fun indie sound and bluesy vocalisation are great to get the listener in a good mood. The singer is returning to the contest hoping to do better than last year. So, will you be rooting for The Only Dream” artist?
Jaagup Tuisk – “Beautiful Lie”
Complimenting the title of last year’s runner up “Pretty Little Liar”, Jaagup Tuisk’s moving song is a touching ballad reminiscent of last year’s winner. Does it move you enough to get your vote?
Janet – “Hingelind”
“Hingelind” is one of the most up-tempo Estonian-language track of this year’s Eesti Laul. It builds up to a booming drop and shows Janet’s great vocal ability. Will you root for it?
Mariliis Jõgeva – “Unistustes”
Fresh-faced Mariliis Jõgeva brings this Estonian-language bop to the table. The track and the video feel very wholesome and uplifting. Is it your favourite of the semi-final?
Merilin Mälk – “Miljon Sammu”
While most of us can’t speak Estonian, the Eurovision community already marked this song as an early favourite. But, does this language barrier-breaking bop have your support?
SHIRA – “Out in Space”
SHIRA’s indie pop effort for Estonia is already receiving a lot of love from fans. Meanwhile, there’s also a SHIRA in the Israeli selection, highly tipped to win. But in Eesti Laul, is SHIRA also a favourite?
Traffic – “Üks Kord Veel”
With this fun, Mumford & Suns-like track, Traffic hope to win Eesti Laul on their fifth attempt. Though it has a convincing sound, fans find it polarising. So, is it your favourite?
Uku Suviste – “What Love Is”
When ERR announced that last year’s runner-up will participate, fans were hyped. He also came second in our “most excited for” poll. But now that his power ballad is out, is he still your fave?
Uudo Sepp – “i’m sorry. i messed up”
With true emotion and pain, Uudo Sepp’s “i’m sorry. i messed up” is truly moving. But emotion isn’t all there is to it. The track also shows Sepp’s brilliant vocals. Is this song your vote in this semi?
Viinerid – “Kapa Kohi-LA”
So far, this obvious joke entry is leading in YouTube dislikes. While it’s definitely gotten a lot of hate, we won’t judge you if you like it, and you just might. Do the wieners have your vote?
Ziggy Wild – “Lean on Me”
This country-inspired rock track is reminiscent of Waylon’s Eurovision 2018 effort for the Netherlands. But the question is if, on its own, it’s good enough to represent Estonia. So, in your opinion, is it worthy of winning the semi-final?
Poll: Who should win semi-final two of Eesti Laul 2020?
Of the twelve competing songs, only six will qualify for the final. The first five qualifiers will be determined by a 50/50 split between juries and televote. The final spot will be determined in a second round of televoting. The lucky half dozen will go up against the top six from semi-final one in the grand final.
But which semi-final two act is your favourite? You can vote for as many songs as you like, but you can only vote once! The poll will close ahead of semi-final two on 15 February 2020.

Who should win semi-final two of Eesti Laul 2020? And who will win? Let us know in the comments.
Jaagup Tuisk is the clear winner of it all. SHIRA is also one that should proceed but nothing is able te beat Jaagup imho.
Uudo needs to be recognized more!
I think Kapa Kohi-LA will be the shock qualifier
EMA 2020 artists will be revealed on Friday! 🙂
Y’all are underrating Hingelind. Janet isn’t my winner, but she deserves to qualify in my opinion.
Yooooo guys I have great news Monika Marija will release her Eurovision song this Thursday, and Monique famous Lithuanian singer will take part in Eurovizijos atranka too, please wiwibloggs make post about those 2 queens. The current top 6 of the poll (Jaagup, Shira, Uku,Uudo, Traffic<3, Merilin) would be a very fine set of qualifiers for me. Why do these semifinals have to be so unbalanced though…
If it was up to me to pick 6 to qualify into the final I would pick: Heart Winder, Üks kord veel (these 2 are my favourites), Only Dream, Unistusted, Miljon sammu and Out In Space (4 songs I think are ok).
I can’t see a clear favourite in the 1st SF nor in the 2nd. Some of them are good, but feel like are lacking something or they are too average or too similar to other known songs to standaout. This would be my top: 1. Uudo Sepp – I’m Sorry. I Messed Up (6.75). For me the best in the SF and, along Rasmus, the best in this year Eesti Laul. A friend find it depressing, bland and boring but I think it is emotional.Obviously if you don’t like slow songs, you are not going to like it. I’m afraid… Read more »
Jaagup, Ziggy Wild for me
Jaagup’s song is interesting. The other songs sounded boring to me
Jaagup and Uku for me.
I feel there’s gonna be a lot of shocker in this semifinal. Somehow Merilin or Uudo would pack some potential punch,
I guess it’s SHIRA for me… I don’t think it’s a groundbreaking or mesmerizing song, yet its production value and enjoyability compensates the lack of personality. A part of me which still yearns for “Wo sind die Katzen” wants to say Viinerid. The high quality music video persuaded me.
Uku is third ?!! His song is almost of the same genre than the one of Roko Blaževic. C’mon guys ! Don’t vote for him ’cause he’s sexy !
It’s the same genre, but it’s better. It has a much more balanced pitch, is a bit less repetitive and feels somewhat less pretentious. The lyrics are still quite typical for the genre, so I voted for two other songs.
Uku’s song is atrocious, I’m so scared he could win because of his name and the song’s composers. He’d end up a Verona 2.0. Jaagup is the only real option Estonia has.
Uudo Sepp is my pick.
Surprised? It’s a really moving song with such raw simplicity. Underrated by y’all.
I also like Jaagup and Shira obviously. Should be a very enjoyable Semi Final.
uudo is my fave too ! the song reminds me of every single day which was a highlight of the 2018 season
Jaagup is the only one I see taking Estonia to the final tbh
Also, I don’t think that Beautiful Lie having the same key and color as Arcade makes it a “blatant blueprint”, and neither will a vast majority of people seeing it at Eurovision.
Jaagup and Shira all the way! 🙂
Aha, so we have different picks for a change.
This is gonna be a good Semi. 🙂
Uudo is my third here. The whole NF has ten-ish really good songs, so I think Eesti Laul does deliver quite nicely this year. 😉 My overall top 4 are Rasmus Randvee, Shira, Jaagup and Stefan. Uudo would be in the running for my 5th, with Synne Valtri and Renate.
Our top 4 is almost the same, Colin. But I have Anett & Fredi instead of Stefan. Uudo and Traffic would fight for the 5th spot. I think both Uku and Stefan delivered very good vocals in their tracks, my problem is more about the songs, they simply do nothing for me.
In this one, I’m rooting for Jaagup and Shira.
i don’t get why y’all are so obsessed with that arcade copy and paste… it’s v lame when ppl try to copy the previous year’s winner, that beautiful lie song has zero replay value
Sorry, but “Beautiful lie” is definitely on a higher level of quality than “Replay” and absolutely not the typical ESC-mainstream. You can´t compare these two songs.
But honestly my favourite of Eesti Laul is “Uks kurd veel”. A very charming and lovely song with influence of country and “sing-along”.
what does replay have to do with this ? mine is just a comment on its unoriginality, with arcade being the blatant blueprint for it (even the music video ffs). carbon copies of the previous year’s successful songs never do well anyway.
It’s kind of insulting to the artists to call them a carbon copy. Jaagup’s is way different to Duncan’s because it is more a cappella, with a more unusual song structure, and choir-like sounds. The melody is completely different. While the vibe and mood may be the same, they are different songs. But we can all have different opinions, I guess.
A self-written song just like “Beutiful life” is always original.
I think you’re a copy and paste if you go along with that
First of all, this song has nothing to do with Arcade, only darkness, and more nothing
Beautiful Lie is even better than Arcade. It’s only ‘lame’ when they copy the winner and do it worse. Not to mention, dark male ballads are not unique to Duncan and get sent every year.
People who say that it’s a copy of Arcade have a mental disability, their brain is unable to distinguish between 2 different songs that maybe have a bit the same vibe but overall are different. It’s the same as saying that all songs with a powerful strong chorus are the same. Or that all upbeat songs are like ‘Fuego’. Or that ‘Zero Gravity’ was like ‘La Forza’ etc.
There is only one choice Jaagup Tuisk Estonians will never choose Shira’s song
As an Estonian I have never hear about this Shira!!
Shira’s real name is Marika Rodionova. You can look her up on Facebook.
The performance has a dreamy quality to it which might be difficult to translate into a live performance. I like the smoky texture of her voice and the sincerity of the story she’s telling, but the song structure is too safe and easy on the ear. However, it’s my 3rd best choice from this semi after Uku and Jaagup.
Shira is the best for me, but I think people should notice Merilin Mälk a bit more, the song is great.
I like Merilin too. But both Shira and especially Uku are quite boring for me. There could be a lot of another songs at ESC with a similar sound.
Comparing the two favorites in this poll, I prefer Jaagup. His song is a masterpiece, comparing to Shira’s (which I find it quite boring, repetitive and even irritating by the end of the song). Jaagup would pass the semifinal, if will represent Estonia, but Shira won’t. These type of songs don’t do well with the juries or the televoters (the song is similar to Latvia’s Laura Rizotto – Funny Girl, or Romania’s Ester Peony – On a Sunday)… These contemporary indie songs just don’t do well in Eurovision!
Honestly I think Jaagup can deliver a great (and kinda theatrical) performance. For me is the best song so far in this NF and I hope he wins!!. By the way Idk why sooo many people say that Shira’s song is the best, I find it quite boring sorry .
Jaagup, of course. I also like Janet and Shira for 2nd and 3rd place.
It’s a toss-up between Uku and Jaagup for me (preferably Uku, to my taste).
I find Shira slightly…. boring 🙁
For me CLEARLY Out in Space is the best song, even of the whole competition, I’m obsessed with that song.
I’m curious though, if Jaagup and Elvana, the 2 huge favourites so far, can actually win. Will be exciting to see
Unfortunately, we never choose such a poor song this song is terrible which is it out of space Jaagup or Estonian song with their own language is chosen
